Chapter 70.2

The continent was in chaos. The sand ghosts had come out in full force, and there was almost no place of peace.

At the junction of several city-states near the northern ice sheet, corpses that had been eroded into sand piles littered the ground. The sand ghosts had attacked without warning, and the defenders were caught off guard. They were slaughtered to the last man.

______

In the dense forest area of Andorha, people who had been bewitched to travel long distances towards the south coast woke up halfway.

They were surrounded by sand ghosts before they even had a chance to figure out what was going on. The sand ghosts quickly overwhelmed them, and the people were soon reduced to sand piles.

The sand ghosts were a fearsome enemy. They were relentless and cunning, and they seemed to be everywhere. The people of the continent were terrified, and they did not know what to do.

______

The most tragic of all was the Northern Emerald Country. The sand ghosts there did not invade from the outside, but rather dispersed from within, and their source was in the palace of the king city.

Emperor Sapir, who had been bedridden for a long time, finally appeared, but the people could barely recognize him, including the group of palace guards he led.

The once-old Sapir had become tall and muscular. His figure was almost more youthful than that of his youngest son, Bert, who was in his prime. However, his face was as stiff and dry as bark.

Moreover, his skin was a sandy yellow, covered in fine spots. Up close, it looked terrible and disgusting, as if sand had been poured into his skin to fill in the contours of his muscles.

But the skin was full and transparent, revealing the texture of the gravel within.

The matter had come to this point, and the people of the Northern Emerald Country finally began to suspect the truth behind Sapir's transformation.

The aging emperor was consumed by his greed for power and his longing for his former strength. He had transformed himself into a creature that was neither human nor ghost.

It was no wonder that he had claimed to be sick and bedridden for so long, and no wonder that he had been so reluctant to go to the Golden Lion Kingdom to ask for holy water.

How could a creature such as himself be cleansed by holy water?

By the time the people realized what was happening, they were already surrounded by Sapir's guards and a large number of sand ghosts.

Sapir's voice had become exactly the same as that of a sand ghost. It was hoarse and raspy, like a poisonous snake hissing. His tone was also trance-like and delirious.

"Not one less...I heard the oracle...not one less..." he said.

After speaking, he knelt down on the spot, facing the south direction. His piety was wrapped in madness.

_______

On the Folia Mountain Road, one was so exhausted that could no longer lift their arms. Mi Ao collapsed onto his back, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

______

The roars and whistles of the giant beastmen had faded away, and the echoes were now few and far between. Most of the adult giant beastmen had been lost in battle.

The whistling sand ghosts rushed forward, and the ground began to crack open. Green branches sprouted from the cracks, and heavy snow fell over the entire continent. It was as if the gods were weeping for the people of the continent.

In the underground temple, Kevin nailed Melo's heart to a wooden stake. His face was cold and expressionless, but his eyes burned with fury.

"These arrows are for those old friends whose hearts you pierced," he said.

"The god of thunderstorms, the god of love, the god of mountains, and the god of flowers. I wish you no fear of wind and rain, no love from others, and no road full of flowers. You must have forgotten all of these."

Melo's eyes widened as he realized what Kevin was doing.

The godhead of Thunderstorm flowed out of Melo's heart and into Kevin's body. Kevin did not flinch, for he was already a god himself, and the power of one more thunderstorm god was nothing to him.

He raised his hand, and the power of the thunderstorm god coursed through his veins.

He could feel the pain of the people on land, and he could see the chaos of the battle flashing before his eyes. His face grew cold with determination.

The sea wind that the whole Jingdao was relying on roared to life.

Black clouds gathered on the mainland instantly, and purple-white lightning struck straight down from the sky. Thunder burst, and the moment the clouds rolled in, torrential rain poured down.

The sand ghost who was about to touch the little lion was shocked and suddenly screamed.

They could indeed withstand humidity, fog, and light rain, but when they encountered this kind of violent storm that vowed to submerge the entire continent, they had to run away with their heads in their arms.

This was their biggest nemesis!

Mi Ao lay on the mountain road, squinting his eyes as the rain pelted down on him. He was soaked to the bone, but he couldn't help but laugh as he watched the sand ghosts wail in the rain.

They had been caught off guard by the storm, and their plans had been foiled.

Mi Ao was alive, and he could still laugh. But he knew that there were many of his brothers who could no longer laugh. They had been killed in battle, and their deaths would not be forgotten.

At the edge of Bass Valley, Ben looked around in disbelief. The sand ghosts had been completely wiped out by the heavy rain. He panted heavily, still trying to process what had just happened. The battle had been so intense, and now it was over.

Ben stood up and started to walk away. He didn't know where he was going, but he knew that he had to keep moving.

Shaw lay on his side on the ground, his two front paws gone, his body mottled, and bones even seen in many places.

Dan was bald with half of his feathers, and there was almost only a skeleton left on one side of the wing, which was still an incomplete skeleton, scattered on the ground.

They watched the sand fall from them.

For a moment, he felt a strange sense of unease. The sand ghosts he encountered this time were not quite the same as the ones that melted when he touched them.

Some people were unceremoniously turned into sand piles by them, while others were turned into sand very slowly, as if the sand ghosts deliberately left them half alive for some reason.

However, when he saw Shaw and Dan and the many ferocious beasts lying on the ground, he couldn't care about these anymore.

His heart was filled with grief and anger. He knew that they had been afflicted by the sand ghosts.

The skinny juvenile lion let out a hoarse roar that was almost drowned out by the thunder and rainstorm. His voice was filled with anger and sadness.
