Chapter-25: The Varanium Pillar Array is set & Slaying Aldebaran [2]

3rd POV | Gastrea Swarm Battlefield |
"And so, Aldebaran is gonna die" Toka said as she sat down on the ground, tired after using all of her strength.
"Hahaha" Toka chuckled slightly, a beautiful crescent formed on her cherry-blossom lips, looking cool, elegant, and graceful even with a simple act.
Now back to the ritual, Ren summoned small portals as Varanium chains with small blades in the end, latched on to Aldebaran's snail shell.
Craaaaah-!! Grooooaaah-!
"The Varanium bombs is ready!" Ren shouted as he raised his right hand. The group watched as many portals appeared inside of the top of the barrier. Countless small Varanium balls fell out.
Beep-! Beep-! Beep-! Beep-!
Red light flashed as the small balls made beeping noises, and in a brilliant display, all of them blew up.
Booom-! Booom-! Booom-!
Explosions rang out inside of the array, spraying fragmented Varanium metal everywhere. The loud roars of Aldebaran was suppressed by the explosion, it's miserable dying howls drowned out by the booms.
When the explosions finished, everyone can finally the desolate state of Aldebaran's body. There was no smoke being emitted by Aldebaran, which means that it was not regenerating anymore because pure Varanium fragments embed itself in it's flesh.
It also seemed like a bomb ended up inside of it and exploded, rendering the regeneration ability useless because they hit a weak spot.
Aldebaran's body spurted out green blood from various open wounds. Varanium was like poison to any Gastrea like the Wisteria against the Demons in Demon Slayer.
The group came in closer, but not too close, and inspected their hard work.
"It just needs one final blow, who's gonna do it?" Toka asked the rest as he looked at them.
They want to make a unanimous decision on who was gonna make the final blow until..
"Let me do it, Onii-chan!" They heard a childish voice behind their back.
Ren turned first in a hurry and saw Aoi standing just a few meters behind them while wearing a white cloak that seemed longer than most of her body. and the cloak seemed to resemble an eagle.
She also had a bizarre, azure-colored dagger hanging from a chain on her back. As the wind blew, her cloak fluttered wildly and freely like a bird.
"Aoi?! What are you doing here?!" Ren reacted strongly in confusion and concern.
"I just wanna-" Aoi was about to say something when Aldebaran roared weakly from it's position.
Aldebaran wanted to put up one last fight of desperation, it wanted to at least take 1 human down with it. A praying mantis Gastrea galloped as it jumped behind Aoi with it's sharp sickles raised overhead.
"Watch out!" Sajuna shouted as they moved.
Ren's eyes darkened as he became angry. His brain accelerated his thinking in a rush of adrenaline, because of his emotions rippling out, Verlangen was subconsciously activated and enhanced his reflexes.
Whiiishhiiing-!
Ren left behind a black shadow as he teleported in a near instantaneous rate. He appeared below the praying mantis-like Gastrea that swung, right in front of it's exposed abdomen.
Ren drew his sword in a millisecond from it's sheath in a gentle but swift iai while in a crouching position with his right leg forward and left leg back.
[«Haze of Rumbling Heavens»]—!
Booom-! Boooom-!
The sound from Ren's attack was like thunderclap, the Gastrea was split into four halves, vertically and horizontally right in it's center..
Shiiiiing-!
Aoi grabbed the the handle of the dagger and swiped up, slashing from right to left, cutting through the mantis Gatrea's carapace like butter.
Aoi's eyes dilated in shock and awe, 'Fast! Too fast!" Aoi thought.
Baaam-! Thud-!
The Gastrea fell apart like Lego, with each limb sliding off it's body smoothly and creating a heavy thud. Ren flicked his sword as he stand with his back turned to them.
Craack-! Craaack-! Craaaccccck-!
A huge crack appeared on the dao that Ren was holding. The cracks spread as the pieces split and the sword shatter. After countless times of overexerting the blade from using it and imbuing it with Verlangen, it finally shattered.
The Dao that Ren was wielding may be a fine piece of art and was of high quality, but it wasn't meant to be overloaded with magic.
Ding-!
"Aoi, what are you doing here?" Ren asked Aoi gently and calmly while turning around.
He let go of the broken Dao and it's sheath as it disappeared because it fell into his pocket space. When Ren was in front of Aoi, he knelt down to her size.
"I wanted to help you all like Himiko, Honoka, and the others.." Aoi looked down.
"Haaaah, Did you ask permission from Matsuzaki-san?" Ren knew he couldn't be hypocritical as he was fighting alongside other children.
Aoi's head flung upwards with a surprised expression that quickly turned into a huge smile. She felt relieved as she started explaining her journey.
"I uhh..kinda pestered Matsuzaki-san until he let me train with an ex-Initiator" Aoi scratched the back of her head.
She also found out that she was a Cheetah Gastrea, so she focused on her speed and agility. Her weapon of choice was a dagger attached to a chain which she can swing that creates a large radius of attack.
Also, when fighting against other people in self-defense, her cloak covers her whole body so it creates a flowy and unpredictable patterns of attack. Her cloak serves to hide her intent like the large haori of the Mist Hashira.
Her weapon was bought by the collective savings of the orphanage. From then on, her journey began, and when she found out about the Beheading Operation, she knew that Ren and the others would take the mission.
"And I followed your tracks and found you" Aoi ended her story.
"That was a very dangerous journey, but I'm glad you became strong enough" Toka said as she reprimanded and praised her at the same time. She knew that by becoming strong, she would be able to protect herself.
"That was very commendable of you degozaru" Ichika said with respect.
"Welcome to the team, Aoi!" Honoka cheerfully said.
"Welcome!" Himiko clapped her hands in applause together with Akari who just said nothing and clapped with her.
The other came closer to her and started welcoming her. She started getting shy and hiding her hands behind her back while smiling.
"Well then, as a welcoming gift, we should give her the final blow to Aldebaran then" Sajuna decided.
"Yeah, we need a gift" Kanesada agreed with her as does Toka and the other little ones.
"Since everyone has decided, we'll give you the final blow to a Level 4 Gastrea as a welcoming gift" Ren lead her in front of the dying Gastrea.
As everyone watched, Aoi raised her glistening, azure-blue dagger up in the air and--
Swiiish-! Chiii-!
She stabbed her dagger at the forehead of Aldebaran deep as it's green blood spurted out, dictating the end of the terror of Aldebaran..
"Nice work everyone, now we gotta cut this guy up for collection" Ren said as he pulled his sleeves to his elbow and grabbed a random Varanium knife from his pocket space.
