If I had one word I could say to describe Blake's memories was, it would be like an unsolvable jigsaw puzzle, plain and simple. They were scrambled pieces of a shattered plate that wouldn't piece in together.
A ton of things ran through my mind. Was there a powerful telepath that erase most of his memories. That's mostly the most logical conclusion I could came up. Or he could have been drugged. Magic is another thing. Though I could be skeptical.
We live in a strange world. Anything could be possible. And frankly, I'm quite stressed. Though Blake seems... What's the word. Ah, yes!
Being Blake.
Though he had a fraction of a memory of me. He admitted that came mostly in foggy and sometimes pain sticking migraines. He wasn't in accident that I could remember.
And to be frank, it would take a butt ton of calamities before it could crack Blake.
My heart clenched painfully when I scanned his mind. Not only did I broke my promise on not intentionally enter people's minds, I also see the longing and pain Blake has gone through trying to remember me.
I think I give him less credit than he's due.
I felt him grasp my hand for a minute then it disappeared as soon as it came.
I look at him looking stoically and menacing at the Prince while he explained his reasons towards Quezon and Rex the human.
His eyes were a different issue because they shone with mischief as he gave me a slide glance. I could even trace a slight smirk on his scowl.
He sure is different now.
A little bolder at stealing loving gestures but still hate that PDA thing even with people we clearly know.
It's a good different.
Zephyr leaned in to glare at Blake. Blocking Blake's and my view at each other. I could hear Blake growl menacingly though I know he wouldn't attack Zephyr when I'm near.
Though, on second thought, scratch that, he would definitely kill my Beta whether I'm in front of him or not.
I clasped Zephyr's shoulder and he glanced towards me while I lean forward to look at Blake and he gave me a hard look.
I narrowed my eyes at him and patted Zephyr's shoulder three times making my Beta look at me questioning.
Blake snorts and look back at Lucian with a bored look while crossing his arms.
"What's going on, Aries?" Zephyr whispered though I know Blake could clearly hear him. "I can't help but notice that you're doing goo-goo eyes with Blake."
"Ah-really." I mused in a hush tone. "... I'm not doing anything." I can't help make a mental stifle of laughter on my mind while keeping a poker face.
Zephyr eyed me carefully as I tried to play it cool. The Prince and Quezon were talking something important but I think it doesn't concern much on most of my pack. Something about Lucian stepping down for Rex if needed when the time comes or something within those boundaries.
"I'm watching." Zephyr states as he tucked his hands inside his pocket as he left my side towards Blake's Beta. I heard Blake gave a unamused snort.
I gave a sigh of relief.
Sometimes I can't help but picture Blake and Zephyr as childish grown men when they come close of each other. Though, I kind of know why Zephyr is so cold towards Blake and that made me grin. Well, from most obvious reasons that is.
Blake shot another set of profanities towards the Prince as he was just mentioned in one of Lucian's sentences. The way those two act made me ponder at the odd bond they have as friends.
My thoughts return back to the matter at hand, Blake's memories. Who would even want Blake to forget me? Because that's odd because the only pieces missing were anything that involves me.
I felt a finger brush against mine breaking my thoughts. The contact was brief but the sensation it gave me were dare I say it, electrifying. Another jolt courses on my skin and I noticed Blake oddly close to me. His left hand swaying in a lazy manner.
This is something quite odd. Normally, for rejected mates, you lose all forms of signs of being mate's after the rejection but it's another case with us. I could see Blake's eyes dilate and return to normal every time his fingers brush on my skin.
I'll just have to check on it later.
"Alpha Aries'." Lucian spoke making me focus on the group of people in front of me. Lucian was staring down at me with Rex and Quezon on his side.
"Yes, Prince Lucian." I replied. Rex gave me a nervous smile as if he's apologetic of what's going to happen next.
"I didn't..." He trails off to look at Rex as Rex smiled weakly with a nod. "I didn't officially thanked you..." He continued as he looked down at me with stern eyes. "...you know for helping and keeping Rex safe while he's in your care. So, there." He groaned with a shrug as he looked away with the last of his words.
"There's no need for that, Prince Lucian." I smiled back. "I'm glad Rex was fine after all." Rex smiled at me as I felt Blake flicked his tongue. Lucian gave him a warning glare that went off on Blake's uninterested glares.
"You're alright, Alpha Aries." Lucian smirked. "Blake's one lucky bastard to have you as a mate." I felt the air tense as Rex looked at me surprised along with Quezon who was looking between Blake and me.
"Fuck off, Lucian." Blake clicked his tongue rudely. "Don't butt in on my business like I don't give a fuck on your hots for this human."
I instantly chocked on Blake's choice of words as Rex immediately turned beet red and turned around to hide his face. Quezon brought guided Rex' head over his shoulder as he enveloped him in his embrace. While Lucian was glaring daggers at Blake with cheeks burning bright red. I assume from anger perhaps along with other emotions mixed in.
"I don't like your tone." Lucian gritted as he balled his fist. "I don't have the hots for Rex!" He growled but instantly tensed though it was out once he stood straight with a scowl in his face. He gave one death glare at Blake's direction before storming out towards the thick bushes.
I sighed heavily and looked at Blake.
"What?!" He asked quite annoyed at my stares. I cocked my head towards Lucian's direction as he rolled his eyes.
"You're not going to look for him?" I state.
"I'm not his damn babysitter. So, why the fuck should I care?" Blake retorted with a bored look as he stood up and started to walk away from me. "And, fucking don't start ordering me around. Tsk!" He glares at me as he tucked his hands in his pants and walked away mumbling profanities.
When he went to the direction that Lucian went I gave a sigh of relief. It was then that I felt Rex look at me with a shy smile at which I returned one in reply.
"I didn't know you had a mate?" Quezon asked as he and Rex approached me. "And an Alpha at that." He exclaimed shaking his head apologetically at me.
"Wait. You're both Alphas?!" Rex croaked looking quite surprised at me.
"Yes." I said plainly as I looked at both of them before glancing at the night sky. "As if some twist of fate, Blake and I seemed to be a fitting pair in the Goddess' eyes."
"Why? Is it an odd coupling?" Rex looked at Quezon. "I mean, same sex pairs, in the mythical world?"
"It's not odd per se, son. But quite rare." Quezon replied. "Especially, if said pairing are two Alpha males."
Rex looked at me, eyes full of questions. I sighed as he started to asked away.
"But why don't you two act like mate's or at least what couples do? Or don't I get how werewolves should act around his mate?"
"I hope this doesn't concern about a certain werewolf, Rex?" Quezon eyed the human as Rex just shrugged.
"I don't know. Maybe." Rex replied as Quezon slapped his right hand over his face and drags it down. "I've been through stuff okay. And dad, you're a werewolf! You should be talking about the bird and the bees by now."
"Rex. I think we should discuss that with your mother. You're not only dealing with just werewolves here." Quezon states clasping his son's shoulder. "I'm sorry Alpha, I mean Aries."
"Don't fret on it." I replied with a smile. Rex sure is an odd human I sure would say. He gives out this commanding and regal aura that I can't put my finger into. "I'm glad Rex is the one to go ballistic knowing about wolves and such."
"Well if you lived long enough with two odd parents then I guess it kind of grow on you." Rex shrugged as he slaps the back of his left hand over his father's chest. "I should have known you two were not normal. Well, you're not normal from the start anyways." He chuckled.
"Well, a discussion when we meet your mother." Quezon chuckled back as we see Lucian stomps begrudgery towards our direction with Blake at his side with an equal flustered state as the Prince as they bicker non-stop. I guess they had their talk.
They stopped a couple of feet away from us. Lucian looked at Rex with an unreadable expression painted on his face before looking at Quezon then back at Rex.
"Are you done?" Lucian trailed as he narrowed his eyes. "We can leave right now. My plane's ready when..."
"Thanks Lucian." Rex replied, cutting the Prince's words before he could complete them and Lucian's eyes twitched for a second before fading back into their blank stares. "But I have to decline..."
"Was it because of that bat?!" Lucian growled. Rex looked surprised for a second before glaring back at him.
"You can't blame everything that had happened on all Vladimir now Lucian!" Rex shoved the Prince back with ease as he puts his right foot forward. "I had had it would your, your... arrogance!"
"So, I guess you finally fucking fall for the freaking vampire like some damn bitch!" Lucian growls and Rex narrowed his eyes into slits.
"Don't you dare go that way, Lucian! I don't get where all this is coming from. One second you're a adorable puppy and now you're a rabid dog." Rex shot back not caring how Lucian was now fuming mad. Quezon was frozen still at the deadly aura he was giving off. I stood there quite amused on how a mere human can face a werewolf of such stature like Lucian.
"I'm no fucking dog!" Lucian snarled back. "I could rip your head from your body if I wanted to!"
"Then what's stopping you?!" Rex shot back and Lucian raised his half clawed hands at Rex with a bloodlust so strong I'm sure Rex would be dead the second we blink. But the moment we anticipated didn't come and Lucian gave a wrath filled growl and slammed his hand to the ground and walked away. "I thought so." Rex states.
"Fucking thank your stars I fucking like you so much!" He grunts so low that I'm sure we wolves could only here. Quezon was grinning from ear to ear as Rex crossed his arms. "Fine! What the hell do you want?!" Lucian growled loudly. "But know this that I'm not going to sit idly and watch that bloodsucking mosquito touch you."
Rex rolled his eyes but didn't replied as he looked at Quezon and started to discuss about picking up his stuff and get things over with. He gave me an apologetic smile and I gave a curt smile in return.
Blake was eyeing me almost all the time he and Lucian came out of the woods. I guess he wanted to talk to me about something. I gave him an apologetic smile as well and he averted his eyes from me. I raised a questioning brow but noticed that Zephyr was glaring at him. Frank approached Blake at the same time Zephyr stood by my side.
"Had a nice time with your mate?" Zephyr spoke as he eyed me. I look back at him with a knowing smirk that he returned back with a raised brow. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing." I shrugged as Zephyr looks at the direction of Blake. He narrows his eyes into slits and groaned.
"When?" He states.
"Just tonight actually. You're not hard to read, Zephyr." I chuckled as he ran his right hand along his hair, combing them backwards.
"Touché." Zephyr crossed his arms as he looks around before looking back at me expectantly. "Do I need to spill the beans?"
"Not really." I shook my head. "It's your life. I respect your privacy. I'm just glad that you found your happiness?"
Zephyr looked at me with surprise before his eyes softened to joy. He looks back, eyes away from me with a tint of a smile gracing his lips.
"I did." Zephyr replied. "I hope yours wasn't that complicated but I'd be lying." He smirked as I elbow his side.
"Jerk." I smirk back as he fake hurt at my nudge.
A few minutes have come and Prince Lucian decided that he would come to our land to check on Rex' packing. And watch if no one would come and attack him again. It seems Quezon agreed with Rex in tow as well.
I agreed nonetheless as it would be logical for them to come and provide more safety. After all there's a cult that seems to be after Rex. A pure blood lycan would be a threat in a way.
The four of them were heading to the direction of our jeep when Blake decided to come close to me again. The presence that he gives off sure made him easy to notice. Like someone with a dark intentions.
"Aries." He finally spoke, voice dipped in his husky Alpha tone. I don't know but he seems to debate whether to call me by my name or my title out for formality. "I want you to know that..."
"For fucks sake!!! Just kiss already!" I heard Lucian yell from the Jeep as he was peeking out the window. I felt Blake let out a scorching wave of heat around him. His face deep red.
"Stop bitching on my face, Lucian!!!" Blake growled back. "Fucking get the hell out of here already, Jerk!!!" He clasped his hands together as Zephyr started the car. I saw Rex scolding Lucian from the Jeep. Quezon on the front seat with Zephyr was silent and trying not to react towards the Prince and Blake's banters.
"I'll be going back to the pack house, Blake." I heard Frank speak as Blake glared at him. "Dad's back from the business trip and I have to pick him up at the airport." He states as Blake just rolled his eyes.
"Yeah. Yeah." He scoffs. "Go fetch your old man already." He made go already gesture with his hands.
"What should I tell Alpha when he asks of you?" He raised a brow.
"Just tell him I went clubbing or something with Lucian." Blake gave a bored replied as he stood straight. "You can also tell my mom that as well. Though I know I'll be receiving texts and phone calls anyways."
"What if Jessica asks?" Frank hesitated for a moment. Blake instantly scowls and a low growl erupted from his chest.
"I don't care. Tell her anything." Blake scoffs. "Just leave already!"
Blake glared at Frank as he seems to try not to go berserk. Frank's eyes softened in concerned and nodded.
"Nice meeting you again, Alpha Aries." Frank smiled at me before running off after hearing Blake growl once again.
"It's a pleasure, Frank." I shout back as he waved back before disappearing from the curve on the path. I smiled at Blake's Beta, quite contrast to how I pictured Fire Wolves would be.
"Tsk. Aren't you friendly." I heard Blake groan, his voice thick with sarcasm.
"Really? What ticked you off." I roll my eyes with a chuckle. "Blake, Frank's your Beta."
"So." He states. "That doesn't mean I could be hunky dory every time you greet someone."
"Ah. I see." I smiled. "You're jealous."
"Fuck, no." He retorted. "Me jealous of Frank. Pfft! You wish."
"So I could be friendly to anyone I guess." I mused and Blake grabbed my left wrist brashly and pulled me towards his chest. I had to place my right hand over his chest to stop the sudden impact.
"Say that again?!" He threatens and I smirked.
"So, you are jealous." I state and he glares at me.
"I'm not jealous." He states through gritted teeth. His eyes boring a hole through my skull.
"Alright. Alright. You're not a jealous wolf." I smirked as I wrapped my free hand around his waist. "We should be heading back now. That is if you want."
Blake eyed me for a moment before grunting. He looked away from me as I followed his eyes before he returned his gaze back at me. His hold on me softening while his other hand was now wrapped around my neck.
"Do we have to go now." He whispers making me smile at him as I watch his cheeks turn red. His crimson red eyes sharply staring at me or pass me. Constantly averting eye contact everytime mine would meet with his.
"This so cliché." I mused as I leaned over and rest my face over his muscular shoulder. I felt him tense slightly as I wrapped both my arms around his waist. He smells good for some reason.
"What are you doing?" I heard Blake ask his voice full of amusement. Though I couldn't see his face, I can imagine him smirking at me.
"Nothing." I replied, pressing my face at the crook of his neck. I heard him chuckle. "It's nothing."
"This doesn't feel like nothing to me." Blake spoke as he pressed his other hand at the back of my head. Stroking my hair as he chuckled. It my heart skip a beat for some reason. Blake being sweet.
"Let's just keep it that way then." I mused. I felt him stop combing my hair but didn't lift his hand away. "Blake?"
"Shhh..." He shush as I felt him harden his hold on my waist. I tensed as he was giving a murderous vibe off him. He held me close, so dangerously close to him for a second. I couldn't hear or smell anything remotely dangerous around.
"What's the matter?" I asked once his hold came loose. Pulling myself from our tangled bodies, I looked at Blake confused.
"I thought I saw something." He states monotonously. Eyeing the surrounding trees.
I looked at the direction he was looking and tried to sniff out the thing Blake saw but I caught nothing unusual.
"I don't see anything..." I spoke when suddenly I caught a glimpse of a pair of glowing eyes staring back at me. I heard Blake growl loudly as he steps forward. I could feel a similar growl rupturing from my chest later.
The eyes stared back unblinking. It could just be a wild animal or something. But it's eyes were larger than any regular animal. I took a cautious step forward making me standing side by side with Blake but suddenly it disappeared and slight breeze blew at the tree tops.
"What was that?" I can't help but voice out my thoughts but Blake remained quiet, glaring at the mysterious eyes have appeared and disappeared to. "Blake? Is everything alright?"
"Oh... It's nothing." He replied, body still at alert as he approached me. "I guess it's time we head back to your pack. If... Well, if the offer is still there?"
I chuckled at him, at his straight face with the faint pink on his cheeks. Blake draped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer.
"What the-!?" I stuttered as he started to walk with me on tow. "I still didn't tell you my answer."
"Just shut up! I already know you're going to say yes." He said smugly as we approached the second jeep parked not to far from where we were standing.
"What makes you sure that I won't say no to you?" I smirked at him as we stood at the driver's door.
He shoved me to the car and pressed his arms on each side. Looking down at me with a smirk and then his face slowly leans down.
"Cause I know you can't say to this." He said huskily as he licked his lips seductively. He leans over and pressed his lips to mine shortly before pulling over. "And are fucking kidding me?" He grins as he stood straight. "I'm fucking hot as hell."
In my flustered state, I can't help but let out a hard laugh. Clutching my stomach with my left hand. Blake eyeing me with amusement in his eyes.
"You sure are full of yourself." I smirked pulling the driver's door open.
He didn't reply but the smug smirk on his face was still plastered on those luscious lips of his. I'll give him this victory for now.
