Chris POV
Chris knocked on the door desperately, his eyes darting around.
Chris hated his fugitive status.
Even though it would resolve itself in just a few more days, the burden that hung over his head weighed heavily on him.
If someone caught him out and about, especially with Asa’s condition right now, he didn’t know what he would do.
Chris hated the thought of leaving Asa for the little while it took to get to Felicity, so he couldn’t imagine how it would feel to be separated from him for days on end.
Asa wouldn’t even know what happened to him.
Asa would only see Chris’ absence and wonder what he’d done wrong. Asa would feel abandoned.
Chris shook the errant thoughts from his mind.
He didn’t need to project any negative emotions through the bond. Asa felt bad enough already.
The door creaked open. Xolo stood blocking the entranceway, half shifted as if he expected it to be someone other than Chris.
