Darkness it was all dark, he couldn't see a thing. All he could hear was the rattling of cages, and soft grumbling. Then everything came to a halt. He could hear them speaking to each other in a language he didn't understand.
They then stopped, and he could hear them walk closer to him as two hands grab him by the arms pulling him off the floor. There were a couple of muffled yelps, and grunts behind him. After he was forcefully thrown around like a rag doll he felt the metal chains that was tightly gripping his hands fling off. As he took off his blindfold he was left in confusion. Nobody was around just a massive city full of endless towering buildings, and a cloud of smoke leaving him behind.
It was such a strange way to wake up, he can't remember much, but his name though everything else is fuzzy.
He began walking forwards in hope of finding answers for both what the hell just happened, and where the hell is he. Mark searched through building, after building, but there was no sign of life. Not even a mouse, or a bird could be found. As he walked through the endless city blocks, and streets he came across something peculiar. It was a long hallway slapped in the middle of a skyscraper it seemed to go deep which didn't make any logical sense as it would have gone through multiple buildings, but if he looked around it, the tower was separate from the tower next to it.
He curiously walked into the hallway it had a yellow wallpaper with orange stripes running across it. All he could hear was the eerie ambience of buzzing lights, and the whooshing fans within the ventilations.
It was strange even though he was completely alone, but he still felt like there were eyeballs shooting a hole into the back of his skull.
When he finally got to the end of the corridor he turned to see another long hallway leading to absolutely nothing. He sighed before continuing down the new extremely lengthy hallways.
He came across a few useful objects that were just laying on the floor, like a crowbar, a small bag full of cans, and a half empty water bottle. Mark would empty the bag full of cans, and put the crowbar, and bottle inside. He made sure to keep a eye out for anything else useful especially food, and water.
When Mark got halfway through the hallway he noticed a wooden door on the left side, when he tried to turn the nob it wouldn't budge as it was locked. Lucky for him he found a crowbar just awhile ago. He'd jam the crowbar in the side of the door ripping apart the side of the door before it finally unlocked. When he opened the door it revealed a empty janitors closet, it had a few boxes, crates, and empty spray bottles laying upon shelfs. It was barely being lit up by a dim light just above him.
"Wow this whole hallway was a waste of my time." Just as he was about to turn back around he felt his foot nudge a string with his foot.
After a few clicking sounds a small version of a log trap tapped his nose it was made of string, and a cork from a whine bottle, right after a box popped up revealing a…. phone?
Just before Mark thought the weirdness has ended the phone grew tiny legs, and arms. It jumped at him holding a toothpick.
"B- begone intruder I- I have a weapon, and I'm not afraid to use it!" It spoke unconfidently, and jittery it didn't sound like it was gunna hurt him it just sounded like it was getting ready to piss itself, if that was even possible. Mark was surprised, one the phone grew arms, and legs, two it's now talking to him.
"Hey now I'm not here to hurt you" Mark replied quickly though not like the toothpick was very threatening. His words seemed to calm the talking phone. "If you're not here to hurt me…. Then you must be here to take my things! I won't let you."
"No I wasn't here to take your stuff…. Well... sort of, but I won't take your stuff now" his words once again calmed the phone down as it seemed to trust him a little to easily, though after all he can't take anything even if he wanted to, the closet is empty.
"Wow wait you're a human." The phone was now hanging onto a shelf beside him, wow that thing is fast even with those small stubby legs. "I haven't seen a human in years, what are you doing so far from the settlement?"
"Settlement?" Mark was confused "What settlement?"
The phones small screen had a confused face on it just like Marks "what? Did you hit your head, and forget everything. The human settlement north of the super pizza Galaxy restaurant."
"Super pizza Galaxy restaurant? Where's that?" the phone made a expression as if it was incredibly offended. "The largest pizza restaurant within the 3rd sector of the city! Pizza! Arcade games! CHAAAARGER POOOOORTS!!!"
Wow the phone is really getting worked up over this. It sounded like a child. "I really don't know what that is." Mark replied.
The phone was even more offended, and bewildered by his reply. "Then I must show you, it's not too far we just have to cross the ruined bridge, which goes over the endless void, and abyss of this hellhole of a world!....but we don't have to worry about that, the bridge is perfectly sturdy."
Mark wasn't too sure about that, but how would he know the phone sounds like he knows what he is talking about.
Mark picked up the little phone placing it into the left pocket in his shirt. Mark slowly made his way back out from the long corridors he had been walking through. By the time Mark got out it was already night time. The moonlight hit the windows of the colossal skyscraper in such a way it made it glisten like sapphires, and diamonds. The stars in the night gave the dark sky color with shades of blue, violet, and pink. It was like staring at a explosion of glitter.
The soft breeze whistled as it blew through the building, it was oddly peaceful. Though sadly just like how winter ruins the beautiful colors of flowers in spring. His peace was rudely interrupted by rippling loud banging sounds, the roaring of engines, and the smell of gasoline.
The weird sentient talking phone began to panic, screaming at him, but he was left in a daze like a deer in front of headlights as a fast object hits him in the stomach throwing him off his feet.
