On the first Full moon of March, when the moon is at its highest peak, all unmated shifters must run into the woods from the Maverick and Sweetwater packs in search of a mate. Shifters chase down their fated mate and claim them under the moonlight.

For Asa, the run is the day he has been looking forward to all of his life. He is excited to be mated until an unfortunate encounter at the edge of the woods pushes him into peril. His life has turned upside down as he faces something he never thought he would, an injury and two shifters who want him. 

Chris didn't look forward to the run. As his last run, thankfully, he could finally melt back into obscurity. He just wants to make sure he gets out of the woods, unattached, and gets on with his life until he catches a light Lilac scent. Suddenly, he finds himself falling head over heels for his mate. His only goal now is to protect Asa, no matter what.

THE CHASE

Asa felt a strange tug on their mating bond and he frowned, roused from his sleep. 


Chris left to retrieve supplies, leaving Asa to his own devices. Chris hid him away almost immediately after their mating and it started to bug Asa.


Something must have scared Chris from the feeling Asa got through the bond. 


Though, these days, it seemed like everything scared Chris when it came to Asa. 


Chris acted like just around every corner waited the boogyman, ready to snatch Asa up and whisk him far away from his mate.


Chris seemed to believe that keeping Asa hidden from everything would keep him safe. 


Loneliness crept in when Chris left, doubt taking hold of his mind easily when by himself. 


He wanted to show off this new mate of his but Chris didn’t seem too interested in that at all.
