Weird!
Finn sat back on the chair dismayed because other students who were present laughed at his weird exorbitance as he turned to Lindsey who maintained a slight frown.
"Can you tell me why you're different??" She folded her arms. His face squeezed as well
"Are you ok? I almost had it, that was a scorpion for crying out loud. You just made me look stupid before everyone." Finn said
"What? You're nuts man, you took a cookie out of the bag almost crushing it. How's that normal to you?" She explained, she had no idea about what he saw
"That was a scorpion, a huge one! Don't treat me like a fool Miss, i am completely sober!" He said defensively. She smiled pressing down her agitation and continued
"You tried to crush a cookie for no reason, who does that?"
"Whatever!" He stood up to leave as he bumped into Jack who was laughing hysterically at the video he was seeing through his phone.
"What's up dude! Did you try to act funny again? I told you that jokes are meant for people like me definitely not you, nerd!" Jack blurted out and laughed again
"Just stop ok, you think this is funny?" Finn was furious
"Woah...woah...woah! Chill man, i was only joking though! I don't mean it. Its the clip i saw just now, that everyone's seeing....see!" Jack replayed the clip for Finn to watch.
Finn was boiling in anger, Lindsey sighted his squeeezed face, it was obvious that Finn was angry. She dragged the phone and watched it as well, she wasn't excited even if it looked quite funny.
Jack coaxed Finn to sit by also assisting him, Finn was silent. They sat as well staring into his confused eyes.
"From the same nightmare...to image on the mirror...to the bangs on the door...to the portal on the ceiling and now...a Scorpion in the bag...." He rubbed his face in distress, his face fell to the surface of the table. They were confused this time, unable to articulate what he had just said.
"What?" They said in union almost yelling in shock
"What do you mean the same nightmare?" Lindsey asked first
"...And the image, portal, scorpion...what's all of that?" Jack asked too as they tilted their face toward his, he raised his head up to look at their curious faces.
"The nightmare I've always had, the same one i told you about. Everything has been creepy lately...i just can't figure out why!" He explained again
"But could you at least explain the cookie incident..." Lindsey inquired, this time she seemed serious. She had thought about the weird reactions he let out earlier.
"I dipped my head into this bag and there! There was a scorpion, i threw to the floor to kill and you interrupted, thanks to you! It could hurt someone out there!" Finn said
"I just...i saw you take a cookie not a scorpion, even the video says better!"
"Its obvious, bro!" Jack added still unable to understand
"You've gotta believe me! I saw a scorpion...i tried to kill it! There's got to be some forces out there taking charge..." Finn was relentless, he knew what he was talking about but it seemed like the others had a different eyes to see what he's been saying. "Do you even believe me at all?" Finn asked again, their faces said a different thing
"C'mon Finn! You particularly said that mythical forces don't exist..." Jack reminded
"...And even if they did, they could never ever hunt you! Remember? Your words not ours!" Lindsey added rightfully
Finn felt overridden. His face wandered in guilt.
"Yeah i said that but that was a long time ago...i was only 12 y'all! C'mon! That's even before my dad passed away!"
"What you're trying to make us believe is also unbelievable!" Lindsey said
"Look Finn! Maybe we've been seeing alot of spooky movies lately, we should take a break until you recover from your hallucinations!" Jack suggested what he thought was best but Finn was disappointed, there was no way he could prove to his friends that there was something abnormal going on.
"It's ok if y'all don't believe me, its cool!" He walked away angrily with a fierce look on his face. They tried to call him back but he was too angry to listen or turn back.
"I don't think he's ok, Jack! He did some crazy stuff before now! I saw him throw a cookie to the ground ready to smash, i had to stop him. It seemed stupid not just to me but to everyone." Lindsey explained.
"Do you think he might he telling the truth? I mean, He's been talking about the same nightmare for years now..." Jack gave a thought but Lindsey countered defiantly
"Way too Impossible Jack! Dreams reoccur..."
"For more than a year?" He asked "Its five years, Lindy!"
"Ok look! I dunno but that should not be a problem right now, i think its normal..." She smiled forcefully then stopped since Jack wasn't. "...Somehow!" She finalised.
They joined him in the class because class was about to start.
Finn scurried into the boys restroom, he was confused and overly terrified for reasons he couldn't tell especially times he couldn't explain, it seemed like the world saw a different thing rather than his.
He was alone once again in dead silence. He turned on the tap to rinse his face, he rinsed it over and over. He heard footsteps and saw footprints of blood on the floor, squeaks of doors opening and closing ramdomly and swiftly, the lights turned off and on intermittently. He looked into the mirror, his eyes widened, his mouth watered, his skin had developed bumps, the creepy reflection in the mirror terrified him off his feet. A dark figure in a black cape was standing right behind him and when he turned around, he found nothing.
He turned to the mirror still trying to cope with the unusual sounds and the lights flickered, the figure held out a bronze sceptre towards Finn. The edge of the sceptre pierced through the mirror almost plunging Finn's chest, his hands were glued to the sink unable to retract, he screamed out at the top of his voice.
"No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Finn!" Jack and Lindsey called out in unison. They ran to him instantly while he fell to the floor, he felt relieved from a strangling grip over him, everything turned back to normal, almost impossible to believe that something has changed from its normal position.
He was panting breathlessly while they tried to revive him, he had fainted.
An hour later,
Finn opened his eyes slowly staring into the florescent bulb above his head hanging on the ceiling. The specter of the previous dreadful event had not exited his mind, it hunted him like his mother hunter criminals. He turned to his right, Lindsey and Jack stood next to him. He sat up abruptly without hesitating, he seemed terrified. His eyes wandered around the walls where it was boldly scribbled in dripping blood 'COME FINN, YOU CAN'T RUN FROM ME', he flustered in confusion. He turned to his friends who were covered in doubt and chaos, it was hard for them to explain his instability. They pinned him to the bed trying to calm him down again, Lindsey handed him a glass of water, while his hand shivered; he gulped it down trying to focus as Jack assisted in the therapy. He closed his eyes tightly then opened up, everything had gone back to normal.
"Finn, are you ok?" Lindsey began
"What's up, dude? You scared me off my pants! What's going on?" Jack added. Their eyes were fixed on his.
"Didn't y'all see the writing on the Wall?" He asked, their impressionns depicted chaos, they were lost. He understood instantly, no one would see what he sees which makes him looked like a psychopath. "Right! You can't see nothing!" He said bluntly in disappointment, get turned away.
"Bu..But you can..." Jack turned to Lindsey then back to Finn. "...tell us all about it...we could help, like finding out what exactly happened!" Jack said as they nodded positively. Finna turned to them
"If you can't see what I'm seeing then you can't help me as well!" Finn blurted but they were still eager and curious.
"What happened at the restroom? You were completely disrupted..." Lindsey asked
"...'Coz i am!" He yelled "Can't y'all see?" He stopped then continued calmly "I walked into the restroom to wash my face 'coz i felt some eeriness, i heard creaking doors, the lights flickered, footprints of blood on the floor while it approached...th..then i looked into mirror and there it was. A black cape. I can't tell if it was a human or not but it seemed like a creepy creature holding a sceptre...it pierced thru' the mirror where i stood reaching for my chest...its..i was stuck, i just couldn't help but scream. That's when y'all walked in. I could remember being released, I felt suffocated..." He stopped, he was dismayed.
"Do you have any idea what's chasing after you?" Jack asked
"I don't! I keep seeing this same figure every fuckin' time, its after my life...for sure!" Finn flared up again, he was infuriated. Lindsey turned to them both and continued.
"We gotta do something right away, i don't think its normal. This is driving to a different dimension guys!" She suggested, sighing heavily.
"I thought you said it was entirely normal to have concurrent dreams for ages!" Jack reminded
"Really Lindy?" Finn questioned a little bit disappointed
"Jack, you are such a jerk right now!" She was covered in guilt. "C'monnn Finn! I didn't know it was this...this... I'm sorry ok?! We just gotta find a way somehow!" She added
"I think its about to do something awful, sorry to say. That figure, just as you described is somewhat related to the angel of death...kinda...sorta...just saying, you know!" Jack pointed out being unsure but they decided to give it a thought.
"I got no idea what this is! I'm confused as you are!" Finn said
"If its an angel of death, like i also presume then why's it after Finn? There has got to be some sorta clue, why he's hunting Finn for like...five years now. It ain't funny!" Lindsey expressed herself as well
"Five years can never be normal!" Jack teased Lindsey
"I-didn't-know!" Lindsey said defensively almost frowning
"Just kidding, chill!" Jack smirked
"Guys! Guys!! This is not some sorta joke, i am the victim, i am the hunted! Its not funny at all!" Finn reminded with a long face. "We gotta go, i got to find my Mom; she needs to know that i'm hunted...she could use that instinct thing to help out. Maybe!" Finn opted. They concurred with uncertainty.
They sneak out of the hospital without nurses or doctors noticing. They forcefully collected some balloons from two children, a girl and a boy around the age of five in exchange of 50 bucks. They strode out of the building briskly heading for a taxi.
They opted for Jack's home apartment even if they were just apartments away from his, on the same neighborhood.
Jack's father was an mechanic engineer who owned a big workshop, his mother filed a divorce when he was only 10 years old. His father had been seeing an italian lady (working as an accountant at a supermarket blocks away) whom Jack barely recognized as his mother, she was too domineering in his terms.
Finn laid on his back on the bed while Lindsey stood behind Jack who was punching the keys on the keyboard on his computer, as soon as they typed in 'a figure wearing a black cape holding a bronze sceptre' they would be redirected to another food or shopping website, nothing relating to their initial search.
"Dang it!!!" They said in unison, they felt hopeless.
"Seen anything?!" Finn asked staring at them.
"None" Jack turned to him as well as Lindsey, she sunk into the couch folding her arms at the extreme end, few steps away from the boys.
"What's next?" Lindsey asked
"I don't think there's something we can do, we got no clue not even a name or something!" Jack informed
"Finn, this is gonna be hard but i think you gotta think harder than before..." Lindsey advised, Jack agreed to it.
"I'm trying harder than you think!" Finn replied defiantly
"...you just gotta try harder, man!" Jack inquired
"Take your time though but the earlier the better for us all!" Lindsey added, she laid down on her back as well
"He's got nothing to do with y'all! Its me his after!" Finn said
"Haven't you seen horrific movies where the victims and his friends or family gets eaten when they try to help?"
"Alright, I'm scared!" Jack admitted, he was getting terrified slowly
"Just saying!" Lindsey corrected herself but Finn realized that if his friends or family got involved then that figure might just kill them.
"Ok dudes! I think i can handle this..." Finn blurred boldly
"You're kidding my ass, aren't you?" Jack said sarcastically
"I'll think harder and then, find why i get all these creepy things around me. Y'all should stay out of it!" He warned but they were defiant. "I mean...no need to search the internet, I'll think about it first...like trying to find...I'll tell you what's up!" Finn snapped
"Are you sure about this?" Lindsey asked in doubt
"I think so!" Finn said.
He was scared about anything that would come next but he had to lie about finding clues, of course he has no clue.
