Chapter 23: Red Blood moon wolves

"That was the last of them..." Alfur said.

He put both hands on his knees and breathed a sigh of relief. He was breathing heavily and needed some time to rest.

"Are you ok?" Rayzen walked to Alfur with a concerned face, "We still need you, there are still 10 monsters we have to deal with,"

At this point, it was most probable that Alea had already killed as much as she needed, and the second would be nearly done. Langris was aware of that, but the objective wasn't to complete the first but, to complete the training.

"I'm going to start moving, you guys just wait here for a while," Langris told them as he looked in the distance, and spotted a pack of blood moon wolves.

"Wait, isn't it too dangerous?' Alfur lifted his head to look at Langris with his face covered in sweat.

'I can't wait for them, the description of the Universal whatever clearly said that the longer I use it the more energy it will consume,'

The blood moon wolf pack seemed to have not detected the three students, and Langris wanted to surprise attack them.

"Don't worry, once you feel better join me," Langris said shortly before pacing towards the wolves leaving a smoke of dust behind him.

'I am gonna try going quick with this, and do everything in one blow with the Nirvana Chains, there is no time to waste, I can already feel some pain at the level of my chest,'

As he dashed at the wolf pack, without hesitation, as soon as he got close enough, he released his Nirvana Chains at one of the wolves that didn't even have time to realize what it got killed.

The chain pierced through the wolf's skull and rushed back into Langris' hand.

Without paying attention to the notifications, Langris halted his run and looked around him. He identified 3 wolves with black fur, and red eyes in the darkness each glaring at him menacingly.

Waiting for the first wolf to make a wolf, Langris kept his composure, and eventually, one of the wolves would make the first move.

From behind him, one of the wolves lept with its sharp teeth ready to seize on Langris' flesh.

Fortunately, with a great reaction time, Langris performed a back flip meters above the ground to avoid the wolf. Midair, as his head was upside down facing the ground, Langris pointed his hand at the wolf and launched his chains once again the wolf.

However, he wanted to try something new this time. As the chains were rushing to the wolf, as soon as they reached the target, the chains merely missed the wolf. At that moment, Langris pulled the chain back to him, wrapping the chain around the wolf's neck in the process.

'It worked, and it seems like the more I exert force on my arm, the tighter the grip is... Let me try another thing,'

Suddenly, Langris held the chain tightly with his both hands and slowly started rotating around himself, dragging the suffocating wolf with him.

As seconds went by, he started to gain more pace and momentum, and at a point, the wolf started to elevate above the ground. Langris was going so fast at the point, that the wolf was hitting through trees smashing them in two.

As tiredness started to take over, Langris spotted the second wolf that wanted to attack him whilst he was distracted.

'*smirk* Let's finish this with class,' Langris thought, and he used his last force to swing the flying wolf to the second wolf.

Both wolves hit each other making them fly away and hit a tree killing both instantly.

The Nirvana Chains rushed back into Langris' palm who was completely exhausted.

"I feel my body getting heavier," He whispered looking at the last wolf standing, "I don't feel like I'll be able to use my Nirvana Chains anymore, I've used up too much energy... so I guess I'll have to go on a hand to claw combat,"

The wolf rushed at Langris who had lifted his arms up and put himself in a defensive stance.

Once close enough, the wolf attempted to claw strike Langris, but the latter had lowered his body to dodge the strike and retaliated with a sweep kick on the wolf who fell to the ground.

To finish the wolf off, Langris was going to deliver a powerful fist blow before he felt a sort of painful pressure exerted on his back which made him fly forward and hit the ground brutally.

"Dang it," Langris grunted in pain, as he touched his back and felt three bloody claw marks on his back.

It was only once he lifted his head that he had seen the hp that had been drained by this single attack.

'My see-through ability should have detected the second wolf's presence unless the ability has reached its limit... plus, only one of those attacks drained my health so much, luckily I leveled up, so my health bar has increased, despite that, I'll only be able to take one last hit,'

He analyzed both wolves and saw that the one who he had put on the ground had his paw slightly lifted. To Langris, this was a weakness he could exploit, however, he had to double precautions because his see-through ability is not as sharp as before.

'I must catch them by surprise...'

Langris dashed toward the injured wolf and expected to get a quick kill in order to face the healthy one in a 1 on 1. The only problem was that Langris' body was in great pain, therefore, his physical aptitudes had decreased, and he wasn't as fast as he expected to be.

At the moment he was about to reach for the injured wolf, the one right beside him countered with a strike in Langris' left eye.

This caused Langris to miss his target and fall on the ground a few steps away from the wolves.

'Damn it...' Langris realized how critical the situation was, 'I'm gonna die to some low-graded monster?'

His body was not responding to his commands, and his vision was getting more and more blurry. He frowned his eyebrows and bit his lips frustrated by the situation he was in.

'It hasn't even been 10 minutes that I'm already exhausted...' Langris sighed as he felt the wolves getting closer to him.

Realizing there was nothing to stop them from finishing him he tried to think of a way to escape. He could hear their growls getting closer and as a last attempt, he tried to crawl away from the wolves in vain.

'I'm gonna die a virgin twice...' He whispered in despair.

He had closed his eyes and accepted his fate before he heard a swishing movement, and the wolves emitting a high pitched shriek.

A few seconds after, he lifted his eyes, and saw a character with long golden hairand her hands on her hips in front of her.

"Alea?"
