"I would like a couple of minutes to myself, please." I groaned as I slumped my face back over my pillows.
"Aries, It's not healthy to over sleep." Mom said as I felt her sit beside me. She ran her fingers through my hair as she tucked the blanket over my back.
She paused and patted my head lightly before she shifted her position. I could feel her worried heart as she looked across my room.
A faint smile graced my mother's lips as I peeked through my pillows.
"Are you worried about him?", she asked vaguely.
I turned around and heaved a heavy sigh. My thoughts drifted back to Blake and my inner conflict with my emotions.
I would be lying if I said I don't have any feelings for him anymore but what really bugged me was I was harboring such emotions after our bond was severed.
I guess I could ask mom but again it would be some residual attraction from being mates or something.
I look at my mom and saw her delicate features. Her fair skin matched perfectly with her smooth black hair. I smiled. I would like to marry someone with those lovely qualities.
A light blush ran through my mother's cheek as she smiled.
"It doesn't mean I can't see that you can look at me like that, Aries.", She joked.
"Ew, mom. Really?", I cracked a smile as she turned and cupped my jaw.
"I was just joking. See, I made you smile." She said sweetly as she caressed my face. "And you need to shave." She lightly patted my stubble before standing up.
I ran my fingers over my jaw line and felt the prickly hairs over my skin. Yep, I do need to shave. I glanced up again and watched my mother look at me from the door.
"Always follow your heart." She started as I cocked an eyebrow. "It's always worth it to listen to what it has to say." She gave a light nod before closing the door.
I slumped back at my bed and looked at the ceiling. And my thoughts drifted back to my mother's words and the image of Blake. Am I truly in love with him?
I closed my eyes once more before I heard the door creaked open.
"Your mom told me to check on you if your out of bed already." Zephyr said as he leaned on the door frame while his arms are crossed over his chest.
I looked at him at the corner of my eye and raised my arm with my index finger pointing outwards.
"One minute." I retorted. He just shook his head.
"Alpha." Zephyr grinned and I puffed my cheeks. "I'm telling."
I gave up and lazily sat on my bed as I ruffled my messy hair. I looked at Zephyr and he smiled at me.
"I'm up." I yawned while stretching my arms before turning my body towards the edge of the bed.
"You're still looking up on him, aren't you?" Zephyr shot as I glared at him and looked at his serious face. "He's not your mate anymore, Aries. This is not like you."
I averted my eyes to his as his words hits a bull-eye into my heart. I gripped the sheets under me as I clenched my teeth.
"I know you sneak out everyday just to see him in no man's land just across their territory." Zephyr continued as he glanced over the waving curtains from my window. "In fact, the whole pack knew your daily escapades and it worries us."
I felt my heart sink. I was neglecting my pack and as Alpha I was doing a darn job at it. I looked up at Zephyr and he was still looking at the window.
"I'm sorry." I apologized.
"Don't be." He retorted back as he looked at me with his face eased off from the severity of the topic. "Just make sure that he doesn't break your heart again."
I smiled at the caring words of my Beta. I'm sure he knew what I was going through right now. I won't keep anything away from him or my pack for we are a family.
I stood up and approached Zephyr and pulled into a hug.
"Thanks man."
"Don't sweat it. And if he ever becomes a jerk as he is already. I won't think for a second and punch him to the ends of the earth." Zephyr replied as I gave a light punch at his shoulder.
I felt loved with all the people in my pack. They have my back and I got theirs.
After a quick shower and change of clothes, Zephyr and I, strolled down to our daily tasks of monitoring the outskirts of our territory. Though, most of my pack's warriors and scouts are capable enough to do the task. I seem to like to do the protecting and monitoring myself.
When we came to a low mound across the river, I paused and glanced over the direction of Blake's territory. Zephyr crouched down beside me and looked at the same direction.
"Do you think he will..." I paused as he stopped and look at me. "You know. Like me."
Zephyr just sneered. "What's not to like. Compare to him, your a million times better and not in a gay way."
I rolled my eyes at his reply and started to strip my clothes off.
"Just one question though. What's make you sure that he will like you? Last I checked he wasn't very happy about having a male mate."
I shrugged. "I don't. But I know he likes my wolf."
Zephyr just snorted a reply as I quickly shifted to my wolf. I tower almost a meter above Zephyr as I picked up my clothes with my mouth.
"Go get them, tiger." Zephyr joked as I playfully shook my head before heading off to Blake's territory.
I sprint across the alpine woods like the wind. I felt the ground touch my paws with every step I made. I was agile for a wolf my size and it was a nice benefit of being an Aerian.
It no time I was at the clearing and glanced around the clear field. The grass was verdant as usual. I took a whiff into the air and his scent was nowhere near. So I laid my clothes over a tree and laid down on the cool grass.
My thoughts brought me back to Blake and my feelings for him that somehow grew after we severed our bonds as mates. Was the bond just clouding my true feelings towards him and that I always been attracted to him in the first place.
As usual he has the very outstanding quality of being a jerk and an asshole. Liking someone like that means my head and heart has gone coo-coo. But, he also has a loving side like he showed me last time I was here. He maybe rough on the outside but he's a softy marshmallow in the inside. All warm and cozy.
Maybe being an Alpha prevented him from being open about his feelings and the pressure of being the son of the strongest pack isn't helping.
I guess Blake has some qualities I can like and I find him being grumpy kind of cute. The face he made when he's angry and he can't seem to...
I stopped as I heard a couple of footsteps dashing towards my direction and it isn't Blake's scent.
I quickly shifted back to my human form as I grabbed my clothes from the tree and quickly got dressed. I immediately climbed the tree and perched myself amongst the leaves to see who where approaching.
Not soon afterwards a group of individuals dashed from the field and into the Fang's territory. No doubt they were wolves and by the looks of it they are from the nearby pack. I continued to observe the newcomers as they pass by the field and into the forest.
As soon as I was certain that no one was left, I decided to leave, thinking that Blake might not be still feeling well since yesterday but I faint chatter caught my ears from the last wolves.
"So Lance's kid going to be mated." The ruff voice said.
"Yeah and the Alpha wanted the world to know." The other one retorted.
My eyes shifted from its normal green to mossy almost black color. And out of impulse I quickly followed them from behind and abruptly cut them off from the rest of their pack by dropping in front of them.
The two were surprised from not even noticing me pass by them. I saw them step forward after gaining some of their senses back but I was not in the mood in being civilized right now.
In a blink of an eyes, my right hand was wrapped around the farthest amongst the two. Pinning him against the tree as he struggled from being choked.
The other was about to attack but I glared at his direction and his entire body tensed at the sight of my eyes.
"Who-who the hell a-are you?" The frightened man asked as he can't seem to move a muscle. "I-if your Lance's, yo-you..." I practically heard him yelp as I growled between gritted teeth. My fingernails slowly sinking through the other guy's skin as I felt the wrath building inside me.
"Speak!" I barked. "Is Blake being mated?"
The man seemed stunned from fear as he stood motionless in front of me. I choked his companion as he coughed out blood which somehow broke his daze.
"Speak or I'll do something far worst to you!" I threatened as his lips immediately quivered. "Is Blake being mated to someone else?"
"Ye-es." The man stuttered.
I growled as I threw the guy I was choking towards his companion knocking them both unconscious from the force.
I glared towards the direction of Lance's mansion and started to run towards it. Shifting in mid-run, ripping my clothes off , as I paced faster towards the Fang pack house.
I continued to knock off any obstacle in front of me as a furry of dark clouds started to form above. The sound of deafening thunder soon echoed through the forest as my feet seem to respond to every boom.
When I emerged from the forest a couple of warrior wolves surrounded me. Snarling at me as to threaten me by their feral appearance and sheer number. I was not having this and it was wasting my time.
I'm going to have a word with Lance and this time I will kill him. The head of the group snapped his teeth at me as to threaten me but I moved forward, ignoring their growls and snaps. With a howl, the whole group attacked me.
