On the first Full moon of March, when the moon is at its highest peak, all unmated shifters must run into the woods from the Maverick and Sweetwater packs in search of a mate. Shifters chase down their fated mate and claim them under the moonlight.

For Asa, the run is the day he has been looking forward to all of his life. He is excited to be mated until an unfortunate encounter at the edge of the woods pushes him into peril. His life has turned upside down as he faces something he never thought he would, an injury and two shifters who want him. 

Chris didn't look forward to the run. As his last run, thankfully, he could finally melt back into obscurity. He just wants to make sure he gets out of the woods, unattached, and gets on with his life until he catches a light Lilac scent. Suddenly, he finds himself falling head over heels for his mate. His only goal now is to protect Asa, no matter what.

THE CHASE

Asa arrived back in their new home, his spirits lighter. He missed Felicity dearly and didn’t know how he’d made it so long without seeing her.


Chris shocked him when he told Asa that he could go to Felicity’s. Asa didn’t want to push it, so he didn’t ask why he let him. 


Felicity and Skye escorted him home to keep him safe. It surprised Asa that Chris would allow it since the elder shifter hadn’t let Asa out of his sight with others since the night of the mating. 


“See you, Asa,” Skye called and Asa waved back. 


“Get home safe!” He called and the two shifters disappeared into the treeline. 


“You look happy,” Chris said from the porch where he waited for Asa.


Asa ran up to Chris, wrapping his arms around his shoulders tight. 


He nearly knocked the taller man over. 


Chris steadied them, wrapping one arm around Asa’s waist for support. 


“Whoa there,” Chris teased and Asa gave him a genuine smile.
