"Is he sleeping already?" Richard asked me as he walked in quietly into Alex's room and I nodded.

I draped him in my arms, hugging him tightly and stroking his hair gently to soothe him. I kissed his forehead as I watched him let out soft breaths.

"Aren't gonna sleep yet?" he asked as he stood by the bedside with his hands in his pockets, staring down at me.

"I wanna stay with him a little longer!" I said to him with a soft smile before kissing Alex's forehead again.

"He's fine now. The doctor said he just needs more rest so you should leave him to conveniently do that," he said and I stared at Alex again before looking up at Richard.

"But I'm trying to let go, I just can't bring myself to…" my voice faded off in a soft tear as I spoke and Richard bent on his toes to look me in the eyes.
