Chapter 9: Hallow Angel System

When Langris woke back up, he felt something soft sticking to his lips, and occasionally applying immense pressure at the level of his chest.

He gave a few quick blinks in order to put his vision back to normal, and he suddenly saw two lips closing to his.

"ARGH, WHAT THE FUCK!!!" Langris shouted as he pushed the person back.

It was only the guard and Morlen who apparently was in tears watching on the sideline. They were still in this secret waterfall cave Morlen had shown them, and it turns out that it was already starting to get dark.

"Thank goodness you're alive!" Morlen said wiping off the tears from his cheeks.

The guard on the other hand looked like he had just gambled for his life and managed to pull himself out of the situation at the very last moment.

"What on earth happened, the guard said that he found you unconscious in an underground cave below this cave, is that true?"

It took Langris a while to answer the question because he was still trying to remember everything that had happened when he got there and before everything turns black

"So I entered the underground cave and followed this light, which led me to an angel, and after that, the angel explained to me the divine war, and disappeared in thin air leaving some white-ball behind him. The ball then rushed at me, and that's when I fell unconscious, but what happened after?"

Langris started to think harder, and harder until an image of writing came to his mind right after he fell unconscious.

"What are you talking about?" Morlen asked Langris as confused as the guard currently was.

"Oh yes, then I saw writings appear in front of me, it said something about obtaining a system... It was some sort of video game tab,"

Suddenly, the blue and bald writings appeared right in front of him once again.

"Do you guys see this?" Langris asked astonished looking at the tab.

Meanwhile, Morlen and the guard looked at Langris staring at thin air and talking to himself like a mad man.

"We must get home before he starts licking the ground," Morlith told the guard as he started to pack his stuff, "Oh, and by the way, if you talk about all this, I'll make sure your career as one of the family guards end immediately,"

Morlith looked at the guard with a menacing expression and had his index finger raised at the guard who felt frightened by the menace.

On the other hand, Langris had in front of him, a tab similar to the ones in the video games in his previous life.

"Do you guys see this?" Langris asked as he turned his head to the guard and Morlen.

"Listen Langris, I don't have time for the bullshit, it's nearly getting dark, so I think it's better if we could just go home..." Morlith replied before throwing Langris's clothes at him.

'So they don't see it?' Langris thought, 'So this really is some kind of video game...'

Langris tried to reach for the tab, however, he just made the tab disappear when he passed right through it.

"Huh, what the fu-"

"Langris, stop wasting time, we've gotta go," Morlen repeated once again with his clothes already on.

The sky was getting dark, and Langris thought that it would be better if he could learn more about this sort of system alone in his room.

Once at the estate, the first thing Langris did was head to his room to learn more about the system.

Before he parted ways with Morlith, Langris made sure that he was going to keep this incident secret for now, because it would create a lot of suspicions if they found out Langris was unconscious in an underground cave.

"Morlith, it would be better if you didn't tell anyone about what happened..." Langris told him.

"Do you really think that I'll tell anyone what happened today?" Morlith replied, "Obviously I won't, don't worry about that!!"

The two teens then went their separate ways, and Langris went directly to his room to learn more about the system.

The moment he reached his room, he saw Nalia, who was in the room and was putting a plate of rice and chicken on the desk near his bed.

"Oh, Nalia, have you been here for long?"

"No I haven't," Nalia said placing the plate on the bed, "I'm just here to drop your food,"

"Thanks, Nalia, I really appreciate your kindness, you've been like a second mother to me since the beginning," He told her with a soft smile.

"As I always say, you shouldn't be thanking me, my job here is to assist you and your mother,"

"By the way, where is mother, I haven't seen her since the morning?"

"Your mother left for anuction with your grandfather, they won't be back until tomorrow,"

Grandfather Elmon was very fond of ancient relics and mystique armors, and the best way to find these items was to attend special auctions, and he would occasionally go with his daughter for a bit of company.

"Is there anything else you need me to do?" Nalia asked.

"Nothing for the moment, you may take your leave, I must get ready for school tomorrow"

Langris and Rolem would both attend the schola temple school, which hosted many of the great nobles of the Kingdom. Over there, they could learn the basics of Zeal energy and improve their skills.

Knowledge-wise, Langris had the level to attend a scholar's academy already, however, he was aiming to become a Hallow Practitioner, and for now, he wasn't making much progress, and he was aiming to join the Zixons academy, one of the greatest Hallow Practitioner's academy.

If he wanted to attend this academy, he would have to pass the exams which were this year, and there is no way that he will pass currently.

"Alright, let's check this thing out," Langris said right after Nalia had left.

There was just one problem, he didn't know how to make it appear.

"Damn it, there is surely something I thought of or said that made it appear, like menu... or video game... or, I don't know, tab?"

Suddenly, the blue writing appeared once again.

'This is just like the comics I read before, but it's been a long time, 14 years to be exact, I'm not sure I remember everything,"

When Langris was speaking, another tab appeared above the current one, and in Bald, was written DAILY QUEST.

< You are getting hungry, eat food >

< Progress 0% >

< Reward: 5exp >

"A quest, just like in the comics I read," Langris said, "This really is similar to the comics I've read,"

The rice and chicken on the desk came at the right time, and Langris took the plate and started eating. The more he was eating, he could see that the progress percentage was getting higher.

< Progress 100% >

When he was done eating the food, another tab appeared signaling him that he had completed the quest.

< Quest completed >

< Reward 5exp >

< Level 0 >

< Exp 5/100 >

"So that's how it works, I wonder what I'll get once I level up,"

Langris wasn't completely unfamiliar with this, he had read a lot of comics, and fantasy novels, in his previous life, so he knew what to do, and what the system's objective was. It was just like he was in a fantasy novel himself.

< New Quest >

< You must get some sleep >

< Reward 5 exp >

"Another quest huh?" Langris said in excitement.

His blood started boiling in excitement because he was expecting to get as powerful as the Mc of the novels he had read in his previous life.

He realized that if he didn't have a chance to enter Zixons academy. From now on, his real training started now, and he would make up for all the lost training in the previous years.
