Chapter 23

Every time he was tortured, he would bury his head into the pillow, drowning out the sadness and pain deep in his heart. Tom would no longer show her emotions to the werewolf.

Finally, the werewolf noticed Tom's unusual attitude. The days full of torture he gave had made Tom almost unable to survive, every breath Tom took now became a necessity to stay alive and awake. What was different this time was that although Tom was traumatized at first, the expression Tom was showing now was one of peace. The werewolf now felt that the game was getting boring. However, the werewolf realized that he couldn't look directly into Tom's eyes which were filled with emptiness.

Tom's pair of eyes didn't show any emotion at all, fear was no longer visible in them.

To be precise, since Tom was told that Wolfie had died, all of Tom's reactions were beyond the werewolf's expectations.

"Don't you hate yourself? You caused his death, didn't you?" said the werewolf.

Tom just laughed softly at the werewolf's question.

"Are you crazy?" The werewolf looked at Tom in bewilderment.

"I'm not crazy. Ironically, you just told me that in this world there is someone who truly loves me. He's so stupid, whiny and downright reckless... But, he's willing to die for me." When those words were finished, Tom started coughing up blood loudly. The werewolf caught him quickly as Tom's body wobbled.

"Huh..." Tom sighed. He wiped his lips with the back of his hand then turned to look at the werewolf and smiled at him, "I know that I almost died... I promised her... If I will find her... Then... I will stay with her forever. .."

Tears rolled down Tom's cheeks and she fell unconscious in front of the werewolves.

"No... You, you're not allowed to die!! I'm not letting you die!!" The werewolf shouted loudly even though his hands were frantically holding the man.

The maid who was nearby came over in a panic and rushed over to them.

"His health has deteriorated so badly that it caused bleeding in his lungs. Sir, how did he come to be like this?" The maid said after checking Tom's condition.

"...Save him." The werewolf commanded firmly.

"Yes sir." The knowledgeable maid quickly tried to administer medicine to Tom in order to stop her bleeding.

The werewolf waited anxiously next to his servant. He clenched his fists tightly as he saw blood staining Tom's lips.

The maid treated Tom all night. Finally, at dawn, Tom stopped coughing up blood and was now asleep.

"Master," The maid wiped her sweat with her sleeve. "I have to check the wound on his lower body, I need your help sir so I can put medicine there." He continued with a hand carrying a medicine bottle for Tom's wound.

"What are you saying?" asked the werewolf sharply.

The maid was confused by the werewolf's disapproving tone, so she repeated, "I need your help sir to help me open the bottom so I can put medicine on it."

"I won't allow it!" The werewolf said firmly.

"Master? The medicine must be given in order to relieve-" The servant intended to explain to the werewolf but was immediately cut off by the werewolf.

"I don't allow you to touch it!" said the werewolf in a huff.

"..." The maid was taken aback for a moment before she finally passed the medicine bottle she was holding in her hand to the werewolf.

"Then... Please Master give this medicine to the wound itself." said the waiter. The maid then left the room, after all night she felt exhausted from treating Tom, the maid left her werewolf master with a confused look.

Whenever the werewolf tortured Tom, it was always at night, so the werewolf had never really paid attention to him before.

When he stepped to approach the unconscious Tom, the werewolf realized that Tom had lost a lot of weight. The werewolf pulled Tom's blanket then gently lifted Tom's legs.

Even though the werewolf was familiar with the wounds on Tom's body, the sight before him still made him gasp in surprise.

'Why... Why are humans so fragile? The wound I've inflicted must be deadly to a human.' He said in his heart.

"Wolfie" Tom mumbled quietly in her dream.

"!!" The werewolf who heard Tom's soft muttering was unsure of what he was feeling right now. He felt so frustrated that he wanted to wake Tom up and torture her again. But apart from the anger that welled up in his heart, this was the first time he had experienced what it felt like to be heartbroken.

The day passed slowly, but the human never woke up once.

"It's too late. Master, he no longer has the will to live." The waiter said regretfully.

They had done everything they could and now all hope they had was gone.

The werewolf ignored his servant's words. He gripped Tom's hand tightly and took a deep breath.

"Listen, it's about Wolfie, he still has hope." The name of the other man was difficult for the werewolves to pronounce. The werewolf's deep voice echoed throughout the room, "Our agreement will be lost when the King of Salem disappears. If you want to save Wolfie, wake up now! Wake up! Can you hear me?!" shouted the werewolf. The hand that held Tom's hand was now getting tighter with hope.

The cold night wind blew past the grass on the ground surrounding the palace in a gloomy atmosphere as the werewolf stood alone on the tallest tower.

The werewolf was looking at the land in front of him, as he had been doing for thousands of years.

On the other side of the old palace, perhaps because of the werewolf's words earlier about Wolfie, Tom's condition was now recovering slowly and gradually.

Sometimes, Tom would wake up from her dream and fall back asleep quickly again because her body was still very weak.
