The Wolves

As I sit under the tree thinking, I reminisce over some of the past before all this took place...

*flashback*

"Mom!? Mom! Where are you?!" I yell in the woods looking around

I have been walking around for a while and it is getting dark...I hope my mother finds me...

"Mother! Hello!? Someone?!" *sighs*

I walk in what I thought was a straight line for about 5 minutes and nothing appears. How is that possible? A road doesn't just disappear...Right?

As I continue walking I thought I hear a road and start running towards the sound. Sprinting I trip over a tree root sticking out of the ground and fall forward into the dirt directly.

I roll down the side of a hill and hit my head and get scapes as well. As I fall I hit a single tree and black out for a moment.

*thud*

Everything goes black. Did I hit my head? Oh no! Mother is going to be so mad at me when she finds out! Or maybe not...She doesn't have issues punishing me physically sometimes...

I slowly start waking up and it is sundown. I look up and wipe my head with what feels like sweat and get up from my feet. I look at my legs and see my shorts a ripped up and also my shirt a bit torn. Oh no mother is going to kill me!

I get look up and find the hill where I fell off from and attempt to climb up. I start pulling myself up with but I slip and skit across the dirt and back down hitting my back against a rock.

"Ack ow!" *huff huff*

I look behind me and see the rock in the little light the sun has left and notice something. The rock is red...Wait is that...b-blood?

I look at my head where I wiped off the sweat I thought and see red on it. I wipe the back of my head and see see my hand redder. It is my blood! Oh god oh god...But wait my head only hurts a little bit...Thats...That's fine then! Haha...ha...

I look back up the hill and attempt another climb up it when I hear noises from above me. I look at but see no one. Is someone there? I hope so I am so hungry...

I climb myself back to the top of the hill and look around but only see tree and bushes around me. All around me...I must've imagined it...

*growl*

"Oh man...I am so hungry..." I say to myself...I lift up what is left of my shirt and look at my tummy and rub it gently. I also notice some scratches...

Dang it! I am so much trouble...Mother doesn't like it when I get hurt. Because it mean I have to go to the doctors to check me up for potential infections.

I start walking in a random direction and try to keep my direction straight as much as possible so not to walk in a circle.

*Flashback ends*

*sighs*

I rub the back of my head a bit and check to see if it is bleeding still. It isn't luckily...I pick myself up from the tree I was sitting under and begin walking again.

*growl*

*sighs* "I know tummy I know, you are hungry for the 100th time..."

I start walking with my head down walking past tree and shrubs leaving minor scrapes on me everytime I walk past them. Hurts a lot now. Been walking through the forest for a while now and I don't hear anything other than wild bird calls...

I ams starting to cry again...I wipe away the tears knowing my mom would look down at me for crying like a wimp. She told me once that she cried for days when she found out father was dating another woman. She then told me she would never cry again saying that it was for weak folk and she will never become weak again.

I need to calm myself c'mon Codaka! Stop crying man up!

*sniffle* *sighs*

Okay I am calm just calm. Just keep walking and you will find your way out. There is always hope for me. Hope for a better outcome! Come on! Keep walking!

I continue walking in a direction at random and keep walking until my feet start giving out. God my feet are hurting now...I was not meant to walk for this long in the woods for this long...

*sniffle* I am starting to cry again but I ran out of tears hours ago. Sad really. Irony...

*Growl*

"

Ugh I know already! I am hungry! Wait that wasn't my tummy..."

I turn around and look around me and see no one. I swear I heard a growl and it wasn't my stomach. I must've be crazy now right! I am not dehydrated yet right!

I start walking backward and trip over a branch or something and rub my butt.

I look up and I think I see something...it looks like...eyes? Oh no...no no no no no!

I get myself on my feet fast and see two yellow eyes glowing in the dark. But they are covered in shrubs. I try and use my nightvision but it is still young and difficult for me to see.

I start backing up again with me looking behind me occasionally and notice more eyes appearing! Oh no don't tell it is wolves! I-I don't want to die to them!

I turn to notice I am surrounded by wolves. Oh god! I look around and notice a single tree and I run towards it before getting cut off by a wolf. I am already running and I can't stop! I jump and the wolf lunges at me and I jump on the wolf onto the tree. I grab onto the tree and begin climbing up before and pair of teeth bites onto my shoe!

Oh god let go of me! I start shaking my left in order to get the wolf off of me but it relents and continues to bite down on my shoe! It's teeth start to penetrate my shoe. I risk it and shake my foot off even more and my shoe comes off.

I take the moment and begin climbing up the tree and get on a branch and grab a hold of it. and hold on tightly beginning to pant like a dog.

*huff huff huff* These animals!

I look around and there are 4 wolves around the tree now snarling at me and jumping at me from the ground level. I hope they can't climb at all! God I hope not.

As I take a moment to breathe I hear scratching and look down at the base of the tree and see one of the bigger one begin making its way up! What the hell! Oh no it is getting closer!

I look around me and see another tree close by and I think I could make a jump for it. I reach out for it and I feel a small bite at the end of my tail.

"Agh!" I scream out.

I look down and see the wolf biting down on my tail and beginning to tug at my tail! I pull back and kick the wolf with my other leg and then it falls off the tree onto the dirt.

It falls to the ground and gets back up and begins making its way back up the tree behind me and begin worrying it is going to return and get me. I look at my tail and there are bite wounds on my tail. God this hurts so badly!

I look at the end of it my tail is twitching on its own and bleeding out the end of it. It hurts!

I drag myself over to the base of the tree and look at my tail and use my night vision on it. It isn't to bad just a minor bite on me but still it hurts!

I start looking a way out of this and notice the wolf on the tree behind me is getting closer and closer. Gaining up on me. I have to get away. I look around but there are no tree within jumping distance of me. I have to make a run for it!

I look around for a nearby tree and see another one I could run to. It is just 12 feet I can make it! Oh who am I kidding no way I can make it there are wolves at my ground level.

But I am desperate! I wait for the wolf to get within biting reach and then prepare to jump at my mark and make a run for another tree!

It gets closer and I wait for it just a bit longer and catch my breath.

*Growls* *snarls*

It is about to pounce time to jump!

I jump off the tree branch as it is about to bite me and land on the ground away from the 3 other wolves and make a break for it. When suddenly. I see a light. A light!

It could be a road! It looks like headlights! This could be my only chance to get out of this place and near people! It's now or never! I change my direction and move up the hill where there are large shrubs and bushes scratching me.

"Uhm, ma'am...please don't stare at me for long...mother says it's rude..."

"Oh sorry kiddo, I just...you look so small and malnourished...I rarely ever see a kid in your condition ever...
