Unforeseen

Karolia's POV:

"Goodbye, Grecia." I hugged her tightly, pouring all my love and affection into it. There is a slight possibility this might be the last time I might be seeing her beautiful face. As I'm not sure if I will be able to come back to her and hug her again after everything is over. Therefore I wanted to cherish this moment as much as I can.

"Have fun and come back soon, sweetheart. Give Micah my regards as well, yeah?" Grecia said as soon as she pulled away from me.

"Definitely. I'll be back soon" I smiled sadly and kissed her cheeks. I bit my trembling lip as I glanced at Logan, who had a soft look on his face.

"Shall we go?" He asked with an intense look. I nod my head and glance at Grecia, who had already diverted her focus on the big TV screen.

Logan and I had said Grecia that I would be going to spend some time with Micah before he leaves New York. Logan came with his usual excuse that he will be working for long hours for today, and the best thing is that Grecia didn't suspect any of our reasons. I finally left the mansion with a heavy heart. Even though I'm putting on a brave face in front of everyone, I am basically shaking in nervousness inside. But I couldn't hide it from my boyfriend.

I was pulled back from getting in the van by a firm hand. I looked up to see the familiar deep blue eyes boring into mine, which for some reason clenched my heart, thus making it difficult for me to look at it. I looked down to hide the tears that fell.

"Lia, look at me." I heaved a sigh before I lifted my gaze from his chest to look at him. Logan's hands came up to cup my face very tenderly. His eyes softened upon seeing my glassy eyes and his thumb soon wiped the tears away. I licked my lips as my heartbeat increased a bit.

"Nothing, and I mean nothing will happen to you. I won't let anyone harm you. I will protect you with everything, even if it costs my death, love. You hear that?" Logan asked looking straight into my unsteady eyes. I nodded my head and gulped my emotions. I shouldn't cry. I should be strong. I repeated it in my head again and again. I studied his face and lifted my pinky finger to him. Logan smiled at me and circled his pinkie around mine before he brought to his lips and pressed a lingering kiss on it. Always and Forever. Logan arms then wrapped around my small figure and he pushed my face into his chest. I felt the locket I gave him resting on his chest beneath his shirt and I hugged him back tightly.

"I love you," He said before kissing the top of my head. I pulled back and glanced at him.

"I love you," I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him on his lips. I was only planning for a peck but Logan deepened the kiss. The intensity of his kiss threw me off guard but I was quick to reciprocate. When I felt the need to breathe in the air, I pulled back and looked at his eyes. Right now I could see all the tension and fear he was hiding. I understood just like me he was trying to stay strong. But I could also see the determination in them, which gave me the slightest confidence.

We had asked Olivier to join us in the van as soon as we crossed the boundary of the mansion. He had already sent a text to us a few minutes back notifying his arrival.

My fingers graze the pendant of the necklace that Logan had gifted me the night at his penthouse. I was surprised to know what the jewelry actually contained when Logan had revealed it to me this morning. There is a small tracker as well as an audio recorder fitted inside this little pendant. No wonder he didn't allow me to open the locket that day. Patrick will be in his place, tracking my location every now and then so that we could keep track of everything. We decided not to tell this to Olivier and keep this small information to ourselves. Let's just say that it's a precaution from our side.

"It's time," William announced from the door. Logan nodded back and they both shared an intense eye contact before he turned to me.

"Come on." Logan thrust his hand for me to take. I released a heavy breath before taking his hands and walked to the van.

I hope everything goes well and we can soon come back home safely.

Olivier's POV:

I tap my fingers on the steering wheel as I wait for the van to arrive. It's been ten minutes since I came, and I was asked to remain at the junction road a few kilometers away from the Watson mansion. I glanced at the scenery in front of me, and the calmness the vicinity had felt like an irony. Oh, how this day is going to turn out is nothing close to calm. I smirked as I imagined what it will be like in a few hours from now on.

I glanced at my phone, which pinged with a message.

'We are here.' - Logan

I looked up at the once empty road, and true to his words I was able to see the grey GMC Savana van coming towards my car. I took out the gun from the center storage box of the vehicle and quickly plunged it at the back of my pants and made sure it was well secured with the tightness of my pant belt. I got out of the car and locked it before putting the key and my phone in one of my front pant pockets.

I peaked a look at the front of the van and I was surprised to see Logan, who had put on his black cap and an aviator glass. But I was caught off guard by the fake thick beard that he had attached to his jaw. Why am I not surprised? The boy is clever. But none of his precautions is going to save him from what is going to happen in a few hours.

"Almost didn't recognize you there, Watson," I commented as soon as I got in the van. Logan's face turned to me slightly to acknowledge my presence.

"Safety measures." That was his only reply. I nodded my head in agreement although inside I was feeling a slight pity about his fate. I glance to my side to find the petite girl, who has been the reason for everything, sitting close to the right door of the van...far away from me.

Her face was set straight forwards, not even sparing me a glance. I looked at her intently and felt her slightly move in her position. It gave me an unexplainable pride when I saw her squirm in fear of me. The bait is scared but is putting on a fierce face. I realized with satisfaction.

"I can see the strong determination in your eyes, Miss Kingston," I said, trying to get a reaction from her. She heaved a sigh before she turned to face me.

"I'm just waiting to get this over with, Olivier." She said. I was about to talk again when I heard the voice of Logan.

"Where to?" His face tipped upwards, facing the rearview mirror. I wish I could see his eyes so I could at least understand what he is feeling. Who am I kidding? Studying the emotion of Logan Watson is the toughest thing I have ever tried. I have no idea how the guy still keeps a straight face amidst all of this.

"It's not a place that we know, Watson. For now, the only instruction that the Boss gave me is to cross the city limits through the highway road. I believe he will call me in the middle to give us the directions from there on." I explained. I saw Logan's stare not wavering from my face for a couple of seconds before he focussed his attention back on the car.

Soon the car restarted and was driving through the crowded signals of NYC. The atmosphere inside the van was so thick and tense that no one dared to talk. I know for a fact that Logan is someone who is not much of words. He's showing his professionalism here. The way he kept on glancing at me through the rearview mirror was a give away that he was indeed watching my every movement.

'Don't worry, Watson. I have no will to touch your girl. But someone else is eagerly waiting for that.'

A smirk formed on my lips instantly at the thought of it. I can't wait to see the reaction of both of them once they know what I have hidden up my sleeves. On the other side, the poor girl didn't even turn to me after the little talk we had in the beginning. I hardly call it a conversation though. She was looking out of the window the whole time.

'Look all you want. This will be the last time for you to see New York street before you will be taken away to where you belong'

I kept on glancing at my watch to make sure that we are being on time so that I don't mess up the plan. Once we entered the highway road it was just a matter of time. The seconds kept ticking as I gazed outside through the window. I noticed that there weren't many cars surrounding us, only one which is a few kilometers in front of us. I checked the time and half an hour had already passed. My nerves kicked in and I found myself tapping my foot impatiently. Why aren't they here yet?

Just after fifteen minutes, I felt the vibration in my pocket, indicating Micah's call. I smirked as soon as I spotted the big passenger van coming towards us from the opposite side at high speed. Although I couldn't see much of Logan's face, I was able to see the panic from how restless his hand moved on the steering wheel trying to evade the vehicle coming opposite to us. Micah is smart to choose this road. There is no CCTV in this area of the highway and the one which is kept is a few kilometers forward. There won't be any proof of the little commotion that's going to take place here.

Karolia appeared confused at first and looked ahead trying to find the reason for the abrupt driving of the vehicle. That was my cue and I took out the pistol from the back of my pants and placed it on Logan's head.

"There is nothing you could do anymore, Watson. Now, stop the van." I said in a dangerously threatening voice.

"You bastard!" Karolia who just saw my little stunt started to panic and started hitting my hands, trying to take my pistol-held hand away from her boyfriend's head. I tried my best to fight her off but once it turned out to be challenging to control her, I pushed her off me hard with my right hand. Her head hit the window and she recoiled and yelled Logan's name in pain. The opposite vehicle soon stopped in front of us blocking our way which eventually made our van screech to a halt.

Six men, all dressed in black, got out of the opposite van and ran towards our vehicle. When I felt Logan move from my side, I pressed the gun tighter on his forehead which made him stiffen. I saw the deep breaths that he released, trying to gain his composure and plan his next move. It's funny to see him calculating his step that's undoubtedly going to be in vain.

One of the men opened the driver seat door before pulling Logan out of the car with their handguns. As soon as Logan was pulled out, the other men opened the side door for me and I grabbed the arm of Karolia to get her out.

"No, noooo. No, Please." Karolia struggled, crying her heart out.

"Stop struggling and come with me obediently. The Boss is waiting for you, Kingston. Don't want him to get angry by being late. So, come on." I said to her with gritted teeth. This girl surely knows how to get on my nerves. Even after a year, nothing has changed.

"You cheat! You are a traitor. How could you?!!" She yelled at me. I rolled my eyes as I felt my patience thinning.

"Take her to the car," I ordered one of the men and shoved the struggling girl towards him. I soon walked out to where the other men were handling Logan. I could say that he was putting on a great fight but a single person cannot defeat five other equally skilled fighters. Even if he could, he cannot fight a bullet. Can he?

I shot his leg as soon as I got a good aim. I heard a loud groan from Logan as he slumped to the ground clutching his right leg. A loud screaming quickly followed his moan as Karolia came into view, restrained by Micah's man. Tears streamed down her face as she saw her loved one getting shot.

"NOOO," She yelled at me, kicking her legs to free herself. The man who was holding her captive smacked her head and she stopped struggling at once. Her teary eyes looked at me in fear and pleaded for me to stop.

"Don't do this. You don't have to do this. STOP!!!" She cried. But her cries never wavered me, before and even now. I walked up to her and my eyes bored into her teary ones.

"Ohh, poor you. It must suck to see your boyfriend in this state, isn't it? Don't worry, Boss is waiting for you with a better gift than him." I said before I smacked her across her face. The force of the slap resulted in her knocked out cold in the man's arms.

"Heeyyy," Logan yelled from afar once he saw his unconscious girlfriend. I turned around to see him seething in anger. His sunglasses were thrown off and his usual dark blue eyes somehow looked different today. 'Must be his anger,' I thought.

"Get her inside the car," I ordered the man and he soon carried her on his shoulder to the big passenger van.

I approached the groaning and moaning slumped figure of Logan Watson. I wanted to laugh at him but I held back. The man who is always careful not to let anything slip away and make everything work in his own ways is now lying down in the middle of the road, helplessly not knowing where he went wrong.

"You planned too much, Watson," I said and crouched down to his level.

"You should have stopped fighting and given that pity girl up way before. You brought this on yourself. Now, look at you." I smirked, shaming him.

"Do you think I am that stupid, Logan? The Boss is way ahead of you. And I can't take any risks by siding with you when I know how much bigger and powerful the Boss is. So forgive me, Watson. I hope you haven't taken this to heart." I said in a sickly sweet tone to which Logan sneered.

"I must say, I expected you to put on a bigger fight. But anyway, your choice made it easier for us." I said nonchalantly and stood up from my crouching position.

"F*** you." Logan spat at me. I gritted my teeth and in the rush of anger, I punched his face hard. He spitted blood and coughed violently.

"Goodbye, Watson," I said in a calm tone before I signaled the three men to finish him off. I entered into the passenger van at once without even sparing him a second glance. The van soon took off and I glanced at the unconscious body of Karolia in the back seat. Her hands were tied together and two men sitting at either side of the car door.

I had ordered the other three men to kill Logan before taking the van and disposing of his body in it and make it look like an accident. Half the way through the journey, I got the next call from the Boss, and this time I picked up.

"Tell me that the boy is dead." That was the first thing Micah said as soon as I attended the phone. I scoffed at his enthusiasm.

"I shot him, but he isn't dead yet. I asked the men to kill him since we were running out of time." I said.

"Alright, then I will check with them. Is the girl safe?" He asked. I glanced at Karolia from the rearview mirror again before replying to him that she was fine.

"I need her alive, keep that in mind. And I hope she still doesn't know who I am. I want to see the shock in her eyes once she sees me." He said while laughing heartily. I was able to hear one more voice in the background. I assume it to be his son, Vincent. Like father, like son.

"Nope, she still doesn't have any idea," I said. "Will you now tell me where we are heading?" I asked as impatience seeped into me.

"Calm down there, Campbell. The boys know where to go. You just have to sit tight. Now no more calls Olivier. I will see you once you reach." I huffed out a breath. This man really knows how to work me up. I angrily cut the call and glanced at the side mirror. We have turned to a new road which looks barely used and the highway is long gone.

I hope they have killed Watson already.

********

I stare at the two-storeyed old building in front of me with a frown on my face. The one who was driving the van honked to which the big gate took the signal and opened at once. As soon as the man parked the vehicle in front of the house, the main door of the house opened to reveal almost ten other men, all dressed in black again.

I looked behind me to find Karolia, struggling while sitting between the two men who were trying to keep her still. It took almost half an hour for us to reach this place and she woke up in between with a loud scream and started creating a scene, crying and begging us to release her. Once her screams and sounds started to get annoying, we plastered a tape around her mouth to keep her shut. The girl can make all the ears of the four men in this car to bleed. I restrained myself from hitting her again as I was afraid I would hurt her badly which wouldn't be much appreciated by Micah.

The house was pretty huge enclosed by tall compound walls making it difficult for anyone to get inside this abandoned building. I'm pretty sure I have seen this building in one of the most haunted houses lists. I shake my head at Micah's unexpected choice. Since this place is sealed close by the government, no one will even dare to trespass, especially since it is labeled as a haunted one. Smart move, Boss.

I got out of the van and soon saw a tall figure walk out of the house. He was wearing a formal attire of dark blue jeans and a plain white button-up shirt. I noticed his expensive Dior glasses covering his eyes as he came towards me.

"Olivier Campbell. Glad to meet my dad's most trusted thug. I'm Vincent." He announced and opened his right palm for a handshake. I eyed him for a second before I shook his hands.

"Glad to meet you too, Vincent." I greeted him back with a slight head nod. He looked like the younger version of his dad. But his face displayed much more darkness contrasting to his dad's soft face with which he efficiently uses to manipulate others.

"You..!!"

Both of our heads turned back to eye the frail girl in the arms of two men. Her eyes directed towards Vincent with nothing but pure hatred.

"Finally, I got to see you without your little boyfriend tagging along," Vincent commented with a naughty smile on his face.

"You will regret this, you scoundrel." Was the only thing she said with her gritted teeth and piercing eyes before she was dragged inside the building by the men.

"Dad is waiting for you, come on," Vincent said before he directed me into the building. I scanned the whole interior of the house while I was following behind Vincent. The house looked indeed messy with so much dust and garbage. It was stinky but I'm used to this smell now. Vincent soon opened one of the doors at the far end

What I didn't expect was the clean interior of the room. It was so intact contrasting the front view of the house and the rest of the rooms which looked like the building was old enough to crumble down soon. The inside was perfectly maintained, neat, and clean. I understood that they had paid someone to clean up just this one room and had been planning this for a long time now.

I saw Karolia at the corner of the room. She was on the floor sitting in a W position. Her tears streamed down her face and she had a hateful look on her eyes as she looked at Micah. I could tell it was much more prominent than hate. More like she abhorred him at this moment. But what surprised me is that she wasn't struggling anymore. She was just sitting there with all her hope gone. She is coming to terms with it. Good thing.

"Here she is," Micah commented as he eyed Karolia's crumbled figure.

"You kept your promise, Olivier. I appreciate your loyalty that you haven't forgotten even after a year." He said and looked straight into my eyes as if to see through me whether I'm cheating him or not. His sweet smile made me clench my teeth in anger.

"It isn't loyalty, Micah. How would you expect me to have that when you killed my wife right in front of me." I spat at him and he looked taken aback for a second. His smile which always manipulated me wavered for a moment but it was back almost immediately. He tilted his head asking me to continue.

"You promised me half of the share, remember. I hope you keep your word now, Micah." I said boldly.

That is our agreement. Yes, killing him was my first motive but then Micah had convinced me with an excellent deal I couldn't think otherwise. He promised me half of the share he would get from Karolia's account. It was another reason why he didn't kill Karolia, I learned recently. But the only condition to retrieve the money was her age limit. She had to turn twenty in order for the bank to open her account or another possibility is a Kingston can access even before she turns twenty. Which is what Micah's next plan is aiming at. But the saddest thing is that the girl still doesn't have any idea about all this. She has no idea what the future has in store for her.

"Yes, absolutely, Olivier. How can I forget that." Micah exclaimed, feigning innocence.

"This little girl here has brought so much trouble for you, so I might as well use her in settling your life as well as mine," Micah said with a smirk, and this time I joined him on imagining the prospects from the outcome.

Micah soon directed his attention to Karolia, who had a deep frown set on her face. He crouched down to her level before sitting on his knees in front of her.

"My sweet little girl, I'm sorry that you had to discover everything this way. Uncle promise you that I won't hurt you anymore if you come with us willingly. Will you?" Micah asked her sweetly. Although both of us expected to hear her yell at him or try to attack him, we were unprepared for what she did next. She spat at Micah straight to his face with a loathing look.

"Go to hell, you bastard." She uttered each word with disgust. Micah was taken aback, to say the least. Micah wiped the spat off his face. Although he didn't show any reactions, I was able to sense that he was seething in anger. The clenched jaw and tight fists gave it away. He slowly stood up from his spot and called for one of his workers. The man gave him a handkerchief with which he wiped his face clean before he opened his eyes.

He glared at the girl who had dared to spit at his face. The next move was somehow predictable from his side. His hand smacked her face hard enough that she fell back at the intensity.

"You piece of shit! How dare you! I'm not planning to keep you alive for much longer, so behave and don't anger me unless you want me to reduce your already short living time." He spat with seething anger. This man usually maintains his composure in all situations. But I have only seen Micah getting angry once. Just once. When I had to report him about Karolia's escape. That was the only time I have seen him lose his shit. But surprisingly it happened again and due to the same girl.

"I wanted to kill your dad with my own hands. But unfortunately, I couldn't risk showing up there. But I had a talk with him just before his death. I knew he found out about me earlier that month itself. F*** the organization your dad was working for. If it wasn't for TRIXEYE, nothing would have happened and we would all have continued to live like the best family friends ever. But his idiotic head decided to turn against me and ruin everything just because he trusted his organization's words"

"But my anger intensified when I learned Benjamin transferred all the money and properties invested for Kingston Co. to your account and even wrote a will for that. He neglected my work for the company as soon as he learned about my side business, bastard. He even had the audacity to block all the money that I had earned. He somehow restricted everything that was supposed to get in my hands. My money which I have earned. Who cares if it was obtained legally or illegally. It was all mine. But he decided to deprive me of acquiring it. That turned me selfish and I craved for all the money your family had, even the money he made through TRIXEYE. Therefore I killed him so that my reputation won't be ruined in the business industry. I can't risk everything just because of your dad's stupid decisions. And to get the money, I only needed you. But all my expectations were destroyed when you escaped from me." Micah recalled everything glaring at the ground in anger. I noticed how his fists had turned white.

Karolia on the other hand was crying the whole time. Her face showed disbelief. She must be shocked to hear everything from the Boss himself. Can't blame her though. Even I would be surprised to find out that the man who I have trusted all my life is the reason behind the death of my loved ones. Her lips were bleeding by this moment. Her face was all red and it reminded me of the day when I kidnapped her after killing her parents. It was one year back and looks like fate is going to repeat again. But this time I hardly doubt she will ever escape again.

"W-Why did you kill my mother then? She didn't have a role in TRIXEYE, then why?" Karolia's tiny voice made all of us turn to her.

"Ohh, sweetheart. You got it wrong there." Micah exclaimed with a pity face.

"I knew Benjamin like the back of my hand. I knew he would disclose everything to Eleanor, so I had to finish her off as well. I don't like to leave any flaws behind. As simple as that."

"You are a MONSTER! I hope you go to hell." Karolia spat at him again. Micah's face contorted in anger and the next thing I see is his hands yanking Karolia's hair back to make her face him.

"Listen here, pest. You will not open that filthy mouth of yours anymore. If you do then I won't hold back and you are going to end up with a broken mouth, sweetheart." Micah released her hair roughly before pushing her back on the ground. "And honey, I'm a devil. My place is already hell, you don't need to pray for that."

"What are you going to do to me? Kill me? Sell me?" She enquired, tensely. Her nervousness was now on full display. Micah laughed at her question. By laugh, I meant a hearty laugh. Looks like he has calmed down for now and is enjoying the effect he has on Karolia. I was able to relate to him on that point. The fear of people. We feed on the fear of our prey and that gives us immense pleasure.

"I will never kill you, sweetheart. I have so many good plans for you and none of them involve your death, not until I get what I want from you, Karolia Kingston." Karolia's eyes narrowed into slits as she heard Micha's evil laugh which reverberated through the walls of the room. I could say that his reply made Karolia even more confused.

"What if I tell you that your plans are not going to work?" Karolia's voice boomed in the room. All eyes turned to her in shock as we heard the confidence in her voice.

"Hah, this isn't a joke kiddo. No one is coming to save you, not anymore. Your boyfriend is already dead as I got the report. So you have no choice other than to come with me." Micah acclaimed. We were surprised and confused to see a smirk displayed on her face.

"Oh, you're wrong. Terribly wrong." Karolia commented. Is it me or is she becoming cocky? Didn't the girl understand her place yet?

"What?!" Micah asked, quizzically.

The only response we got from her is the smirk that kept intensifying at our confusion. But that was soon wiped off from our faces as we heard the door open in a thud. There stood Logan Watson with his pistol in his hands pointing at Micah.

My mouth opened in shock as I examined his physic. He doesn't look like he is shot or beaten to death. There isn't even a trace of cuts or bruises on his body.

What the hell? Where did I go wrong?
