Chapter 4

Caspian

My wolf preened. He has not been this excited ever since the day I shifted, at fourteen. "She's coming back to us" he whispers. I admit I'm curious to see what she's grown up to be like. I could never forget the little girl dressed up in yellow, her wild red hair bouncing around while I followed her everywhere like a puppy. My sunshine.

I jump off Tristan's couch as soon as my dad mind links me, alerting me to their arrival, kicking my way through the empty bottles of booze and remnants from the party last night. Tristan and Keiran lay on the floor, Tristan squeezing the life out of a pillow. I kick him after he doesn't wake up after me growling repeatedly and his eyes jerk open with a start. "Jeez Cas, what got up your ass early in the morning" he yawned. "Josh is back. We need to go" I look over to Keiran "He's not waking up, is he?". Keiran slept like the dead. "I wish I could sleep like that" Tristan shouts into Keiran's ears.

We make our way to the pack house with Tristan grumbling all the way about how Cassie drove away all his new "friends". I was barely listening but I scoffed at that. Cassie is the pack queen bee. She wanted to be on top of her game and being with the Alpha and his friends had its own benefits. Not that I was complaining. She sucked real good. The only catch being that she got a little too possessive and competitive with the new chicks, Tristan's new "friends". I didn't mind that though. Competition was good. Kept them in their places. Showed them who the master was. The constant fear of being replaced kept Cassie on check.

Josh and his sisters had their backs turned to us when we parked outside their villa. I wasn't even out of the car yet and I could feel the traces of the familiar caramel scent wash over me. Sunshine.
