Shen Lili

Their eyes met and at once, both of them froze.

It took a moment before a name entered Xu Anyi's head and she remembered who the woman was, but she couldn't be sure because they hadn't seen each other for so long.

"Xu Anyi?" The woman asked, her eyes wide in shock.

Xu Anyi knew that it was her now, and she nodded her head slightly as she pulled the tray down, holding it in front of her, "Shen Lili? Long time no see."

The woman's mouth fell open at once, and she almost dropped her phone, but it luckily landed on the table as she broke out of her shock and quickly picked up her phone again.

"I can't believe it's you!" She exclaimed, moving over closer to her, "I thought I wouldn't be able to see you again!"

She quickly realized she had blurted out her internal thoughts, and she cleared her throat as she looked at her awkwardly.

Xu Anyi grinned softly, "It's okay. . . So you heard about it?"

She nodded.

Shen Lili was the daughter of the Shen family, an upper-class family that had business relations with the Xu Corporation, so she had been childhood friends with Xu Anyi.

They went to the same school together all the way until college, and were quite close as kids, but became "enemies" in high school due to some misunderstandings where the guy Shen Lili liked ended up liking Xu Anyi.

So, they broke up and did not talk to each other often since.

Although Shen Lili had a cute appearance, she had a cold and proud personality inside.

As she was also raised in an upper class family and was the youngest daughter of the family with only an older brother, she was raised in an environment with love and respect, so she also didn't want to bend down to Xu Anyi after getting into an argument with her.

But that was all stupid childhood drama now. . .

Xu Anyi smiled mockingly, looking over at Shen Lili, who stood a few inches away from her, "Are you not scared of me then?"

Shen Lili had her usual cold expression as she locked eyes with her, and said bluntly, "I don't believe you did it."

Hearing this, Xu Anyi could not hide the surprise on her face as she felt her hands tremble slightly, and she almost dropped the tray in her arms.

Shen Lili's straightforward and direct personality was something Xu Anyi liked about her, and when they were friends before, it was easy for them to be open and honest with each other.

So, Xu Anyi also responded candidly, "I didn't do it."

Shen Lili looked at her expressionless, and after a few seconds, she nodded, looking away as she took a sip from her glass of red wine, "That's what I thought."

"Why? Why do you believe me?" Xu Anyi asked, her eyebrows knitting together. After all, they weren't exactly on good terms even before she went to jail.

Shen Lili chuckled softly at her question and glanced over at her, "Even if others don't know, I know your relationship with your parents. . . I basically grew up with you."

She had seen how close Xu Anyi was with her parents, and even after they had broken up as friends, her family was still close to the Xu family and she knew how close their family was.

"Plus, I heard that they say you killed your parents to take over the Xu Corporation," Shen Lili scoffed, "You never liked the company, so why would you do that?"

Xu Anyi smiled, rocking over to her right foot slightly as she nodded, "Thank you."

"You don't have to thank me," Shen Lili replied as she took a large gulp from her glass of red wine. There was a moment of silence until she suddenly seemed to remember something and raised an eyebrow.

"So. . . Was it Xia Yiwei?"

Xu Anyi was slightly surprised that she guessed it so quickly, and she nodded.

Shen Lili's eyes narrowed as she slammed a fist onto the table, "I knew it! I never liked her! See, I told you before to stay away from her!"

Xu Anyi chuckled, remembering her words from over ten years ago, "Yes, if only I had listened to your words from when you were 10 or something."

Shen Lili clicked her tongue as she shook her head, finishing the glass of wine in one last gulp, "So how have you been these past few years?"

Xu Anyi smiled mockingly, "How good can I get?"

There was a moment of grave silence.

"What about you?" Xu Anyi looked at her, "What have you been up to these past few years?"

"What can I be up to? You know my family. Luckily, my brother took over the business," she looked over at Xu Anyi, "So I can do whatever I like."

Xu Anyi smiled bitterly.

"I'm a designer now, I like to design some clothes in my studio."

Xu Anyi nodded, tapping a finger against the tray, "That's nice. . ."

They both didn't say anything anymore, and the loud song blasting in the background finished as another song began, a softer one this time.

"We haven't talked like this in so long already," Xu Anyi commented, "Why did we stop talking again?"

It seemed like so long ago since she was in high school that she could not remember very clearly why they had gotten into an argument.

Shen Lili threw her head back slightly as she laughed, "You forgot?! Remember Mu Jie?"

Xu Anyi shook her head. She did not remember many people from when she was in school.

"The boy I liked!" Shen Lili laughed at herself, "But he liked you, so I got mad and jealous. I was so stupid, he was just a young and immature little boy."

She shook her head, and then seemed to remember something, "Oh, but thinking back now, it also had to be Xia Yiwei talking in between us that led to many misunderstandings and our argument in the end."

She narrowed her eyes, "That girl always had something bad in her."

Xu Anyi nodded her head in agreement.

"What are you doing here?!" Suddenly, their conversation was interrupted as Xu Anyi's manager walked over, grabbing onto her arm, "The customers are all waiting! Hurry!"

Xu Anyi looked over at Shen Lili and smiled, quickly waving goodbye to her before she was pulled away.

A while later, after she had finished her work, the table was empty and she could not find Shen Lili anymore.

She had probably left, so Xu Anyi returned home as well.
