Chapter 29 Chrys and Morgan

After a while of chasing each other, Chrys and Morgan stopped their chase. But the reason behind it is that Morgan managed to get on top of the truck that the girls were in, with Chrys watching from underneath.

"Morgan, come down. It's enough playtime. We are leaving. " Chrys calmly said, with a straight face.

"No. Don't believe you. " Morgan said as she stared at him with complete concentration.

"Come on, Morgan. Let's be sensible adults here. Other people are waiting. " With a frown, Chrys said.

"Big words coming from someone who doesn't respect others." Morgan replied in monotone.

"Lies, you know, I respect you and the others." I just want to see your smile. That's all I really want. " Chrys said as he shrugged his shoulders, giving Morgan an innocent smile.

Morgan remained silent at his answer while giving him a blank look.

Lilly tapped Hela's shoulder as she said. "All done."

"Thank you." Hela thanked her, looking very displeased.

"You're welcome." Lilly said with a bright smile on her face.

"Now, how about you, Loki? Do you also need my help? " Lilly asked as she turned her head towards Loki.

Loki shook its head left and right as its body began to release steam and shrink. A couple of ice crystals formed around it during this process.

Well, if you say so. Now, are you girls okay? " Lilly asked the three girls inside the truck.

Amber and Miya checked themselves to see if they had any injuries, but after a while of checking, they nodded.

"All good here, Lady... Lilly!" Rose shouted with an energetic voice.

Lilly made a bit of a forced smile before turning to a certain green-haired man in the distance.

"Do I want to help him or..." Lilly seemed to be debating with herself.

"Lilly, help him. Will you? " Chrys said.

"Hmm, fine." Lilly sighed as she began walking towards V.

As she got close enough, she heard a low snore coming from him. A small sinister smile formed on Lilly's face as she saw the opportunity.

She stopped just beside him, knelt down, grabbed him in the ear and shouted. "Wake up!!!"

"Huh?" V said as his eyes snapped open. "Already morning?" he asked.

"Hmph! Get on the truck and drive. We are done here! " "Lilly she said to him as she started to head back, looking like she was in a bit of a hurry.

V slowly got up, dusted the dirt on his clothes, and began making his way back as well.

His gaze landed on a certain blue-eyed woman, on top of the truck that he was supposed to be driving.

"Oh, now I remember." V said to himself as his mouth formed a frown. He rubbed the back of his head as he got into the driver's seat, looking very angry.

"By the way, Morgan." You arrived here using the Dove, didn't you? " Chrys asked.

"Of course."

"Then, where is it?" Chrys asked.

Morgan merely pointed upwards.

"So, on top of the canyon." Chrys said as he raised his gaze to the sky.

Lilly asked, "Is there a way to drive up to the top?" Chrys asked.

"Yes, there is a way, but it's around the outside." It will take a bit of a long time to get there. Lilly said as she stood beside him.

"Hmm, you know how to drive, right?" How about you and V drive both of the trucks to the top while me and Morgan go ahead on foot? " Chrys made his proposal.

"Of course, I know how to drive. Sister Morgan taught me." Lilly said as she puffed her flat chest.

"Well, here you go." Chrys pulled out the keys from his pocket and offered them to Lilly. But before Lilly could raise her hand, Another hand reached for the keys. It was Rose's.

Rose hung from the side of the truck with her arm extended. She gave a bright smile to Chrys.

"No." Chrys said as he shoved her hand away.

"Why?! I can drive... well! " Rose asked with an awkward silence in the middle of her sentence.

"A bad feeling." Chrys replied as he handed the keys to Lilly.

Rose reluctantly sat back down while making a bunch of low grumbling noises. which caused both of her seatmates, Miya and Amber, to give her a bit of a concerned look.

Hela and Loki headed towards the other truck with Lilly, to ride with her.

Morgan hopped off the top of the truck and stood beside Chrys. V waved his hand out of the window as he followed Lilly's truck out of the canyon.

Now only Chrys and Morgan are left inside.

"Let's go." How about we use this crystal spike as a means of going up? " Chrys asked.

"Sounds good to me." Morgan replied casually.

Both of them began to climb up the crystal spike with great efficiency.

"So... did everything go as planned?" Chrys asked without stopping climbing.

"Unfortunately, it didn't. I lost track of it because... Morgan stopped talking for a moment before continuing.

"They went over Titan's territory." "She said as she hopped up the crystal."

It can't be that easy, huh? But them going over Titan territory is... curious. " Chrys said, as he kicked off a crystal to reach higher.

"Yes, but..." Morgan tried to say something else, but was interrupted by Chrys.

"Yes, you're right in what you're thinking. " He wouldn't let something like this happen. Chrys said something like he already knew what she was thinking.

I'm afraid to say that... I think that this goes higher than 'him'. " Morgan said as she embedded her bow into the side of the crystal and used it like a swinging bar to get higher up.

"Hmm, I think we may have to pay Titan a visit soon." Chrys said as he climbed higher.

Morgan merely remained silent as she climbed higher.

"Is there anything else you want to share with me?" Chrys asked.

Well, I did a bit of information gathering while I was in town, waiting for you guys. It's just an assortment of random bits of information, nothing really relevant to our topic. " Morgan said as she jumped higher, using her bow like some sort of pole arm.

"Well, did you hear about what happened at Viridis then?"

"Yes, I did. rumors of a rouge 5th generation Peacekeeper, singlehandedly taking care of an attempted Beastfolk revolution before disappearing with a certain doctor and his daughter. " Morgan replied.

"So he really did disappear, huh?" Chrys said to himself.

"Is it safe to assume that you were there when it happened?"

"Yes, I was there." I was kind of the reason the little peacekeeper there did what she did.

"Not surprised."

"Morgan, I think 'they' started the uprising." Chrys expressed himself solemnly.

Morgan stopped climbing for a second, and asked. "Are you sure?" Before continuing her climb,

"Yes, they had the same weaponry as the ones we encountered back in the village." Chrys nodded.

Did you also think that for the sudden appearance of a rouge aircraft back on the train?"

"Oh, yeah. I was worried you didn't know my intentions. " Chrys said as he climbed higher.

"I know you too well." Morgan replied as she climbed up.

"So did you find something?" Morgan asked as she raised her hands towards Chrys.

Chrys grabbed her hand, pulled her up, and said "Well, I know that the people who were driving the aircraft were Hunters, and that the direction that the train took was towards Titan."

"It looks like we might also need to pay a visit to the Hunter's headquarters." Morgan said as she casually maneuvered upwards.

"Yeah, it seems so." "Crys," he said, as he jumped higher up the crystal.

"Oh, yeah. Almost forgot. "

"I saw Red Hood and her gang while I was in the air. They left the area long ago, but we should be careful. " Morgan said to Chrys as she jumped.

"Well, they're quite easy to deal with if we compare them to the other groups from Titan."

But, here in the southern quadrant? Are they harvesting the local wildlife?" Chrys asked.

"Yes, how did you know?" Morgan answered.

"You saw the materials inside the trucks, right? We gave the remainders to a bunch of people who were going to auction them to Titan. " Chrys answered.

"So, judging by their actions, Titan is preparing. " Morgan said, in monotone.

"Yes, it seems so." "Crys," he said, as he seemed to think for a moment.

"Oh, it looks like we have arrived at the top." Chrys said, as he looked around the top part of the canyon.

Morgan merely nodded as she and Chrys both got near the edge and jumped from the crystal onto the solid ground.

"Where did you park it?" Chrys asked. Morgan pointed in a direction before both of them headed there with Chrys in front.

Both of them walked in silence for a moment. Chrys had a smile on his face, seemingly enjoying his walk.

"Chrys..." Chrys then turned his head towards her upon hearing his name without slowing his pace.

"We need to talk about... the girl." "Morgan said with a blank expression.

Which one? There are three of them. Chrys said, as he returned his head to facing forwards.

The black-haired one."

"That's still two, Morgan." "Crys," he said without turning his head.

"Chrys..." Morgan called out again as she stopped walking.

"Hmm, you know me so well." Chrys said, as he also stopped.

Both of them stood there in silence for a moment before Morgan spoke again. "Does she-"

"No." Chrys cut her off before she could finish her question.

"Do you have any plans?"

"No." Chrys said as he cut her off again.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." "Crys," he said, with a serious tone, as he cut her off again.

"Then I won't interfere." Morgan said, as she performed a little bow.

Both of them then continued their walk in silence.

"Is there something else bothering you?" Morgan asked as she walked slightly behind Chrys.

"What do you mean?" Chrys asked, as he kept looking forward with a bright and happy smile.

"You're putting on a happy mask." Morgan answered.

Chrys then stopped walking, causing Morgan to stop as well. "You know me too well." Chrys said without turning to face Morgan. He then lowered his head as the smile on his face disappeared.

Morgan just gave his back a blank stare as a reply.

"There was an ambush at the main entrance of the canyon."

Morgan remained silent.

"I killed them all."

Still, Morgan remained silent.

"Then, I went into the city."

Morgan was still silently staring at him.

"Then, they all attacked me without any warning."

Morgan's ears perked up a bit.

"Then, I killed them all."

"I killed every single person in that city."

"Even those who have already given up."

"I think some of them even begged me to spare their lives."

In the end, I still killed them. Like the ones before them... like the thousands before them.

"You know, I think I told you this before."

"That I felt remorse and regret for having taken those lives with my own hands." Chrys said as he looked down at his hands, which were pristine clean.

"But now..."

"I felt... nothing. Absolutely nothing. " Chrys said as he gritted his teeth.

Morgan is still silently watching him. The meter on her bow turned yellow.

"No, maybe. That's a lie I like to tell myself."

"In fact, I did feel something back there."

"It was a delight, or maybe so far as happiness."

"I was happy... that I took another life."

"Because I know for a fact... that adding another one to the pile wouldn't hurt." Chrys' mouth then formed a smirk.

"And it scares me."

"It scares me that... I could even think of something as cruel as that."

"Basically, what I'm trying to say is..."

"I don't even know what to do anymore." Chrys smiled and said.

Teardrops then formed in his eyes as he stared down at the ground. His arms were hanging lifelessly from his side.

Meanwhile, Morgan is just watching with a blank look. She stared down the bow in her hands. Her gaze landed on the dried up blood at the edge of her bow. The meter on her bow then rose and changed color to a yellowish-orange.

Morgan approached Chrys and gave his back an embrace. Her body couldn't fully touch him as a golden aura prevented her, but still, she gave him an embrace.

She held the bow in her hands even tighter as she spoke in monotone. It will be fine. It will end soon.

Chrys grabbed her hand with his, but the golden aura around him prevented him from touching her.

Chrys then opened his mouth and said "Thank you, Morgan."
