Scary Talents

The boys finished eating quickly and returned to their training hall where Maxwell was waiting for them with crossed arms.

"Good to see you back, Rowan. Now, you are going to practice for double the time so you can make up for what you missed in the morning." Maxwell said with a stern tone.

"I'm ready to make up for it." Rowan replied him with a straight face.

"Good." Maxwell nodded before handing the four of them the same type of geno fluid that he had given them the day before. They gulped it down in one smooth motion, before setting to practicing their various geno arts.

Just like the last time, the effects of the geno fluids lasted for only one hour and half before vanishing. This time, Rowan focused on another geno art that was also exclusive to his family. It also revolved around the sword, but was a lot more savage than the one he had practiced before. He did not often use this technique in front of others, because he had been told it made him look like a bloodthirsty predator. But here, he was sure that the Barons and others around him would have firmer minds than his schoolmates back home.

His arms moved with strength, lacking the delicate grace that they usually possessed. He looked as if he was chopping the head off a vicious beast as he slashed downwards.

For the rest of the duration of the effects of the geno fluid, Rowan cycled through the motions and the feelings that the geno art evoked.

Maxwell watched the boys practice, but his eyes were more firmly fixed on Rowan. In his eyes, the boy resembled some sort of vengeful spirit that had risen from the afterlife in order to reap the lives of all who stood against him. There was only one word to describe him with - Scary!

Gulping, he moved his eyes onto the next person that caught his attention - Connor.

Maxwell did not know why, but he had the feeling that Connor would be a scary and formidable opponent to have if he ever formed a geno armament and became a Noble. He carried an air of unquestionable mystique that seemed to shroud his true thoughts. If Maxwell did not know that he was a commoner, then he would have thought that the boy was a Noble that was inclined towards assassination, and was able to suppress his true level.

The next person on the list of interest was Robin. The lively, yellow haired boy's geno art was focused on sonic powers. While his family had not managed to produce any Earls over the various generations tha they had existed, the had managed to constantly raise dozens of Viscounts throughout the many years of their existence. That gave Robin some hope of getting somewhere if he was able to generate a geno armament. Perhaps, if he was able to get his hands on enough valuable resources, and if the Black Gold Organization invested enough in him, he could become an Earl, or maybe even something greater one day!

Last on the list, and the least fascinating person amongst the quad, was Elijah. The boy's geno art was a simple body strengthening geno art that could be attained from many places in any city. It was nothing flashy, but it still held a bit of potential. With a bit of luck, maybe Elijah could get to Viscount class.

Raising a Viscount would surely net him a lot more prestige.

Time passed, and the effects of the geno fluid finally ran out. Rowan's three roommates all felt drained, but Rowan still had a lot more energy in his body to keep going. He quickly collected the second vial of geno fluid and began his second round of practice. This time, his roommates and the other recruits and Nobles in the hall had the chance to watch him as he trained. His firm and decisive movements surprised a lot of the Nobles present.

These Nobles were used to killing, so they knew how firm of a will a person would need to be able to kill. Rowan's will was in no way weak, and his resolved even seemed to surpass that of theirs!

"Dammit. What sort of monster did the Heart Family produce this time?"

"He's no worse than his brother."

"I heard their father was even more talented than the older brother!"

The Nobles around began to chatter, gossip, and exchange tales and rumors. Rowan's display was too exciting! To the commoner recruits, Rowan represented a monster amongst them. The way their instructors turned all their attention to Rowan the moment they could only highlighted the fact that they saw Rowan as better and more interesting than them! It irritated some of the recruits so much that they could not even keep down their angry comments!

"So what if his geno art is that good? We are all still commoners at the end of the day."

"There is even the chance that he might never even become a Noble!"

"What's the point on wasting your breath? Let's just wait until he's ready to generate something. It might simply be commoner armor."

Snarky comments came from left, right, and center as those who were not able to keep up with the display voiced their anger. Even amongst them, however, there were some who were simply in awe of Rowan's abilities.

"Wow... Those are some great moves."

"I know, right? My dad used to work under Roland Heart, the Great Earl of Heart. He was always speaking so well about the man."

"He's hot, though..."

Even though he heard all of these comments, both negative and positive, Rowan simply kept his thoughts to himself and continued his practice. He would never be able to level up to a Baron if he focused on those voices.

An hour and half later, Rowan expended the effects of the geno fluid and wiped the sweat off his forehead.
