CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT
When Adrianna arrived at the gate, Damien was already waiting for her.
He was standing at the gate showing a casual and callous indifference to everything. Like he couldn't care less even if the world cease to exist.
But even then, Adrianna was mesmerized by his presence and otherworldy beauty. She is even more attracted by his devil may care attitude.
For her, Damien is like a delightful sin. A sin she is more than willing to lose and drown herself into.
When Damien walked towards her, Adrianna can see his stone cold face slightly melting. Like the sun has finally made a breakthrough and has at last penetrated his impeccable coldness. Even if it's just a small margin.
Feeling Damien's soft eyes on her, Adrianna's eyes ignited with good humor.
The moment Damien was in front of her, he immediately held her head with the gentlest of touch and kissed her eyebrow. Then he smoothly took her bag, looped it over on his shoulder, then held her hand.
Adrianna was astounded by how fluidly Damien performed these series of actions. His moves were all casual, easy and natural. Like he is used to doing it for years like clockwork!
What does that mean? Adrianna looked at Damien warily. Possible issues might spring up. Should she tread with caution?
Damien, after all, is one hell of a package! He has the capital to make women go wild! And all he has to do is simply breathe.
Damien glanced at Adrianna. He is baffled seeing her weird expression.
He raised a brow in question.
"Have you ever fetched anyone before?" Came the cold, stinging tone.
As if she is gearing herself to lunge and bite him if he dares answer the question wrong.
Damien's hair stood up inexplicably. Sensing...danger?
Before Damien could open his mouth to answer, Adrianna waved her free hand in sudden irritation.
"Never mind that question. I want you to know, I don't like others coveting what's mine." She expressed with great vehemence.
Damien looked at Adrianna, confused. He doesn't understand what happened or what he did to ruse her feathers.
"I will not share you with anyone." And the lioness declared her territorial nature with full savagery and fierce aggressiveness.
Damien doesn't really understand the sudden turn of events or on how things came to be, but he totally dig her.
And he wouldn't want it any other way.
Damien chuckled.
He tilted Adrianna's head to the side and kissed her side temple with eyes full of affection.
"There will be no one else for me. There is only you." Damien vowed solemnly.
Pacified, Adrianna's face beamed with satisfaction. Her eyes shining with pleasure.
They walked in companionable silence but when Damien led her to a very secluded part with huge trees, Adrianna gave Damien a glance.
"I haven't asked someone to clean the house yet."
"I'll help you." Adrianna raised her hand and directly offered her services.
Damien chuckled, amused by Adrianna's eagerness.
"No need. Let's go to the Quarter."
Adrianna looked at Damien then she burst out laughing! She laughed as she patted Damien's shoulder.
"I like you!" Adrianna announced while still laughing hysterically.
"I like you too." Damien instantly answered with a straight face.
Adrianna laughed even harder and hugged Damien's waist as she muffled her laughter on his chest.
Damien was baffled by Adrianna's sudden laughter. But his response is a resigned shrug of his shoulders and clear indulgence on his face.
When Adrianna was able to get over her laughter, she wiped her tears and pulled Damien's hand.
"Let's go clean up your place. Cleaning up your house is much faster than going to New Orleans." Adrianna giggled.
"Baby, really." Damien finally realized why his mate laughed so hard earlier.
She thought he was joking. Damien thought.
Knowing his mate took him as a joke, he was neither impatient nor offended.
But if it was someone else, their head's would have rolled to the ground even before a laugh could escape from their lips.
He doesn't tolerate impertinence of any kind and any form.
But his mate, Damien sighed. He is slowly accepting the truth that he is no opponent to this woman. All he can do is just reconcile himself to his fate.
This woman is his Achilles' heel.
Seeing Damien's unchanging stoic face, Adrianna's smile slipped.
"Are you serious?"
"uhm."
Damien hugged Adrianna's waist with both his hands and kissed her on the eyebrow.
"Close your eyes."
Understanding dawned on Adrianna's face. She closed her eyes as she wrapped her arms around Damien's neck and laid her head on his chest.
