Chapter 33: The Promotion

I woke the next morning with my arms wrapped around Ellie and my nose buried in her neck. Her soft breaths grazed my chest.

I'd come in late last night and found her tossing and turning. The moment I'd held her she'd settled down. It felt good to be needed by her. To be someone who made her feel safe and secure.

With a sigh, I got out of bed and headed for the bathroom to get ready for the day.

I had no business feeling these feelings toward Ellie. I didn't deserve them or her affection.

But I was too far gone to stop it at this point.

I got ready and left my room without staring at Ellie's sleeping form too much. It was difficult to leave her, but I had sh*t to do, and I was pretty sure she'd think I was creepy if she caught me watching her sleep.

I settled into my office and ate my breakfast while I worked on clan business. After about an hour, Lance came in and sat in the chair on the other side of my desk.
