"Nice meeting you," she said. I just smiled. Thoughtfully, I just smiled. I don't know if it was nice to meet her. I don't even know her well yet, which automatically doesn't make me know her well yet.
"Can I sit?" She asked with a tray in her hand.
"Sure," I said, smiling broadly at her as she sat. The atmosphere between us was kind of uncomfortable. She wasn't going to break the silence; neither was I ready to.
She cleared her throat, finally trying to make out something. "So, you're a new student?" She asked, finally breaking the mute.
"Yea, I am. I came from Virginia,"
"Oh, that's a small village," she said, smiling.
"Washington is a smaller city than Virginia," I said, sarcasm obvious in my voice with a big grin knowing well it's a lie.
"It's obvious in your voice, you know. It's not true," she said, protesting.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes. Being defeated.
