On the first Full moon of March, when the moon is at its highest peak, all unmated shifters must run into the woods from the Maverick and Sweetwater packs in search of a mate. Shifters chase down their fated mate and claim them under the moonlight.

For Asa, the run is the day he has been looking forward to all of his life. He is excited to be mated until an unfortunate encounter at the edge of the woods pushes him into peril. His life has turned upside down as he faces something he never thought he would, an injury and two shifters who want him. 

Chris didn't look forward to the run. As his last run, thankfully, he could finally melt back into obscurity. He just wants to make sure he gets out of the woods, unattached, and gets on with his life until he catches a light Lilac scent. Suddenly, he finds himself falling head over heels for his mate. His only goal now is to protect Asa, no matter what.

THE CHASE

Asa laid in bed, wide awake as Chris slept beside him. 


His mate didn’t seem the least bit worried about Asa breaking the command.


Asa wouldn’t break the command, not outright. Asa heard horror stories of breaking commands given by mates. Sometimes it left irrevocable damage to the mating bond. 


The youth of their bond scared Asa too much to even consider risking it. 


Asa's first option, staying locked in, wasn’t an option.


So if he couldn’t stay in the house, and he couldn’t disobey Chris, he had to think of another choice. 


Asa rolled over, looking over his mate. 


When sleeping, Asa could mistake Chris for a God. 


His face screamed benevolence, the set of his nose mighty. 


Everything about him implied power, grace, charm, an otherworldly being almost.
