On the first Full moon of March, when the moon is at its highest peak, all unmated shifters must run into the woods from the Maverick and Sweetwater packs in search of a mate. Shifters chase down their fated mate and claim them under the moonlight.

For Asa, the run is the day he has been looking forward to all of his life. He is excited to be mated until an unfortunate encounter at the edge of the woods pushes him into peril. His life has turned upside down as he faces something he never thought he would, an injury and two shifters who want him. 

Chris didn't look forward to the run. As his last run, thankfully, he could finally melt back into obscurity. He just wants to make sure he gets out of the woods, unattached, and gets on with his life until he catches a light Lilac scent. Suddenly, he finds himself falling head over heels for his mate. His only goal now is to protect Asa, no matter what.

THE CHASE

Asa stepped onto the main road, his eyes sweeping the town. Asa had gone on this tour with his parents. Asa was young then, barely five, so he didn’t remember much. Asa mosty remembered the sprawling land of their territory. 


Their pack situated on a large plot of land, and through treaties and trades had managed to own so much. 


Asa appreciated that their pack came together through peace, not war. 


With what Chris found on the border, he hoped that nothing would come to blows. He hoped that Jacob had learned his lesson from that final fight, and that whatever Jacob thought of doing, he didn’t. He wouldn’t be able to fight off the alpha that coursed through Chris’ veins now. 


Asa wore his nicest clothes, his shirt starched crisp and his pants pleated. He still had the ribbon in his hair from the coronation, something to make him seem a bit more regal.
