3rd POV | Ladder of Heaven | Bottom Floor Elevator |
"Thank God the elevators still works, it would've been a pain in the ass" Toka said as she pushed the floor buttons, she pushed the button for the very top floor which was 9.
"That's right degozaru, We would have needed to climb through endless levels through the ladders degozaru" Ichika also sighed in relief, she also didn't want to go up the stairs for hours even though she had an enhanced physique, being an Initiator and all that.
"That's ironic, the name of this structure is the Ladder of Heaven, so ladders is the main theme here" Toka made a joke as everybody in the elevator just looked at her.
"Hwat?"
"I also don't wanna go" Akara monotonously chimed in a burst of social motivation that soon died out immediately.
While the group was talking casually, the elevator dinged as it eventually reached the top floor, which was the control room of the Ladder of Heaven. When the elevator doors opened, they were greeted with a black-haired man pointing a pistol at them and an Initiator at an attack-ready stance.
"We mean no harm, you're Satomi Rentaro, correct?" Kanesada came forward with his raised hands, signifying peaceful intentions.
"Aren't you all the members of Cassell Agency? What are you all doing here?" Rentaro said as he lowered his gun but still maintained his guard, he just had a life-and-death encounter so he was kinda wary of strangers.
"We were sent here to help you activate and protect the Ladder of Heaven, and we also contacted your boss, Tendo Kisara and reached a cooperation" Kanesada explained eloquently to him.
"Rentaro! Will you trust them?" Enju leaned over to Rentaro and whispered.
"We have no choice, We can't do this by ourselves..." Rentaro said as he holstered his gun.
Kanesada reached his right hand over, asking for a handshake as Rentaro accepted.
"Glad to be working with you, so our plan was to defend you while you were controlling the railgun and also guide and give you the perfect chance to aim and get the perfect shot on Scorpio" Kanesada explained the plan to the both of them
"The only problem is..we don't have the right ammunition to fire this thing" Kanesada said as he looked over to the controls and the screen that shows a crosshair pointing at Scorpio's abyssal body.
"Yeah, that was our problem too" Rentaro explained how when they arrived, they prepared to shoot, but there was no ammunition in the storehouse.
"What do we do? Even if we have the Varanium, the blueprints to build the specific ammo for the railgun was lost in the war" Toka analyzed the problem.
This was a very urgent dilemma, if they couldn't find an ammunition for the railgun, the Level 5 Gastrea that's wreaking havoc could eventually turn the whole Japan into ruins and possibly even to other countries too as Japan was the only one that created the Ladder of Heaven.
The Ladder of Heaven was created to be a superweapon project and was planned to be put in the moon to snipe Gastrea from space, and also to threaten other countries to finally make Japan into a world superpower, but it was not finished and has a ton of flaws like the EMP emanating from the super magnets that prevents communications and disabled it to be controlled autonomously from outside.
"Damn it, I guess I have no choice" Rentaro muttered under his breath, Enju heard it and asked what he said.
Renataro didn't say anything as he tore up the synthetic skin that was hiding his Varanium prosthetic arm, he also tore off his arm from it's strong magnetic connector while some tubes were forcefully disconnected.
"Urk! Will this be big enough to use as a bullet?" Rentaro groaned in pain as the others watched with shock, especially Enju, who was the most surprised.
"Re-Rentaro! Are you okay?!" Enju shouted as she hugged his waist.
"Don't worry about me, now is this big enough?" Kanesada felt impressed by his sheer tenacity and will, ignoring great pains.
"Yes, that fits enough to use as a bullet" Kanesada said as he took the arm.
"I made a promise..I want to be the one who takes a shot at that bastard" Rentaro made a request.
"Alright, Toka, let's go load this up" Kanesada said as he nodded to Toka who followed him into the loading chamber.
When Toka and Kanesada arrived at the loading chamber, they saw a huge cylindrical object in the middle that was open and had something like a container in it.
"So we need to put that there huh? Since the Ladder to that is broken we need another way to reach that, and I already thought of a plan" Toka confidently said as she disclosed her plan to reach the container in the middle.
Their plan was for Toka to stand in Kanesada's hands and then get thrown over to the container, she has enough trust of his strength. So here she is now, standing in his hands counting down.
"Don't you dare miss, if I hit my head there, I'm gonna kill you" Toka said coldly as she counted down.
"3....2...1! Hupp!" Toka was thrown in the air as she put Rentaro's Varanium arm into the container like a dunk as she landed back down in a hero pose.
"Whew! That's over with" Toka walked back to the control room.
"Sasuga..as expected of Takahashi-san" Kanesada sweatdropped at the amazing display of dexterity and agility without breaking a sweat.
Toka and Kanesada walked back casually, "It's done, you jut have to aim and get the perfect shot"
'That was fast' Rentaro thought with a passing glance as he focused back at the aiming console.
'Now, I just need the right timing' Rentaro fiddled with the joysticks with his remaining arm, aiming the crosshair at the center mass of Scorpio, he didn't want to miss as there was only one shot to save the world.
"Rentaro, let me see too!" Enju snuggled up to his lap as she watched the aiming console.
"Hey...didn't you say your leader will find a way to stall Scorpio..so what the hell are those stone giants?!"
