Chapter 24: Learn more

"Are you ok?" She asked as she tried to lift him up.

He was too stunned to speak, out of all people, she was the one who saved him?

"Umm... yeah I'm ok, I just need some time to recover," Langris said with a slight smile.

She lifted him up and put him down near a tree so he could lean on it.

"Your filial is quite interesting," She said looking down at him with crossed arms.

Langris decided to just smile at her comment, he still wasn't sure what to give as an answer to what his filial was.

"For how long have you been watching me?" He asked her immediately after.

She looked away with her arms crossed and replied, "I got here when you were in a critic situation, so I decided to help you out because we are both of high nobility, that's all,"

Confused, Langris frowned his eyes and looked down before responding, "But you said my filial was interesting... so you've seen me use it,"

After hearing that, an annoyed expression came up Alea's face and she turned her eyes to the side to look at Langris.

"I could've left you there but I decided to save you, and I haven't even been thanked yet!" She shouted authoritatively.

He gave her a nervous smile and put both hands in front explaining to her he didn't want any dispute.

"Oh... Where are my manners, I'm really grateful, don't get the wrong idea, I was just surprised you showed up to save me, after how confident you were before the training, I thought you were a cold person,"

"Hmpf," She said as she looked away once again, "I am only kind to the people I respect,"

Astonished by her answer, Langris widened his eyes and responded, "It's an honor to know that I have earned your respect, even if I don't know how I did,"

He smiled back at her, and she looked away as her cheeks slightly reddened. A small moment of silence started, and during that time, Langris felt the pain in his wounds reducing.

'HP regain huh? I assume it's just like in video games, you regain your HP after some time of inactivity, oh, I nearly forgot, I upgraded my level too!'

'This training has proved I have good agility, and my filial could be better. My Endurance is shit, and my strength is quite good too. I feel like upgrading my Endurance by two could make a big difference to how long I can use my Universal see-through, and upgrading my filial by two could prevent me from using up too much Zeal Energy. I could add my last stat point to Stamina then... I'll do that,'

Alea realized how concentrated Langris was, and she decided to ask him what he was thinking of.

"What has got you so concentrated?" She said turning her head to him with her arms still crossed.

Langris who was totally in the zone looked up at her and tried to make something up.

"My teammates... they should be back by now, but for some reason, they are still nowhere to be seen,"

At that very moment, he had said that he heard voices from afar. When he listened more carefully, he realized those voices were shouting his name.

In the distance, Alfur and Rayzen were both running in his direction, and they were surprised to see who was with him.

"Langris, you're ok!" Rayzen shouted.

"You're still here, I thought you would already be done," Alfur said walking to Alea.

"My business has nothing to do with you," she said coldly with her head turned the other way.

A bit frustrated by her response, Alfur walked to Langris to see how he was doing.

"Are you ok? Hold on, let me help you up," Alfur said leaning his arm to help Langris.

As Langris tried to stand up, Alea intervened, "He has some bad injuries, I suggest we let him rest first,"

A small moment of silence came because Alfur was too shocked to respond immediately. It was the first time he saw Alea actually care about someone other than her family.

When Alea realized the reason for the sudden silence, she stepped away and crossed her arms once again.

"Not that I would care anyways,"

"Don't worry," Langris then intervened, "I'm ok now, my injuries have already healed, they were not that bad,"

He slowly stood back up, and Alea realized that all his injuries were nearly gone. She didn't want to raise the point because she didn't want Alfur to think she cared about Langris, however, she was curious to know how he healed that quickly.

"Anyways, it seems like my job is done here, I will be heading back to camp now," Alea told Langris.

"It was nice to meet you again and get to know you more," Langris replied smiling at her.

She rolled her eyes down, and crossed her arm before saying, "It was a pleasure meeting you too..."

Then, she turned around and mumbled a few words, and a portal that resembled the one they passed to enter the forest appeared in front of her. With the orbs she had collected, she walked through the portal unharmed, and it closed immediately behind her.

"I guess it's time for us to get to work," Langris said.

"Have you collected enough orbs?" Rayzen asked Langris.

"Yeah, all we need now is 5 more and we're good to go..." Langris replied stretching his arms.

"No need," Rayzen said before displaying 5 of the blue orbs, "On our way, we eliminated 5 other enemies,"

Langris was slightly disappointed by that because he wanted to test out his new stat upgrades and see if his endurance had changed.

"That's great, so we can get outta here," Langris replied with a forced smile.

Alfur turned around and said a series of incantations before a portal spawned right in front of him.

Basic Incantations, such as portal spawning were taught to the students. In their academy years, they would be taught to summon their weapons, and for the students that want to specialize, they would be taught alchemy.

"Let's get outta here," Langris shouted.
