Before the storm

Third POV:

Karolia's cell phone went off again for the fifth time. She looked at the caller ID before tossing it away beside her in boiling anger. Micah has been calling her repeatedly for the past two hours and it was getting to her nerves. She felt like picking up the call and screaming at the person to get lost, but she knows not to do it.

'Why doesn't that devil get the hint that I don't want to talk?' Karolia thought furiously.

Logan exited the washroom after his shower, rubbing his wet hair with a towel. He eyed the girl sprawled on the bed with a furious look on her face and then to the ringing phone beside her. He knew right away something was wrong.

"Who is it?" he asked cautiously, already getting a hint who it might be from her facial expression.

"Who might be," she scoffed angrily. "My two-faced uncle." she spat out in pure hatred.

"Why are you not answering his call?" he asked her cautiously. Karolia narrowed her eyes at him, feeling incredulous.

"You know the answer. Then why are you asking it?" she asked him angrily, giving him a 'duh' look. She didn't mean to be rude to him, but she couldn't help it either. She is just angry at the situation and he knows it as well. Logan sighed heavily and walked to sit beside her.

"Lia, answer the call. He shouldn't suspect anything." Logan tried to convince her. Karolia grits her teeth angrily before sitting up straight.

"No, I won't." she shook her head stubbornly. "I can't talk to him as if I'm oblivious to the truth, Log. Moreover, I don't think I will be able to control my anger if I hear that devil's voice." Logan wrapped his arm around her shoulder and brought her closer to him before kissing her temple. Her anger toned down a bit at his action.

"Babe, I can understand what you're feeling right now. But you have to consider our situation here. We need to act like this until we execute our plan, love. We can't risk anything." Logan stated. "Just for the sake of that, answer it."

Karolia squeezes her eyes shut and bit the inside of her cheeks for a few seconds in thought before nodding her head. She knows Logan has a point. In order to bring the ball in their court, she needs to act in front of him. Releasing a shaky breath, she took her still ringing phone and swiped the green button and placed it on her ear.

"Hey, kiddo." Karolia bit her lip as soon as his fake fatherly voice reached her ears. "Are you alright? I got worried when you didn't answer my calls."

Karolia swallowed heavily and opened her mouth to speak up, but she couldn't. Just hearing his sickly sweet tone is bringing back the picture of her parents' burnt body. Shaking her head, she quickly ended the call.

With glassy eyes, she looked at Logan. "I c-can't, Log. It's t-too hard for me to act normal. I-I'm sorry." she sobbed, her heart clenching tightly.

"It's alright, love," he assured her, caressing her soft cheeks. Karolia's phone started ringing again and this time, Logan answered it. Karolia looked at him with wide eyes, silently asking what he's doing. Logan gave her a reassuring nod.

"Hello, Micah. This is Logan here." Logan spoke, keeping his tone casual.

"Hello, son. What happened to Karrie? She cut my call immediately." he had a concerned tone in his voice and Logan wanted nothing but to reach through the phone and punch the bastard hard on his face.

"Oh, don't mind about that. She just rushed to the washroom to empty her stomach." he lied smoothly. "Lia isn't feeling well since yesterday."

"Is that so? Did she go to the hospital? I'll come right away." Micah said in an upset tone. Now Logan can easily make out the fakeness in it and it made him angry that he was only able to detect it now.

"Don't trouble yourself, Micah. I took her to the hospital yesterday itself." Logan lied again. Karolia was looking at him with an untold emotion. "Moreover Lia doesn't want anyone to visit her as she fears it will be communicable. She even tried to push me out." Logan chuckled. Karolia rolled her eyes. How can Logan act so composed and nonchalant? She thought.

"Ohh, alright then," Micah said disappointedly. "Take care of her health, son."

"Definitely. I'll make sure she is always safe and healthy." Logan said and stressed the last part. Karolia could identify the double meaning behind that statement and her heart melted for the man sitting next to her.

Logan ended the call after they exchanged their goodbye and placed the phone on the nightstand.

"Bravo to this bastard's acting skill." Logan scoffed, rolling his eyes. "If I get him in my hands now, I would crush his soul like-" Karolia cut his ferocious thoughts by cupping his cheeks and pressing her lips on his. Logan immediately relaxed under her touch.

"Let's not talk about that devil and ruin our night, Log," she mumbled against his lips. "I don't want to think about him," she says and Logan agreed to her. For her sake. Micah broke his girl more than a thousand times and he won't let it happen one more time.

Ever since they discovered the truth, Logan craved to have Micah and his dogs in his hands so that he could kill every one of them then and there. Logan knows he will succeed and has always won, but here something is hindering his path. Karolia. Her safety is his priority and he can't take any chances. For that, he needs to train her one final thing before they both step out for war. Until then, he must control the beast inside him.

Even though it's because of Micah that Karolia had to move to NYC which then led Logan to meet her and end up together, he can never accept that fate. He knows if Karolia Kingston is meant for Logan Watson, then they will definitely cross paths in one way or another. Here Micah was a mere reason, but he shouldn't have taken Karolia's happiness away by doing so.

Meanwhile, Micah was pacing in his room, trying to formulate a plan to capture Karolia.

Oliver was right, he thought. It's challenging to get to Karolia because of Logan Watson. If Micah has a good defense system and power, then Logan takes it a notch higher with a powerful defense mechanism and tremendous power. Especially in New York, his hometown. And that's the first thing he should take care of. It is to weaken Logan Watson's power. Micah knows it will be stupid to try and defeat Logan in NYC, where he has a lot of connections.

So there is only one way to make this work. He needs to take Karolia back to her hometown which is also his own. His den is the only place where he can do everything in his way.

Micah smirked as he got a brilliant idea. He dialed a number right away. After six rings, a familiar voice answered the call.

"Olivier, let's get into the business."

********

Karolia's POV:

"Then I guess it's better to wait until both the boys get back," I said.

"Yeah, I bet they must have got some interesting stories to say after their little trip." Scarlet laughed from the other end.

"Definitely. Alright, you must be feeling pretty tired after the journey. You should rest, don't want you to strain now." I said in a firm tone. Scarlet just got back here after her stay at her grandparents'. We decided to meet up today but from her voice, I was able to say that she was pretty tired. Since Finn and Tyler will be back in a few days we just postponed our meeting to then so that we all could meet up together.

I exchanged my goodbyes with her and was about to put down my phone when I noticed the text message I have gotten.

'I'll be there in 15. Get dressed' - L

I re-read the message again and frowned at the vague text sent by Logan. What the hell? He is again planning to surprise me with a date? If that's the case, I appreciate the effort he's taking to make me happy, but I'm not in the mood for this.

'Where are we going?' - K

I send him a reply with a question. Logan immediately read the text and three dots appeared on the screen which means he's typing a message. I just hope he's not driving now.

'You will know soon' - L

I scoffed, rolling my eyes. Why does this look similar to the conversation we had before the surprise date?

'Don't worry. This isn't what you think. Dress casual' - L

Oh great, at least he knows me well enough to know what my thoughts are right now. I don't need to damage my brain cells by thinking about how to text him without sounding rude and stupid. Just imagine me asking him 'Is this again a date' and he answers NO. It would be so embarrassing and awkward.

Sighing, I replied to him 'okay' and got up from the bed to get dressed. The time on my phone read 12:30 at noon. I haven't even gone for work since Jamie visited us the day before yesterday. Logan says it's dangerous since Micah and Vincent started visiting the office frequently. I didn't argue with him this time for restricting me from something. Just the mere thought of being in the same room as Micah makes me so furious, like burning lava.

I wore skinny jeans and a winter jumper along with my knee-high black boots. My brown hair was pulled up in a ponytail. Exactly after fifteen minutes, I got a text message from Logan to come outside. This man must be given an award for 'the most punctual person'.

Quickly saying goodbye to Grecia, I rushed out of the mansion. Logan was waiting for me in his usual Aston Martin that's parked in the circular driveway. He got out of the car before rushing to my side. Just like a gentleman he is, he opened the door for me. I gave him a sweet smile of gratitude and pecked him on his cheeks before I got in and buckled up. Logan soon joined me. Logan backed the car out of the circular driveway and then out of the gate, two guards following us from behind in a black SUV. Even though it was uncomfortable and awkward for me initially at the thought of guards following my every step, now I got used to it and also to the stares I receive.

"So, where are we going?" I ask him curiously. Logan's free hand was on my thighs, running up and down which sent tingles to my body.

"To a shooting club owned by a friend of mine." My eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. But my doubts were soon answered. "You need to learn how to handle a gun."

My heartbeat started to escalate then and there and I looked at Logan with fear in my eyes. "W-Will this reach that point?" my voice came out shaky. To a point where I have to shoot someone?

Logan looked at me for a second before returning his gaze to the road. "Maybe or may not be. We have to be well prepared," he replied nonchalantly. His response didn't calm me down, instead, it increased my anxiety and fear.

"Also Olivier called," Logan started. "He wants to meet us urgently. I scheduled it for 4 in the evening. Are you okay with it?"

"Yes," I nod my head. "As long as you're there with me, I'm alright." I give him a warm smile. Logan brought my hand to his lips and kissed my knuckles.

"Always and forever with you."

******

I just started to learn some basic things about pistol shooting like how to handle it and the parts of it for starters. I tried to shoot today and let me tell you it took a lot of time to even steady my hands in the beginning. My hands wouldn't stop shaking at first and Logan had to make me catch it with his hands enveloping mine and guiding me through everything. The force with which the bullet thrust out of the pistol was so strong that I flinched back and my hands almost gave up. I understood I will have to take up a lot of time to learn to properly shoot at the given target.

My jaw dropped all the time when I looked at Logan who effortlessly shot at the target without flinching even a tiny bit. How can he do that? I just imagined the amount of practice that he had done to perfect this. Why did he learn to even shoot in the first place? Has he ever been to that extent of a danger where it threatened lives? Who am I to even ask when I had been a witness to a whole bomb blast.

We had reached the mansion half an hour back. The meeting with Olivier was scheduled at the mansion itself, in Logan's office. Grecia was out with her friends and will not return till late at night, so we have an ample amount of time to discuss matters with Olivier.

Exactly at 3:55, Olivier's Camry entered through the gate. Logan was waiting for him near the porch steps whereas I was watching them from the window that overlooked the front of the mansion on the first floor.

Both men nodded at each other before they walked inside the house. I took deep breaths to calm my raging emotions. I have a feeling this meeting is something that might bring a dilemma in me. A dilemma of whether to step in along with Logan beside me and give no promises to our future or to step out and give promises to make a future. I know the option will be left for me to choose from.

The sound of footsteps snapped me out of my train of thoughts and I straightened up immediately. Logan's figure first came into view following Olivier. My sharp gaze met with the cat green eyes and we both stared at each other for five seconds before Olivier looked away first. I smirked in satisfaction.

"Welcome Olivier," I said in a confident tone. I can tell he was surprised but didn't express it. He nodded his head and said "Karolia, good to see you again."

"Feeling's mutual," I replied.

We three entered Logan's office space. Logan had made the seating arrangement in such a way that there are two chairs behind the desk for us to sit and a single chair across us for Olivier to sit.

"So, what is the urgent matter you want to talk about?" Logan jumped in the question without beating around the bush. Olivier chuckled slightly, shaking his head.

"Someone is on fire. I expected at least a glass of water. Isn't that courtesy, Watson?" Logan's jaw and fist clenched at Olivier's statement but he didn't reply as I placed my hand on his thigh in a warning. We need to stay calm to discuss things peacefully. I got up from my seat before walking towards the mini-refrigerator and grabbed a bottle of water. I poured into a glass before placing it in front of Olivier.

"Here you go. Now let's start." I said and again took my seat beside Logan.

"So, what is it?" Logan asked again.

"The Boss is still in New York. And I know he won't leave until he gets what he wants. Karolia." Olivier said and his tone was so firm indicating that he is sure of what he is talking about. We still haven't informed Olivier that we discovered the Boss's identity and we aren't planning to tell him either.

"How do you know that?" I asked, faking surprise.

"I have my resources," he said nonchalantly. "Also Boss called me last night after a long time. He asked me for a favor. To bring Karolia to him." Olivier said, which made me gulp. I presume Micah is very cautious with his surroundings, knowing that if Olivier sees him, he will try to kill Micah right away. Maybe that's why Olivier isn't able to catch him yet. I also figured Micah might have finally asked Olivier's help again to capture me since he has already visited the mansion and saw the tight security which is always around me. He now understood the difficulty of getting to me.

Logan's body was stiff and tense as he carefully listened to every word Olivier was saying.

"But I'm with you guys. That's why I immediately came to say this." Olivier said seriously. I nod my head at him, silently saying we appreciate that he's in our team.

"So what are you saying, Olivier?" Logan asked him.

"I have an idea to end this cat and mouse game forever." Olivier proposed.

"How?" Logan asked, eyeing Olivier intently. Oliver leaned back in his hair and crossed his arms against his chest.

"We need to plot an idea to bring the Boss in front of us. For that, Karolia must stand as bait here."

I frowned in confusion, not getting what he's pointing on. Bait? How?

"Explain," Logan said.

"To bring him to the light, I need to act like I caught Karolia and is ready to hand her over to him. As soon as he comes into view, we can kill him."

"Y-You mean, kidnap me?" I asked him with a slight stutter.

"Yes," Olivier answered without batting an eye. Logan leaned back in his chair after releasing a loud snort.

"What makes you think I'll agree to this? I won't send her alone to this trap." Logan scoffed. Olivier chuckled.

"I know you wouldn't allow, Watson. That's why I've one more idea to propose." Olivers said. Logan and I leaned forward to the table, intrigued to know what he came up with now.

"I will be taking Karolia in a van as part of the kidnapping to whatever place the Boss is asking me to come to. And Logan can be disguised as the driver of the van, as my helper. In that way, we both can be present and stay together to defeat the Boss." Olivier announced. Logan and I looked at each other, communicating through our eyes before we nodded our head to Oliver. We agree with the plan.

"Perfect," Olivier exclaimed. "Now let's get into details."

Logan and I know it might be soon to agree to this plan. We're playing with fire and it screams danger. There isn't a guarantee of whether we will win this game, but we are ready to take the risk. Also, there isn't any other better option than this and, surely, Micah's folks will be there with him. So we can defeat not only Micah but all his people. It's like killing many birds with one stone.

"When should we execute the plan?" Logan asked after our hours of discussion.

"Sooner, the better," Olivier replied. Logan looked at me and I gave him a slight nod of confirmation.

"Alright, let's keep it for Thursday. That's two days from now since we have a lot of arrangements to do."

******

(Next day)

'Karrie!" Scarlet exclaimed loudly and ran towards me before pulling me into her familiar bone-crushing hug. I laughed loudly at this girl's liveliness and rubbed her back.

"Hey Scar," we pulled back from the hug and my eyes raked her up and down. "Girl, you're becoming chubby," I ruffled her hair in a teasing manner. Scarlet scowled at me and pushed my hand away from her.

"Nanna was stuffing me up, Karrie." she exclaimed "The food was so delicious that I couldn't even stop eating. Can you believe it? I couldn't stop. My intake of sugary food went beyond my usual limits." she again exclaimed in disbelief. I laughed at my best friend. She can't stop eating, yet she complains. Scarlet's family wasn't very happy at first when she told them about her pregnancy since she is still young and was doing her uni. They had a long talk with Patrick and I guess since then they came around and became supportive. Seems to me that they liked Patrick very much. And now her parents as well as her grandma are waiting for the little one to be born and are pampering her, or so she said.

"Karolia!" Tyler hollered as soon as he stepped out of the car. Every guard turned to him in surprise when he screeched loudly and I bet they might be thinking 'who released him from the zoo'. I chuckled at my joke before concentrating on the boy who's speed-running towards me. I squealed loudly as he picked me off the ground and twirled me around. "I missed you, kitten." he squeezed my cheeks happily.

"I mwised ywu too," I said with him still squeezing my cheeks. My childish voice made us cackle up. Behind Tyler was Finn who had a dazed look on his face. His eyes were zeroed on the guards patrolling the area.

"Hey, Finn," I waved at him. His eyes snapped towards us before a sheepish grin formed on his face.

"Hi, Karolia." He came forward to hug me. "How have you been?"

"I'm feeling great now that you three came," I said excitedly. Today I decided to invite Scarlet, Patrick, Tyler, and Finn to the mansion for a hangout since they all are back after their little trips. Patrick couldn't come as he had a business meeting to attend but he promised to join later.

"Where did Logan Watson find these guards from? Every one of them is so hot." Finn exclaimed in a daze. Tyler slapped the back of his head whereas Scarlet and I laughed at him. He can't be blamed though. All guards do look good, but not as good looking and mouth-watering as their Boss aka my boyfriend.

Day after tomorrow is the day when we will be executing our plan and I wanted to spend some quality time with my friends before that day arrives. Grecia is visiting her friend and Logan is at his office, so we have the whole house to ourselves. It was Logan's idea to invite them to the mansion as he says it's not safe for me to go out with my enemies roaming in NYC itself. Look at my fate, I ran from Worcester as I wasn't safe there and now also, in one of the crowdest cities of the world, I'm still not safe.

"Come on in guys," I said and invited them.

"Hmm...smells heavenly in here." Tyler sniffed deeply before turning to look at me. "What did you make?"

I gave him a smirk and Tyler and Scarlet immediately understood what it was.

"Sushi!!" They both yelled at the same time before running to the kitchen like five-year-olds. Finn and I laughed loudly before following those two.

"Guys, slowly," I chide them, chuckling. Scarlet and Tyler were gulping down the sushi, trying to push each other away in between. Daniella was staring at them wide-eyed, frozen near the refrigerator.

"It's so good, Karrie." Scarlet praised, her mouth full.

"Daniella made it." I gave the credit to our cook but it seems like they didn't hear amidst stuffing their mouth as much as possible. Finn and I joined them soon and the next one hour was spent by us trying to eat the entire kitchen. Yes, that's possible with a pregnant woman and two boys that look like they haven't seen food for the last 3 days.

After filling our stomach and praising Daniella and her blessed hands, we were lounging in the gaming room in the basement. At first, we wasted the time just chattering about random things before Tyler suggested playing truth and dare. So now we were sitting on the floor in a circle with an empty beer bottle between us.

The bottle was spun and Scarlet got the first chance to ask the question, much to her pleasure.

"Finn," she turned to Finn. "Truth or dare?" she wiggled her eyebrows.

"Bring on the best dare you got," he smirked, flexing his muscles. Scarlet pondered for a second before her face brightened up.

"I dare you to stand on this pool table and twerk," Scarlet smirked back. Tyler and I clapped, showing our appreciation for the dare. Finn got up from the ground before smoothly climbing on the pool table and showed his back to us. I quickly took my phone and started recording as Tyler and Scarlet cheered loudly for the man twerking in front of us. After twerking for almost three minutes, Finn bowed in front of us and dramatically flipped his non-existing long hair behind his shoulder before jumping down from the table.

We then continued with our game, giving dares and asking juicy questions if someone opted for the truth. It was hilarious and we had a hearty laugh to a point where our mouth and stomach started aching. The bottle spun for a few seconds before it stopped in front of me. I rubbed my hands happily and eyed three of them before I fixed my gaze on a relaxed Tyler.

"Ty, truth, or dare?" I asked, hoping he would choose to dare. He gave me a 'duh' look and answered 'I'm always daring' while wiggling his eyebrows.

"Perfect." I grinned cheekily. "Let the dare be a secret for now," I announced and crawled towards Tyler before whispering in his ears. Tyler looked at me wide-eyed.

"Are you serious?" he asked. I nod my head giddily, excited to see the outcome.

"Alright." Tyler sighed and got up before strolling out of the gaming room.

"What did you give him?" Scarlet asking, stuffing chips into her mouth. Didn't she finish one packet just an hour back? Pregnant Scarlet is always hungry, lol.

"You'll see." I winked at them. Tyler was taking more than five minutes to return and so we started getting bored and decided to continue with the game until he arrived.

"Ta-da!" We turned our head to the door before we started guffawing. Tyler is dressed in my red bikini with skirtini bottoms paired with my black stiletto heels and is now cat-walking in front of us as if this is a ramp model show. The material was too small for his body and it looked like the fabric would snap any moment. Finn was on the floor, clutching his stomach as he laughed out loud. Scarlet was picturing this moment where I was slapping on the ground and laughing, tears forming in our eyes. We would stop laughing for a second to compose ourselves and again end up a laughing mess upon seeing Tyler.

"What the hell!" a voice spoke out from the threshold of the room and we turned our head to see Logan and Patrick staring at Tyler with a baffled expression. Tyler froze before he quickly tried to cover his body with his hands and that made me and Scarlet chortle again. Seeing he has no other option, Tyler ran out of the room like a cat whose tail was on fire.

Logan and Patrick turned their heads to look at Tyler's running figure before they looked at each other and communicated through their eyes, still having that confused look on their face.

"Log, Pat. Come join us." I invited them. Logan was wearing a black t-shirt and black joggers and I realized he changed before he came down to the gaming room. But that makes me wonder, how did Tyler find the bikini without Logan noticing?

Logan and Patrick walked towards us before sitting beside me and Scarlet. Logan wrapped his arm around my waist before slightly lifting me and placing me on his lap. I squealed before giggling.

"Hey," I turned my head to look at him and give him a charming smile.

"Hey, beautiful." he dips his head to peck my lips. "Is your gay friend alright?" he asked me, eyeing the door. I narrowed my eyes at the name he gave to Tyler.

"His name is Tyler, Log" I giggled "And yes, he's alright. Just doing a dare."

Finn was awkwardly sitting there, his eyes shifting from Logan to Patrick and vice versa. If he thinks guards were hot, then definitely Log and Pat will be models. I introduced Fin to Log and Pat as they haven't properly met before. Tyler came back fully dressed, but his cheeks were tinted pink.

"Let's resume the game." I clapped my hands to bring everyone's attention. I moved away from Logan's lap and sat beside him before spinning the bottle. The bottle took its time to spin before it finally landed on Tyler.

"Ha!" Tyler exclaimed and right away, his eyes zeroed onto mine. I gulped silently as I saw the mischievousness in his eyes. 'Challenge on' his eyes said. Oh shoot, I'm in trouble.

"Karrie, single dare or double dare?" he asked. I frowned at him.

"It's the truth or dare, Ty," I stated but he just only smirked.

"My question. My rules." he winked at me and I huffed before mumbling that I chose 'single dare'.

"I dare you to…." I held my breath and bit my lip, anticipation increasing as he purposefully lagged his statement. "I dare you to make out with Logan's hand."

I choked on my saliva and my eyes widened like saucers. W-What? Tyler had a proud smirk on his face. Patrick started whistling, chuckling in between, Finn looked like he was trying hard not to laugh out loud whereas Scarlet had a pained look on her face, pain for my misery. At least someone is concerned about me. I turned my head around to look at Logan who had an emotionless face.

"What if I don't want to do it?"

"Then you gotta strip in front of us." Tyler just shrugged his shoulder as if he just didn't push me off from a cliff. How the hell am I supposed to make out with his hand?! I have trouble with making out normally with Logan and I just always try to follow his lead, now let alone his hand.

"Baby, tone it down for her. Poor girl looks like she would die out of embarrassment." Finn chuckled and I glared at him and then back to Tyler. Tyler appeared to be in thought before he sighed.

"Alright, I will change it. I dare you to make out with a pizza for five minutes" he said and I huffed at him. How is that any better? My glare intensified and I wish I could slam his head onto a wall. "Now no more compromise." He announced.

"Get this over with Karrie. It seems like you got no option" Scar said and I sighed defeatedly. She is right.

"Alright, I'll do it," I said, still glaring at Tyler. I took one slice of pizza from the box that's kept at the side and placed it in front of my mouth and started biting slowly while puckering my lips. Patrick started making kissing noise in the background to make it more realistic. Thanks, Pat. I appreciate it.

Scar and the boys, except Logan, started cheering for me as soon as I finished. I noticed Logan had his jaw and fist clenched and his blue eyes turned dark. Logan's Adam's apple bobbed down his throat.

'F***' I heard him cursing under his breath before he got up from the seat abruptly. "Excuse me," he said, and hurriedly walked out of the room with long strides. I looked at him with wide eyes.

"Damn...looks like roles are reversed now." Patrick chuckled as we stared at the threshold. Earlier it was Tyler who rushed out due to embarrassment and now it's Logan. But it's not an embarrassment, we know. He rushed to calm himself down.

I looked at my lap, my cheeks turning red like a tomato.

"Why is trouble always following me?"

(The night before The Plan)

Sitting on the floor in front of the bed, I watched the clouds moving slowly towards the full moon before it fully covered the moon behind it. It looked like the clouds were trying to hide, NO, protect the moon from danger or evil eyes by them blanketing the beautiful moon. This made me realize how our world is. There is both beauty and ugliness in this world. Moon is an example of beauty while evil eyes and those who want to kidnap the moon are an example of ugly. Amidst them are people like clouds who are trying to protect beauty.

The sound of the door opening alerted my ears but I didn't turn my eyes away from the window. The door closed and I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. Logan didn't turn the light on and I prefer it that way.

"Lia?" Logan whisper-asked silently and even his low tone was so loud in this silent room. I turn my head up to look at the bright blue eyes that's looking down at me. "Why are you sitting in the dark?" he asked. Without responding, I lifted my arm and tugged his hand down. Getting the cue, he bent down and sat beside me before looking at me curiously.

"What happened?" he asked in a whisper. I could detect concern from his voice. I smiled at him and shook my head.

"It's nothing. I was just admiring the night sky." I whispered back. I don't know why we are whispering to each other but I'm not complaining about it. Logan hummed in response and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me closer to his body. I placed my head on his shoulder and took his hand and played with his fingers absentmindedly, forgetting about my moon and theory about beauty and ugliness.

"What happened, love?" he asked me, kissing my hair. "I noticed you were distracted today for most of the time."

"Is that so? Maybe it's because I wasn't in the mood." I informed him. I lifted my head and looked at him. "How did you notice? You were hardly at home." I asked him. Logan chuckled softly.

"If I'm not physically present with you doesn't mean I'm watching you, love. I can understand your every emotion and movement, Lia." My heart melted at his declarant and I gulped, trying to keep my emotions at bay. Today my emotions were all over the place and it kept increasing as the time ticked by.

"I got something for you." I suddenly remembered and got up on my knees to take something from under my pillow. I then sat beside him before giving him my present. It was a dark grey silver beaded long chain with a rectangular locket in the middle. Logan smiled and took the chain from my hand and studied the design. Even though the light isn't turned on in the room, the light from the night sky is enough to see things.

"I know this is nothing compared to what you have gifted me. But I could only find this chain in this short time." I quickly said. Logan smiled and leaned forward to take my lips in his. Tingles shot inside my body and my toes curled at the euphoric feeling I'm experiencing.

"This is the best gift. Thank you, love," he said and I smiled into the kiss, caressing his cheeks with my fingers.

"Open the locket," I said excitedly, pulling back from the kiss. Logan gave me a confused smile before he clicked open the small lock at the side of the pendant. Inside the pendant was a small picture of me and Logan laughing at each other in a carefree manner. The photo was a candid one clicked by Patrick and it turned out to be one of the best ones among the photos we have.

"This is so beautiful, Lia," he whispered back. His blue eyes bored into my eyes and my mouth opened in shock. Logan's eyes were welled up with tears before a single tear rolled down from his eye.

"Oh, Log, Why are you crying?" I questioned, suddenly worried that I did something wrong. He shook his head and wiped his tears away.

"Don't worry. It's just happy tears. This gift means a lot to me than you can imagine, love." he says and kisses my forehead. I closed my eyes and bit my lip, suddenly overwhelmed with happy emotions. Logan gave the chain back asking me to put it on him. I nod my head and put the chain through his head to his neck. The chain was long enough that the pendant was resting on his chest.

"Now we both have something that reminds of each other." I smiled at him and Logan agreed. I then again laid my head on his shoulder and we both gazed at the night sky.

"Log, are you nervous about tomorrow?" I asked after a few moments of comfortable silence. There was another moment of silence before he answered,

"No. Are you?"

"A Lil bit." I nod my head. "What if we lose, Log?" I express my fear. Logan's grip tightened on my shoulder and he pulled me closer to him.

"No, we won't," he reassured but it looked like he was convincing himself more than me. I hummed in response.

"I'm just glad you'll be there with me, Logan," I whispered.

"As long as you're there with me, I know I can overcome any impossible mission."
