Breaking Apart Further

"Her majesty? She is not in the palace. She had gone to attend a tea party at the palace of duchess Elmore." he stopped in his tracks and then looked at the maid whose face had softened.

She held his shoulders and then took him in her arms again.

"You are sick, my lord. You need to rest. You can always meet her majesty when she comes back." she caressed his cheeks gently when he took a deep sigh and nodded his head.

"Yes, I would wait for her to come back." he whispered softly as he leaned more into her arms and closed his eyes.

'I am sorry my lord for lying to you. But you do need some rest and time to collect your thoughts.' whispered the maid in her heart as she hugged the small child and took him back to his bed.

She continued to caress his hair and pat his back soothingly and sang a lullaby until he fell asleep again.

Once assured that the boy was resting, she closed off the light and covered him with a blanket and walked out of the room.
