Caspian
What a long day. It has been a busy week in the training grounds with all the new recruits. I look around the canteen for Tristan. I swear I'm going to rip him a new one tonight for leaving me alone with all these younglings. I get that he wants no part in this power game, but I need him beside me. Our wolves have this bond that requires them to be near each other. Whenever Tristan goes MIA, my wolf gets agitated and cranky. I don't understand what it is but it feels like there is a strange link binding us together.
I look towards the crowded table and there he is, whispering into her ears. I see red. I have no reason to be so pissed over them having fun but my wolf wants a shift. I feel left out. Like I'm being denied something that I deserve. I force my wolf to lay low and walk towards them. He whispers something into her ears again and she giggles. Giggles! I can't stand it. What is so funny. I glare at her. She doesn't even look at me. It is as if we had never known each other. I try to connect to her with our wolves but get nothing out of it. It's like there is an invisible wall in her mind closing us off.
To say that I am irritated would be an understatement. I was furious. The feeling of something crawling under my skin. She put her arms around his and they walked hand in hand towards his car. What even was happening. Where are they going? I jog around to reach them and put my hands around Tristan's neck. He was startled. It looked as if he was in a dream out of this world. "Hey buddy! What's up? Where are you guys off to?" I looked at her and she raises an eyebrow. Tristan butts in before she could say anything. "I was just going to drop Layla home". He stops at that and looks over to her for confirmation and she nods her head like a puppet, looking anywhere, but my eyes. They look at each other and there is a silent communication between them or it is as if he can read her mind. I can't tell which one it is at this point. It is unspoken but they want me gone. I can feel it in the air.
