Chapter 5

Caspian

She had changed. Nothing of the shadow she was now reminded me of my happy play mate. Sunken eyes, and what was that on her face? A mask? She wore a black hoodie that covered all of her hair. All one could see was the red strand that had strayed out. I could barely recognize her and I could, only because of my strong wolf senses.

She peeked at me, refusing to bow, immediately looking away as if she had seen something unpleasant.

My wolf was not happy. He kept pushing at me to go and talk to her but I just couldn't. She looked ready to flee. And that's when Tristan popped the bubble by asking about the mask and immediately started a banter with Rose, the elder sister. She was always a feisty one. Even when we were young. Took no bull from anybody.

I couldn't help it. There was an uncomfortable rumble in my chest. Disappointment. What was I even expecting? She probably doesn't even remember me. And by the looks of it, if I try to approach her, I would be placing a verbal attack target on my back, Rose looked ready for battle. Gods is she that sensitive?

Josh accompanies me and Tristan to meet rest of the pack boys. He seemed to blend in really well. Five minutes with him, and the boys were already shifting and showing off their skills. This is why I wanted Josh with me. His people skills were amazing. "Unlike someone else" My wolf came up to the surface as I willed him to go back. He was pissed about the encounter.

"It's not like she's anything to us" I say. Nothing that couldn't be fixed after a good tumble with Cassie tonight.
