A sister's sacrifice

Amberle jumped out of bed in fear after she had another nightmare and it had been going on for days. She kept on dreaming about her father, who had died while trying to save her from a fire in their old house, a fire which she had carelessly started. Amberle Jones was a twenty five years old housing agent, who grew up with her little sister Anna and their mom. After the fire incident that took the life of her father, Amberle and the rest of her family suffered before they could get a permanent place to live. They hopped from the homes of one family member to another and it was a dreadful experience for her and her younger sister. At the age of sixteen, she got a job and supported her mother and she was able to save enough to go to college. She graduated and became a house agent. Her push was to own houses and not just one but numerous houses, she wanted a better life for her mom and her little sister and that made her work really hard.

" Another nightmare?," Anna asked as she saw the fear in her sister's eyes. Amberle had been having nightmares for months and she had refused to share them with her and though their mom was unaware of her even having nightmares, it broke Anna to see her like this.

" Yes Anna, but I'm okay. Did I wake you up?," Amberle asked as she looked at her with concern.

" Yeah you did but don't worry about that big sis. What happened to you? You look terrified, you really need to start talking about your nightmares sister so we can all find a way to help you get over it quickly," Anna said, worried as she stared at her sister who was looking worn out from her nightmare.

" It's okay Anna and I mean it, don't worry about me and go to bed. We have a big day tomorrow, we're going to the store to get you a lovely dress for your graduation party," Amberle replied as she formed a smile on her face.

" I just want you to be okay big sis, you know I care a lot about you and I also owe you a lot," Anna responded as a tear dropped from her cheek.

" Oh not again Anna, you don't have to be grateful to me for anything. You are my little sister and I would do anything for you without batting an eye," Amberle said as she wiped the year off her face.

" Thanks for giving me the opportunity you never gave yourself. I would not be graduating from the EliteStars university if not for all your efforts sister," Anna responded with a smile.

" Oh Anna, I should be grateful to you for utilizing the opportunity you were given properly. You are graduating as one of the best students of your class and you are also the valedictorian, what else could I wish for in life apart from seeing you succeed and going to the places that I couldn't go to," Amberle replied with a smile and tears started dropping from the both of their cheeks.

" I would never exchange you for anyone else big sis," Anna said as she moved towards her for a hug.

" Me too dear," Amberle replied as she returned her hug. " Now go back to bed," Amberle said as she tucked her in bed.

Amberle stared at her sister until she slept. She wished she could also sleep peacefully like her but it was impossible for her and she wondered why. Anna had always been her bedrock and she was ready to do anything for her. She used most of her life savings to send her to the most expensive and glamorous university in the city despite attending a public university herself and she was ready to spend more on her so she would not experience the life of poverty she experienced. Anna was a young and beautiful lady and she had always excelled in her academics without any distractions and that made Amberle very proud of her. She basically sacrificed all her life to groom Anna into the woman she was becoming and nothing made her more Happy than that, however with the time and efforts she put in her sister's life, she forgot to have a life of her own. She had never felt love or being loved by anyone and despite having many suitors and advances because of her alluring beauty, she had never felt the need to accept anyone of them. Her mom tried to bring it up but she always waved it away with the excuse of trying to model her sister's life and now that her sister is no longer a child and is having all her life set out for her, she knows it's almost time for her to focus on herself and everything she had been running from.

" I can't imagine myself falling in love with anyone, I'd rather focus on making my dreams come through. I'm going to own a real estate company and I'm going to have hundreds of houses under my name. I'm doing this all for you dad," she muttered quietly as she closed her eyes to sleep. She rolled on the bed until she finally fell asleep and as she slept she had another dream. She saw her dad smiling at her and her dream self looked at him confused.

" Dad, what happened?," She asked as she looked at him confused.

" It's almost time dear, time for all your sufferings to end and you won't need me anymore," he replied with a smile.

" What do you mean by that dad? I'm always going to need you, you keep me going dad and what time are you talking about dad? Time for what?," She asked him confusedly as many questions ran through my mind.

" You will soon no longer need me, my beautiful girl, the time for you to be happy will soon be here," he responded before disappearing.

" Come back dad, I don't understand. Dad! Dad!!!," She shouted, waking up from her dream terrified and confused, she quickly looked over to her sister and found her still sleeping.

" Time for what Dad," she muttered under her breath as she stared at the ceiling.
