MUSIC BOX 2

CHAPTER FORTY

.

Damien felt Adrianna's body stiffened as if she is preparing herself from the worse. His body also reacted. But not by what Taylor said. His body reacted in response to Adrianna's reaction.

"uhm." Was Damien's emotionless response to Taylor's statement.

Taylor really wants to pull her hair and shout to the heavens and lament her fate.

How can she have such a dispassionate Master?

He clearly did nothing, not even saying anything, but she is about to go mad and vomit all her blood! Her Master's disregard is more lethal than any deady spells!

With no one to vent her frustrations, she threw a deathly glare at Luca in front of her.

Luca scowled at her, darkness clouding his face. He swiftly stood from his kneeling position in front of Taylor and glanced at Damien ---who was cuddling a woman.

Damien glanced at Luca.

Luca faintly nodded at Damien and silently walked out of the room ---with his bloodied shirt in his hand.

Taylor absent mindedly looked at Luca's disappearing back. Her face is torn with indecision with half her body leaning towards him and the other half sitting still. As if she is about to run after him but her ass is stuck on the couch.

She closed her eyes and cleared her throat. She faced Damien and Adrianna instead and tried to concentrate on what's before her.

"The music box is enshrouded by two different spells. One is faint. I don't know what it is yet. But the other one is the melody itself. The spell says 'gush forth what has been withheld; set at birth shall be kept upheld.' Basically, it's a spell of undoing. Unraveling whatever spell that has been imposed on Adrianna."

"Whoever made the spell must be a genious. He cleverly and originally devised a spell well suited to its purpose. A spell sugar coated with the melody. It must be a master witch." Taylor added in a silent whisper. Her voice full of awe.

"Could it be the one who made the spell is using ultra high frequency? All I can hear is just the music." Adrianna muttered.

Damien smiled at Adrianna. "The music you hear is within a frequency range most normal beings can hear while the spell is using ultrasonic vocalization, which is beyond normal hearing."

"I can faintly feel the spell palpitating on the music box. I first suspected the spell to be inscribed on the physical box itself. And honestly, my first thought is to break it apart and check every parts. If not for Master detecting it, I for one, won't be able to hear anything suspicious about the music." Taylor nodded enthusiastically. Even though her Master is unreliable when it comes to EQ, he is thankfully quite reliable where its needed.

"So the melody is unraveling the spell casted on me when I was young." Adrianna stared vacantly at the fireplace opposite her. "Taylor, can you tell me the consequences if the spell is unable to fully complete its unraveling?"

Taylor smiled. She is completely in her element.

"Because the spell has to undergo a medium, which is the music box, its potency is somewhat lessened. It would take more or less a month for the spell to take effect. It depends on the extensiveness of the ability that was suppressed. The physical changes will follow once your full capability is unleashed." Taylor started.

"As for the consequences, I guess it would either be madness or....death." Taylor whispered. For fear Adrianna would be frightened.

Adrianna unconsciously clenched her hands on Damien's shirt. Her eyes burning with fire.

Taylor gasped. Surprised by Adrianna's intense reaction. Adrianna looks like a rabid lioness who is about to rip her head off!

"If...if you listen to the music everyday, there shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure Master will know when you fully awaken." Taylor immediately pacified.

Her Master is as indifferent as a block of wood but her Mistress is like a firecracker?! How did this two come to be?!

When Taylor saw Damien stand up carrying Adrianna in his arms, she panicked.

"Aah..Adi..." Taylor hesitated.

Damien eyes is slit into lines, sparing her a chilly look.

Taylor felt herself bathed in ice. Her knees are trembling, knocking at each other. It took half her life just to gather the courage to make her request.

"Can you leave the music box? I need to study the other spell?" Taylor murmured.

Damien looked down at the Adrianna whose face is buried on his neck.

"I will come get it tomorrow at this time."

Damien walked to the study table, took Adrianna's backpack and disappeared without a trace.

Taylor was left staring at the space they left. When she was about to turn around and leave, she screamed the ceiling down.

"Marius! You were here all along?!"
