On the first Full moon of March, when the moon is at its highest peak, all unmated shifters must run into the woods from the Maverick and Sweetwater packs in search of a mate. Shifters chase down their fated mate and claim them under the moonlight.

For Asa, the run is the day he has been looking forward to all of his life. He is excited to be mated until an unfortunate encounter at the edge of the woods pushes him into peril. His life has turned upside down as he faces something he never thought he would, an injury and two shifters who want him. 

Chris didn't look forward to the run. As his last run, thankfully, he could finally melt back into obscurity. He just wants to make sure he gets out of the woods, unattached, and gets on with his life until he catches a light Lilac scent. Suddenly, he finds himself falling head over heels for his mate. His only goal now is to protect Asa, no matter what.

THE CHASE

Chris rummaged through the cupboards, making a list of the items that he needed. He planned to visit Xolo and Felicity to gather the supplies that Asa and he needed later that night. 


The night provided the perfect cover for Chris. It kept Jacob or his lackeys from discovering him.  Anyone coming to look for Asa would strike during the day when they believed Chris left Asa alone. So Chris planned around it, never leaving his mate for more than an hour at a time. 


“Asa, do you need anything?” Chris called and Asa walked from their shared bedroom, his face set in boredom. 


Anything could happen, and what kind of mate would let Asa get hurt?


No, Asa stayed indoors and Chris took the majority of the risks. 


But if Asa died, so went Chris' world. 


“Are you going to get supplies?” Asa asked and Chris nodded, writing down more vegetables.
