Butterflies

His left hand was pressed against the headrest, while his other hand was on the cushion, his pinky touching her thigh.

Neither of them moved. Instead, their hearts fluttered, and their stomachs churned as they stared at each other.

Daniel was lost in her beautiful hazel eyes. He could stare at them all day and never get tired. Her rosy parted lips made the butterflies in his stomach fleet higher, and his heart beat faster.

With his eyes still fixed on hers, Daniel called her out. “Emma—”

Emma’s breathing hitched. The first time he had ever addressed her by her first name, and no one had ever done it better. Why did her name suddenly sound so sexy and pleasing?

The sudden sparkle in her eyes did not go unnoticed by him. The slowly progressing adrenaline rush in his body suddenly accelerated, and he knew if he didn’t pull away now, he would end up doing something which wasn’t ideal for the situation they were in.

“The seat belt—” he muttered.

“Huh?”
