The next day, Langris woke up the next day early, because he still had school to attend. The first thing he saw when he woke up was the Quest notification.
< Quest completed >
< Reward 5exp >
< Exp 10/100 >
These quests which gave him a bit of exp were really useful because they would help him level up even when he was not really training at all. This guaranteed him the chance to always progress at any moment.
Langris went to get ready for his school and put on a grey coat with back pants. He later went to the dining room to have breakfast with his family.
On the table, there were Dreyfus, Finnea, Rolem and Elmon.
"Ah, there he is," Elmon said making a gesture to attract Langris next to him.
"Good Morning everyone," Langris said in a tired tone.
Langris went to embrace Finnea who looked even more tired than Langris.
"Good morning son, how was your day yesterday,"
Langris went to find a seat next to Elmon, and in front of Dreyfus before answering her question.
"It was good and full of surprises," Langris said thinking about the system he had just obtained.
"Talking about yesterday, you disappeared with Morlen for a few hours, and one of the guards told me that you went beyond the gates of the estate, so tell me, where were you during that time,"
Dreyfus stared at Langris with a deadly look which brought silence to the whole room. Despite that, Langris wasn't very scared of Dreyfus, the only thing he found scary of him was when he smiled, and that, he did it once in fifty years.
"We went to walk in the plantations just to get some fresh air," Langris replied immediately.
"Are you sure?" Dreyfus insisted, as his look started to get more and more intense.
Without answering his question, Langris looked back at his Uncle with an unphased expression. He wasn't going to get intimidated by someone like him.
Finnea looked at Dreyfus and his son quarrel, and she felt powerless at that moment. There was only one person who was stopping Dreyfus from murdering Langris, and it wasn't her. She had no power over Dreyfus, and if he tried to murder Langris now, she wouldn't be able to stop him.
"Let's just forget about yesterday and concentrate on today, Rolem and Langris, what are you going to do at school today, I heard that today is combat day?" Elmon exclaimed
"Yes, it is combat day today," Rolem replied while eating his food, "the objective is to test how well the students have control over their breathing technique and filial,"
Filials are special attributes that everyone can develop once they reach a certain level of Zeal energy control, and breathing technique mastery.
A filial can consist of an elemental, such as Fire, Water, or wind, it can also consist of bestial transformations such as Phoenix transformation, Eagle transformation, or Tiger transformations, and it can also have other sorts of or powers such as telekinesis, Ice attribute, etc.
For example, Rolem's filial is an advanced type of fire elemental called Hellfire. The tier of his filial is a Gold tier, and there are 8 filial tiers:
Green tier, Yellow tier, Pink tier, Blue tier, Purple tier, Red tier, gold tier, and platinum tier.
Rolem's filial was at the very top, and this is why he is considered to be a great prospect to become a strong Hallow Practitioner.
On the other hand, Langris, despite all these years had never unlocked his filial, because he could never use Zeal energy, and never managed to master his breathing technique efficiently.
< Daily Quest >
< You are hungry, you must eat >
< Progress 0% >
< Reward: 5exp >
Langris looked at the tab and looked around him. He saw that no one saw the tab, and assumed that no one but him could see the tab.
'It seems as these daily quests occur every time I feel tired or hungry, that's great, so daily I could get about maximum 15 exp,"
One of the maidens served Langris dinner, and he didn't waste time eating it to get more exp. Once he was done, the tab showing he had completed his quest reappeared.
"I think we should get going Langris," Rolem said standing from his seat and wiping his mouth with a handkerchief.
Langris stood up as well and nodded his head, "I'll see you later mother,"
He said as he walked out of the dining room and went for the entrance gate. There, was a big black carriage, with two horses in front, and one man standing in front of the door carriage was looking at him and Rolem.
"Good Morning young lords," the man said bowing and opening the door for them.
The two teenagers entered the carriage, and after a few seconds, it started moving.
The schola temple was located in Crale city, the economic capital city of the kingdom. In the human Kingdom, there were 10 cities, with Radian city as the capital city.
The Wranven estate was located just outside the borders of Crale city, therefore, it only took them about 20 minutes to get there.
As the carriage was closing in the city, the two teenagers saw large non-rigid-shaped airships floating above the city.
When they got to the city, there were well-paved paths made of concrete in which carriages would pass in the middle, and the pedestrians would walk on the sides of the paths.
There were magnificent constructions, aligned in rows along the paths on both sides. No citizens would litter, and it seemed like everyone was of a noble family.
It was obvious that this was an era of peace, for the city was lively and clean with many people walking around in shop stands and many more.
After a few minutes, the carriage stopped in front of a big building, surrounded by large iron bar fences with spikes at the top of them.
The servant who brought them there opened the door for the two boys, and they descended the carriage and headed to the construction. That large building was the schola temple.
"Don't be stressed, I'm sure that you'll nail combat!" Rolem said when he saw how stressed Langris was.
Langris chose not to reply and continue walking to the school when a big holographic screen appeared with a woman standing with a smile.
"Good morning dear students, today is combat day, and this is a very important exam that will affect your school record, and determine your chances to join an academy. This is why we hope you will give it your best, and prove to the school that you are worthy of becoming a Hallow Practitioner!"
As Langris entered the building, there were many other students that were heading to their respective classes, and he heard one of the students in the crowd shout out his name.
"Langris, over here!" In the big crowd, he saw a brown curly haired muscular boy waving his arm at him.
This person was Rayzen Hurd, the closest friend Langris could make in his years of schooling here. His filial was Earth elemental, and his filial tier was blue tier which was quite decent given his filial. He was also very strong at hand-to-hand combat due to his corpulence and muscle strength.
"Are you ready for combat day?" Rayzen said fist checking Langris.
"Yeah, I'll try my best," Langris said in a nervous tone.
He couldn't fail this if he wanted to attend a school, because not only did the entrance exams count to pass the academy but also past school records counted as well, and this is why he couldn't afford to fail.
They went to their class and chose to sit on the same bench. In the classroom, each bench was 10 inches higher than the bench in front, meaning the farthest bench was the highest one, and Langris and Rayzen chose the farthest bench in the corner of the class, so they had a view of all the classroom and the people walking inside the classroom as well.
"From what I heard, apparently there will be 3 tests, physical tests, filial power tests, and combat tests," Rayzen said.
"If that's the case, then I can forget about passing the filial power tests, but if I have a good mark in combat, and physical, it can cover up my bad mark on filial power," Langris replied nervously.
"The average points for each test are 40 points, and the best point is 70 so the average mark someone should get is 120 points and the max someone can get is 210 points..."
When they were talking, the class had already filled up, and a woman dressed in black clothes exposed the middle of her whole upper body and the side of her breasts. She had pink long hair and an arrogant expression with crossed arms. That person was miss Morgana Heiros
"Good Morning class, most of you may know what is going on today, today is combat day. Just like all the 4th-year classes, you will be passing three tests, physical, filial power, and combat tests. This is like your final exam, so if you fail, then there are not many chances that you will be accepted to pass any Hallow Practitioner's academy exam, this is why I want my students to all be ready, and some others, prepare for their fate..."
When she said those words, she looked at Langris with a cold look, he was the only one who couldn't use Zeal energy, and this is why she thought it was a waste of time letting him continue this school system when he could have already been in his 2nd year of academic study to be a scholar.
'I know what you're thinking, but don't bury me already... I'll prove you wrong, and I'll show you that I've got what it takes!"
