Chapter 22: See through ability

In total darkness, Langris saw the message pop up with below it, a description of the ability.

< Universal See through: This allows the user to detect Zeal Energy in the area as well as see through any object. Additionally, this ability gives 3 points boost in agility durability, filial, and Stamina due to the fact this ability boosts the user's breathing technique. However, in order to use this technique, the user uses up a lot of energy, which may result in body pain and fatigue. In order to last longer with the ability, the user must have a high amount of endurance >

When Langris was done reading the description, a slight grin came upon his face when he realized that in the darkness of the night, he could clearly detect the monsters circling him and his teammates.

"It's time to test this out,"

There were 3 green monsters with a fury back, 8 red eyes on each side, and several legs that had circled them.

From behind him, Langris felt a menacing presence getting closer to him, and without a second thought, he side dashed to dodge the incoming threat.

To his surprise, the attack was a spider web launched by one of the spiders.

'If that was a few seconds earlier, I would've surely got hit...'

Langris thought with wide-open eyes looking at the webs that had stuck to a nearby tree.

However, it wasn't the time for Langris to be distracted, because there were still 3 spiders to take down.

When he looked in front of him, he spotted one of the spiders as he was running sideways around him and his mates.

"It's time to use Nirvana chains!" Langris shouted.

He then aimed his hand at the spider with deep concentration. He slowly moved his hand sideways so that the chain would hit the spider as he was running.

"Now!" Langris shouted as he unleashed the chains from the palm of his hand and it launched quick as flash towards it's target.

The Spider was getting closer, and the chain was going at full speed, and at the moment of collision, the chain had reached a few centimeters away from the Spiders head, before it stopped abruptly, and rushed back into Langris' palm.

Langris glared at his palm with frowned eye brows wondering why it suddenly came back to him.

"Could it be that this chain has a given length..." Langris whispered.

Before he could even have time to think more, he felt yet another imminent attack coming in his way, and once again, performed an acrobatic backflip to dodge the attack.

Even despite his great skills to dodge the first attack, he felt yet another attack coming from behind him once again, and the attack was too close for him to dodge.

"Crap!" Langris shouted as he tilted his head to look behind.

The attack was getting closer and closer, and at the very last moment when Langris was ready to receive the attack head on, a large pressure of wind changed the attack's trajectory.

It was Alfur who came to the rescue at the very last moment to save Langris. Alfur looked exhausted however, he was taking large deep breaths, and one arm was wrapped around Rayzen's arm while the other was pointing in Langris' directions.

"I've managed to collect only 3 orbs..." Alfur said in an exhausted tone.

"So that must mean there are still 2 huh..." Langris said examining his surroundings.

"Correct... but even with that, only one of us will be able to leave this place," Rayzen answered.

All of their expressions turned into a worried one when they realized they still have more than 10 monsters to kill.

"We've got to start by killing these ones!" Langris exclaimed.

'What can I do in this situation... I hate to admit it, but at this rate, we won't pass, unless Rayzen turns out to be useful. Damn it, if only he had the same eyes as me...'

Suddenly, Langris came up with an idea, "Hey, can you use your filial to direct a human arm too?"

Astonished by the question, Alfur stuttered before answering, "Of-Of course, I could do it since the first few months I obtained my filial,"

"Then Rayzen, I need you to form a rock ball, and Alfur, direct Rayzen's arm to aim at the spider. Once you feel it's the right moment, all you have to do is tell Rayzen to fire. Meanwhile, I will cover Alfur, and try my best to kill a monster,"

"I-I-I don't quite understand what you mean," Alfur said confused by Langris' explanation.

"Become Rayzen's eyes!" Langris shouted.

Immediately after, Alfur closed his eyes and used his wind abilities to move Rayzen who had formed 2 rock balls.

Alfur lifted Rayzen's hand and started to move it and the rock balls which were floating above the ground were moving too.

"Now!" Alfur shouted and Rayzen launched the rock balls in the direction in front of him.

The rock balls rushed in the direction, and the spider who was sprinting got hit head-on by the attack completely smashing it into the tree.

"Nicely played!" Langris shouted.

This moment of pleasure was short though because there was still one last spider, and Langris wanted to kill it himself.

'Green Spiders are fast and move in groups of at least five. When they see their prey, they circle the target and wait for the moment the prey is caught off guard to attack. When they attack, the spiders stop for a few seconds, to aim at their target, and that's the moment I am going to strike, but I'll have to concentrate and go full speed for this,'

Langris closed his eyes and stayed still as he concentrated on the Zeal Energy of the spider. He waited for the right moment to strike when the spider would stay still.

He sensed the energy was sprinting around him, but suddenly, the Zeal Energy stopped. Without a second wasted, Langris dashed in that direction and when he opened his eyes, he saw the spider was already launching an attack.

'I won't be able to dodge the attack, I've got to eliminate it before it attacks,' Langris thought.

He used the Nirvana Chains once again, and the chain went rushing at the spider with the sharp dagger at the end of the chain.

Before the spider could even charge its attack, the Nirvana Chains went piercing through its head and obliterating it to nothing.
