Chapter 13

Should we talk?

****

Knock! Knock!! Knock!!! Finn heard, he had been sitting wantonly on the edge of the bed and gaming as expected.

"Finn? Baby? Please open up the door!'

He heard again, but that was that last thing on his mind. He wanted his mother to be happy but then there was going to be another man which meant that they are most likely to get married or something; he thought slowly walking to the door. The door creaked open and instantly he feigned a smile.

"Were you bathing or something?!" She asked and shrugged off instantly. "Well Finn, you can just ignore it if you don't want to---"

"No Mom, I can handle it. You can't always remain single forever, somehow I can not play the role of a... husband." He stated, she stared at his warm teenage eyes with so much innocence and slight guilt. He had given her a reason to double think after all.

"Finn, look, I know its very difficult at this point in time but--"

"Maybe I said too much!" He snapped, interrupting. She placed her hand on his arm and stroked it lightly, but there were some emphasis somehow.

Although the relationship with her son wasn't too great at that time but she would not risk to upset him. Even if it were the new boyfriend in the way.

"Maybe I pressured you so much. If you're not cool then i... I could understand Finn." She calmly explained but he nodded lightly but positively.

"Its fine! Aside the force, you've got emotions too. I should understand that." He shrugged forcefully and smiled too. It didn't take too long that a hug, a tight warm hug followed from behind.

Finn insisted that his went ahead.

HW strode lazily yo the dining room and there was seated the GUY. He drew closer until he helped himself on the chair which was directly opposite the new man while Carmen sat in the middle. Dinner was served and they begun to eat, chuckling and chattering here and there. The man was somewhere around his early 40s, tall, finely shaved dark haired, good body build, just as those superhero cops in movies.

Finn had always felt the urge to punch the man to his face for the little minutes that had gone past. Especially the time when he rubbed Carmen's arm tenderly and yet swiftly. This man could have some respect, didn't get see me or something, I won't take this shit, Finn thought. Thinking, over the nicely dishes steaks, he couldn't help but get infuriated by the clingy things the man was doing.

"Take your hands off my Mom dude," Finn couldn't help but slit out. He too didn't expect how these words flew but then it did.

Now their eyes darted on Finns', confused and somewhat guiltily.

"Finn have some respect!" Carmen said

"Oh my bad young man---"

"I've got a name..." Finn snapped, as the fork in his hand dropped on the plate. Carmen was confused as well hoping that something unbearable wouldn't break out. She swallowed in anyways.

"My bad---"

"Finn. I did tell you!" Carmen told him

"Yes. Finn. My bad, I didn't mean to upset you man." He said. "I'm Gary Starr. I also work at the police department and--"

"Look none of that matters to me. Just don't piss me off. Respectfully." Finn warned then he took a sip from the juice. Carmen's phone rang as she snaked out to answer her phone. Gary studied Finn carefully, Jose first impression wasn't that good if Finn could simply get pissed, he thought.

"Okay Finn. I've heard you, I'd do well." He snapped, he took some water and chinned up once more. "I'm actually excited to meet you, finally. Your Mom had said a lot about you kid, I'm as well proud." He began

"You are not my Dad so don't be," Finn snapped, it was apparent that he didn't really this new man sitting as though he owned a special place. Or perhaps acting up like a new fucking dad. Finn couldn't help all these thoughts flooding in and out of his mind.

"I know. I wasn't trying to act like that Finn, I'm thinking that we should actually come into an understanding... You know we could start off somewhere---" Gary tried to explain, he didn't have to put so much pressure after all. Finn scoffed, chewing slowly and staring at Gary, in an askant manner.

"We've got nothing to understand SIR, why are you here anyways? What do you want from my Mom?" Finn tilted his head towards Gary as he gently moved the halfway eaten steaks to go the side. "Shouldn't I know that? Neither of us are kids though, stop beating around the bush." Finn added. Gary was challenged by Finn's words, maybe he shouldn't have thought that all kids were going to be like the same. Finn was undoubtedly different and really advanced.

"Okay. Okay." Gary said embarrassingly as he feigned a coy smile. "I.. I love your mother Finn, and I'd love to know that you agree, it's important to us. I have no kids and no wife, so i really adore your mother." Gary said truthfully

"Okay. As easy as that. Not because my Mom is in love with YOU means that I really like you, I just don't like you and I'm not finding the reasons to do so." Finn stated

"Finn---" Gary called out slowly. Carmen popped in towards them, perhaps she had been eavesdropping, Finn thought. He stood up to leave as Gary tried one last time.

"Maybe we could hang out some other time to like... get to know each other. Maybe bowling or anything you like at all---" Gary opted and Carmen nodded almost invisibly

"Not interested. Thanks!" Finn snapped as he made his way out of the dinning room. Carmen opted that ate up but he simply declined. "No appetite!"

"I really think he hates me, it's quite obvious honey," Gary said turning to her

"Finn is hard but he's only being himself. He's not always as nice as other kids..."

"I should get patient I guess..."

"It seems like you figured it out already!" Carmen smiled at him as she carefully wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed.

Finn had been looking anyways and now it only got more complicated seeing his Mom around another man. It was hard for him and yet he was failing to understand that she too, needed to move on after all.

He scurried to his room and slammed the door. He plunged into the soft bed staring into the ceiling with different images of his mother and Gary, it didn't sit too well with him. It seemed very unbearable even when he assumed that it would be great between them.

More more minutes later, Carmen told Finn that Gary was leaving but his response was simple and unlikely.

"He can fuck Mom off, thanks."
