A bad memory

Joseph walked angrily into his company's building looking very angry and troubled. He had been having a lot of sleepless nights after his father's accident. He knew his father's accident was not just an accident but a planned and calculated one and he sought to find out who orchestrated it. His father, Joseph Wright was no saint and had a lot of enemies so it was difficult for him and his brothers to pinpoint the actual mastermind behind the death of their father.

" Good morning brother," his younger brother Justin said, bringing him out of his thoughts.

" There is absolutely nothing good about this morning Justin, what the hell do you want?" he answered, rudely, and his brother smiled in return.

" Calm down Big wolf, you seem to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning," Justin said, still amused by his brother's behaviour.

" Shut up! Justin, I have not slept for days because I have been lost in thoughts thinking about the people involved in our father's accident and their next line of action and you stand in front of me smiling, what the hell is wrong with you," Joseph replied in a scream which attracted stares from their staff.

" You are not the only one thinking about dad's accident and the whole issues surrounding it, I have been thinking about it and so has Jeremy. Just because we choose not to wallow in pain and torment like you does not mean we do not care about our father and his company," Justin responded with anger arising in him.

" If you really care Justin, show it," Joseph spoke in annoyance as he walked out of him.

" I wanted to tell you that our brother's graduation is this Saturday if you're interested in coming brother," Justin screamed at him from behind and he paused.

" I have better things to take care of," Joseph responded as he stood still, he looked up for a mini second before continuing in his steps.

" You promised Mom, think of what…," Justin said but was cut short by his brother.

" Don't ever mention her infront of me, she never kept her promise to me," Joseph yelled, halting in his steps as he turned and looked at Justin with eyes boiling with rage.

"Calm down, I won't mention her but it would be nice if you could make time to be there for him," Justin responded in regret of what he said.

" I will try," Joseph finally responded before walking away and for real this time.

Justin stared at his brother as he entered the office. He understood his brother was going through a lot and had also faced a lot growing up especially from their dad. Joseph had grown up to be a father figure for them especially since their biological father was always away on business trips and other things they were not aware of. They grew up without their mother, Justin had little knowledge of her because he was only five when his mother left but Joseph remembered every bit about her and he had never forgiven her for abandoning them as kids. Their younger brother, Jeremy, never met her since she left the day he was born. They grew up with their nanny who was more than a mother to them and they loved her with all of their hearts. Justin knew his brother was facing a lot of emotional trauma and he tried to hide it by being cruel, disrespectful and arrogant and he wished within him for a change in him.

Later in the evening

Jeremy stared out at the window as thoughts of his older brother flashed through his mind. He had always been grateful to Joseph for being a fatherly figure to him right from childhood and he wanted to see him at his graduation more than anything. He was very excited to be graduating and he couldn't wait to join his brothers in the handling of their father's real estate company.

" Hey bud, how are you doing?," Justin asked from behind him, startling him.

" Hey Justin, how long have you been standing there? I didn't notice your presence," Jeremy replied as he turned to see his older brother behind him.

" Not for long Buddy, I came here to see the newest graduating college student in the family and I'm happy to see how excited you are," Justin said as he patted him on his back.

" I will be more excited if our brother will be in attendance, did you speak to him about it?," Jeremy asked as he looked at him hoping for a positive response.

" Yeah I did buddy," Justin replied, he paused for a bit as he saw his brother's face.

" What did he say Justin? Will he be attending?," Jeremy asked as he looked at his brother's worried face.

" He said he will try to be there Buddy, you know he has a lot on his plate as the new CEO of the company and he still has a lot of things to do, but don't worry, I know he will try his best to be there for you," Justin responded with a smile.

" I understand that brother, I will just be really happy to see him there," Jeremy replied, returning his smile.

" Okay buddy, get in here," Justin said as he pulled him towards himself for a hug.

" I can't wait to join the both of you in the company, I know it's going to be a wonderful experience," Jeremy replied as he pulled himself away from him.

" I can't wait to see you on suit and tie buddy, I hope you know your dress code will be different and you know our brother likes perfection," Justin said with a smile as he touched his shoulders, he remembered how young and tender he used to be and he was very happy to see him turn into a great man.

" Yeah I do," Jeremy replied, bringing him out of his thoughts. " I want to be more like you, the cool and normal brother. Big brother and I are just so different, he is more like our father," Jeremy added and Justin's eyes lit up.

" Don't ever say that!," Justin said almost in a yell as anger reflected in his eyes.
