Chapter 15.

Without wasting time, the beta pulled me up from the ground. He asked me to follow him and I hobbled behind him wherever he was going. Soon we arrived back at the mansion but he led me down to a place that looked like a washroom.

"What are we doing here?" I asked curiously.

"To clean up... you can't approach the alpha like this." I look at myself and I'm no different from the trash.

"That water over there.." he pointed and I followed his direction to see a vessel filled with water to the brim. "And there are some soaps here. Take a quick shower and meet me outside." He said softly.

"Thanks a lot," I muttered. He nodded and left.

As I started taking my bath, my entire body was burned as it came in contact with the water, the pain was so excruciating and all through the bath, my mind kept hitting on what would have happened to me back at that cabin if that stupid guard didn't stop lashing me. I could have been dead by now for sure but here I am alive and it's all thanks to him... the beta.

I used to think that beta is always the reciprocal of their Alphas but Wallace and Lowell are the sore opposite of each other. I so hate Lowell and I just wish I had some superpower to devour him and tear him apart the moment  I saw him.

Soon I was done taking my bath. I wore the clothes I had worn back on. Then I walked out. I saw the beta waiting for me as promised.

"Um, I'm done..."

"Let's go..." he commanded and started walking off while I walked beside him.

"Wallace??" I called his attention before I could stop myself.

We had already gotten close to the living room. He stopped and turned to face me, catching me unaware. Unaware because my voice was so low that I believed he didn't hear me. Not knowing what to do or say, I just stared at him speechless.

"Huh?" He raises an eyebrow and I intensely withdraw my gaze away from him. Gosh why did I call him, what was I even going to say... as the thought lingered in my head, I found myself saying. "Thank you."

He didn't say a word at first. "For what?"

"For what you did back there at the cabin you know. You saved my life. Thank you so much I owe you."

"Oh that. Well, it was the Alpha's call. I just happened to walk into the scenario"

"But still you saved my life somehow. Thank you so much." My voice croaked and I felt warm liquid running down my cheeks.

"Wipe those off." He commanded and I knew he was referring to my tears. "W...why? Isn't a slave allowed to cry?" I humped hard, a bit upset.

He frowned at me and then chuckled which seemed like a small laugh. " Seriously? Don't get too uptight. That's not what I mean... I mean everyone has the right to cry but for a pretty face like yours, crying just doesn't suit you." He smiled

I couldn't help the smile that crept into my lips as I dwelled on his soothing words. No one has ever called me pretty and hearing someone call me that, drenched all the pains I'm feeling and soothes me.

"You are such a nice person," I remarked.

"Don't be too quick to judge." He chuckled. "Now let's go, the Alpha is waiting"

Just when I was beginning to feel calm, he decided to set my soul on fire again. My heart was in my hand as we headed off to meet the Alpha.
