Chapter4 Think!

Think!

Suddenly, the water stopped flowing which made him come off that feeling. He groaned depicting his distress, he hopped out of the shower and then tied a towel around his waist.

He managed to get dressed not forgetting to top a jacket. He tucked his phone into the bag's outer pocket and emerged out of the room.

He sat by the counter where his mother, Carmen, had prepared breakfast. She lifted her head up to meet his gaze.

He wasn't touching his food which got her overly concerned.

"Honey! You're not touching your food and that's gonna be a problem if you don't!"

"I'm trying!" He snapped, fixing his eyes on the food she's made. She scoffed and continued

"Alright! I booked an appointment with your newly hired therapist, Dr Sheila Rivera. I wanted to ask if you'd prefer the session here at the house or not?" Carmen asked politely not to provoke him because he seemed cold and different.

"Whatever you say!" He blurted out still staring at his food

"C'mon! I just need to know what's your preference for a smooth outcome, we talked about this last night, didn't we?"

"You're the one with the choices not me, remember? You're literally impossible on me, Mom!" He blurted again

"But Finn, i can't find why this should be a problem. Im after you getting much better not waking every goddamn morning to see a petrified son! I don't want that! If i have to protect the city at all cost then what about my own son?" She explained with a saddened impression on her

"I don't want you suffering either! I just don't think this is of any help, Mom!" He raised his voice

"How are you gonna know if you never tried?" She asked

"There's just got to be an explanation to why I'm the only one suffering from this Mom, don't you think? Im sick and tired of you not believing me and i can't look you in the eye no more..." He blurted angrily

"...But why? I'm your mother!" She reminded yelling as well

"I don't know, Mom, i really don't know! You might just change up again who knows!" He blurted

She was dumb stricken, lost for words still In silence. She covered her mouth with her hands not to say a word as someone interrupted the dead silence

"Finn?" Lindsey called out

His friends had entered yet they had no idea when they walked in. Lindsey and Jack ran to Ms Carmen who was already in tears, she blamed herself for not being there for him all these years and now she felt he had changed.

Lindsey hugged his mother while Finn stared at them without a word, no remorse. Jack patted Finn on the shoulder swiftly.

"Mom? I'm sorry Mo..." Finn finally broke the silence between them

"Just leave her alone!" Lindsey instructed angrily giving him a daunting look.

"That's my mother..." He countered

"Who cares!" Lindsey yelled at Finn "If she was then you wouldn't make her cry, would you ever?" Lindsey cautioned turning away. Jack dragged Finn slowly out of the apartment immediately after he had taken his bag.

"Ms Carmen are you ok?" Lindsey asked softly

"Im not sweetheart, he's been cheeky but i totally understand if he's angry at me. I placed work before him and now he had worsened!" She sobbed silently also sniffling into the air. Lindsey handed her some tissues to wipe off, Lindsey was unhappy and dismayed at Finn's exorbitance.

"I'll talk to him, Ms Carmen! He's got to understand that you're trying everything possible to see him get better, it's not easy for you too! I'll talk to him!" Lindsey assured.

"Yes sweetheart!" Carmen smiled faintly then handed her some documents that was on the counter at an extreme end and finalized

"He's got an appointment, could you make him go? He wouldn't listen to me!" Carmen stated

"Alright!" Lindsey tucked it into her bag then embraced Carmen swiftly, stormed out of the apartment.

She walked past them as Finn tried to explain things to Jack, Finn held her by the arm to restrict her movement to go any further, she was retarded.

"Let go off me!" She frowned

"C'mon Lindy! We'll explain everything in the car, we promise!" Jack pleaded since Finn's was pointless.

"I'll take a cab!" She countered walking ahead but Jack didn't let her move too.

"Please?" He added.

Jack's father had three cars so giving out one to his son was no problem especially when he used it sparingly. Lindsey sat behind while Jack and Finn at abreast, she maintained her silence all through the drive until they pulled over at the parking space.

"We have no class, dummies!" She blurted coldly

"What'd you mean, we got no class?" Jack turned to her with a smile of content

"Teachers got meeting! Check your phone!" She coaxed

They confirmed and affirmed to it, they smiled broadly except for Lindsey who was still mad at Finn. They hopped out of the car and entered the cafeteria instead since students in the same grade were all having fun. Students loved times where it was a free day off class. Finn and Jack got themselves hot dogs while Lindsey opted just lemonade. Finn's eyes were fixed on Lindsey who's eyes were on her phone's screen.

"Are you still mad at me?"

"Not really, I'm mad at your grandma!" Lindsey blurted "How could you be this disrespectful?"

"We are all disrespectful remember that!" Jack blurted too

"Just shut it, Jack! Not to our parents, like what the hell is wrong with you?"

"I was carried away! I didn't know what came over me at that time, i feel very bad already!" Finn explained

"You're nothing but a jerk you know!" Lindsey said as he tried to talk but then, changed his mind.

"Ms Carmen has been through alot lately..don't you think she's still hurt at the fact that your father died hanging?"

"Im hurt as well Lindy, you know nothing at all!" Finn defended

"Im sorry but i got to say it! Don't add up to it!"

"So what do we do right now? I don't think Finn's getting any better!" Jack added with a serious look on his face wiping off his mouth with a serviette.

"What do you mean?" Lindsey asked in slight confusion

"He was trapped last night. His wrists were clutched to the bed...a strange woman beckoning, kids crying out, woman caressing and you..." Finn didn't let Jack proceed

"That's it! That's all the details from earlier!" Finn snapped

"Am i also a part of...this?" She asked calmly looking them straight into their eyes, she figured that they were hiding something from her, she could tell.

"N..No..No! I..Er...i wanted to say that you got angry at him because he spoke rudely to his Mom!" Jack reconstructed,

Finn nodded in affirmation.

"Oh ok!" She cringed instead "Which is why you need to see the doctor Ms Carmen booked!"

"Y'all know that this is not going to help at all! I don't wanna act up funny again!" Finn countered

"If you wanna make her feel good about supporting you then you got to do this!" Lindsey inquired correctly

"Lindsey's right! Your mother wouldn't have to breakdown before us all because of you!" Jack added outrightyly. Finn was distressed already then he accepted to make his mother happier.

"You win! Let's go!" Finn said

After a 15 minute drive,

He had settled with the doctor, Sheila Rivera who sat before him with an unshaken and witty smile, the red head seemed to be doing just fine around her job. She wrote a couple of words before asking

"I'm Doctor..." She began but he didn't let her finish.

"...Sheila Rivera, my new doctor!" He said with sarcasm maintaining a straight face. She beamed trying to keep up with his youthful exorbitance.

"That's right and you are?" She inquired

"Finn! Finn Dexter!" He snapped

"Nice to meet you Finn! I'd like to ask you a few questions and within a few minutes, we're done!" She said then smiled faintly "Can you tell me about your concurrent nightmares? Just anything you remember?"

"I don't wanna talk about it!"

"Look Finn, I'm only trying to help as much as i can. Please, can we do this for a moment?" She asked politely

"I understand that you wanna help but I'm sorry Sheila, i wouldn't dare to tell you all about it!" Finn said

"But why?" Her face squeezed in slight confusion

"You can't help me, that's the reason!" Finn blurted.

"Ok! Anything you say but you could describe the figures you see in your dreams, your illusions, your thoughts....all of these could lead us to why you've been a acting differently lately...you are not Crazy but i think that you have been distressed over the years and now but we can work it out before you know it. Its nothing to be worried about!!!..." She continued speaking, line after line, word after word but he stared at a different thing while Sheila's voice turned into echoes. He could see a lady with a black cape hoisted around her shoulders holding a sword with a glistering blade that dripped thick clotted blood, the vertical scar across her left eye made her look fiercer, from the bridge of her nose downward was covered with a black linen as she killed with no mercy plunging the hearts of men until they groan in pain, cry for alms and lastly, died slowly. She turned to him abruptly.

"Finn!"

He snapped out of his thoughts instantly after someone called out his name then he realized that he had been in a sort of trance.

"Huh? Err...What did you say?" He asked yet he was lost

"Are you ok? I'll get you some water!" Sheila walked to refrigerator at the corner. He watched her closely, he didn't know why he focused on her but he did. She slowly opened the door with a smile tilting her face towards the aligned bottles of beverages, a dagger pierced through her forehead as she fell to the ground, lying lifeless. He screamed running towards her body then the door slammed.

"Finn? Dude?" Jack walked to him briskly as Lindsey followed from behind.

"Why did you scream? What's happening?" Lindsey asked

Sheila turned to him in amazement holding a bottle of water. Finn was confused at the moment.

"Sh...Sheila? Did you not die?" He asked rising up to his feet, everyone seemed surprised at his question.

"Die?" She scoffed "Your mom would arrest anyone who tries to kill me you know!" Sheila teased while Lindsey and Jack laughed "Here! Have some water!"

He accepted it without questioning, he took a sip.

"Are you sure you're ok, Doc?" Finn asked Sheila to come off his doubts.

"I should ask you, Finn!" She moved closer then he retracted "What's wrong? You suddenly fell off the seat before i could get you some water!!" She reminded

"I've got to go..." He jabbered turning to leave

"We were just getting started..." She tried to coax

"But Finn...." Lindsey interrupted persuasively

"Lets-just-go!" Finn instructed taking his bag with him. He headed with Jack next to him

"We're so sorry Doc, he's doing just great!" Lindsey added with a forceful smile as she scurried away without turning back.

They sat in the car attaining the silence. Finn tried to apprehend what must have happened earlier, if he was asked; he definitely had no idea what was going on.

Jack turned to him to finally break the silence.

"Dude! Could you...at least explain to us---to me what the hell happened in there? I'm so damn confused right now..."

"...Give him some time, Jack..." Lindsey interrupted

"...And you should as well remain silent for once, Lindy, stop interfering..."

"What do you mean Jack, I'm trying to help! Period!!" She added defensively

"...We are in the middle of this mess already and we've got to find a way 'coz right now, I'm daft...totally blank!" Jack poured out

"Don't talk to me like i don't care, of course i do! Stop interfering as well..." She warned sternly

"As well as you too!"

"I did nothing..."

"You did..."

They argued, the conversation grew more intense and Finn couldn't bear it. He held his head with both hands since their voices topped each other's while he struggled to be stable but he couldn't keep to his intentions anymore, he interrupted yelling at both of them.

"Everyone just stop!!! Stop! Stop!! Stop!!! Please!" They ceased immediately, staring at Finn strangely. "Please? I'm trying to think straight but your voices keep messing up my head...I'm thinking crazy things already." He stopped. They realized that they had been a little bit inconsiderate.

"We're sorry about that!" Lindsey apologized first

"Yeah! Bro! What happened in there, I'm still confused though!" Jack asked again

"I...I really can't tell..." Finn's words smothered but he never gave up trying to answer his curious friends who seemed concerned at the moment "...While Shelia was talking, it felt like my thoughts jumped into another. I saw a sorta vicious young lady fighting against hefty men, they cried out yet there wasn't any help coming. She's was scary!...i still don't get it.."

"Get what?" Jack asked

"If i had requested for water then what happened when she reached for the bottle? I saw a dagger pierce through her head with my very own eyes...that was when i screamed for help!" Finn explains

"Bu...But she wasn't harmed at all..." Lindsey added

"To you but not to me! I just don't understand why y'all can't see what i see, i was surprised to find her---still alive!"

"This is way tougher than i imagined guys!" Jack added

"It makes me look stupid before everyone..." Finn said as the turned to him "...But something's definitely not okay with me and I've got no why there are not!" Finn turned away disappointedly

"I've never heard of such but I've seen movies that fit into your description and that..could mean one thing!" Lindsey explained, their attention was fixed to hers.

"Which is?" Finn asked

"Maybe...you've tempered with something confidential, said something demeaning or you have got a reason to be...followed or something!..." Lindsey stated confidently

"You are ridiculous!" Jack said underneath his breath

"I heard that, jerk!" She snapped at Jack who only cringed

"Lindy! How on earth could you think that way?" Finn began while she tried to say a word, he proceeded "There are no such things like that, okay?! Whether or not i touched or said something---its simply called 'CURIOSITY'. Every folk tale you saw in those bizarre movies are undoubtedly fictitious, don't be conceited though!" Finn turned away, Jack smirked staring at Lindsey's disappointed face.

"I told you that your idea was ridiculous?!" He blurted out sarcastically but her disapproving stare pricked him. "Fine!!! You made a point there!"

"If you are not any of those things i mentioned or that are obvious then what could have gone awfully wrong that takes away your sobriety so bad?!" Lindsey added seriously

"There we go again!!!" Finn shrugged a bit "I don't know! I have to think straight first or else, i don't have a clue and i would never have a clue, got it?!"

"Finn's right! He might be over thinking some things before bed or probably seeing too much horror movies or something...but bro, i don't think something's that bad. You...You only kinda...maybe...you know...act a little extra sometimes." Jack said while Finn nodded positively to it.

"Or maybe, you are some kinda medium...who knows!" Lindsey bluntly said a bit serious

"Lindsey???" Finn and Jack called out almost yelling in unison, cautioning her invasion.

"Fine! Zipping it already!!" She rolled her eyes turning away. Jack started the engine as they sped away
