I was standing by the roadside, waiting for a cab. I got one in sight and waved at it as it stopped right in front of me. I didn't know what happened, but I just couldn't stir forward. It was like I was frozen, and the blood flowing in my veins ceased, making it hard for me to move.
I couldn't move to get into the car and get my ass down to school. I stood there looking numbly as if I saw a ghost walking on the street or comfortably sitting in the corner of the car.
I froze for what seemed like minutes; perhaps it was a few seconds. Someone or something, I think, passed by me, making the cold morning breeze blow my hair to my face as if unfreezing me. I tucked my hair behind my ear to see what or who just ran past me.
I missed the cab I called to the guy who had just run past me.
