Tristan
He doesn't say anything but I know something's wrong. I could smell the hostility in the air. We are at the pack training grounds and Caspian has already lost his cool twice. He looks at the new trainees like a damn hunter. One of them shivered and Caspian narrowed his eyes at the poor boy and growled, making him fall on his knees. The new trainees had just shifted a few weeks ago and as pack tradition, had joined the training grounds. Cas doesn't usually lose his shit for no reason but I think I know what's egging him on today.
I look over to Josh who seemed pretty oblivious to what was happening. He doesn't really see the difference since it's his first day back and he looks like he doesn't mind the harsh training. And why would he? He was the future Beta and his wolf was pretty strong too. I wonder what he'd like to say about Caspian getting riled up over his sister. That is not going to be neat.
I remember him following Layla around when we were all but ten. You might think a pre-adolescent boy would have far better work to do and older friends to play with. Especially a werewolf and that too one with Alpha blood. Werewolves grow at an alarming rate until they shift and then they stop aging. Most werewolves were fully grown by the time they were sixteen but Caspian had his first shift at fourteen. Caspian never let her out of his sight. It was weird. It's not every day that you see a ten-year-old kid looking at a baby like she was his moon and stars.
Wherever Caspian went, I went along. I know people call me his sidekick. But I don't care. He's my best friend and he has been there for me when nobody was. When my step mom tried to strip away my rights to my dad's business empire, it was Caspian who stood by me and had my back as I fought the incredibly long and tiring lawsuit.
But here was the problem. I followed Caspian in everything. What he liked, I liked. Where he went, I went. And that is how it started.
Who he loved, I loved.
