The Bible one

Alice's mind was brought back to reality as that single sentence resonated in her ears."Do you believe in the Bible and the Lord you serve" or so she had said.

There was no way, absolutely no way in the world had she heard that right. The person speaking to her now should be the last person on Earth to question her faith and yet somehow, she did.

She lifted her gaze dumfoundedly to the one whose mouth those words were uttered.

Of all people it had to be her who'd mentioned that word. Did she even deserve to think of that word let alone say it? If only... If only she knew the impression Alice had of her in her mind right now.

A Harlot! This woman supposedly known to be Nate's mother created the impression of a Harlot in her mind. Who could blame her for thinking that way? Anyone who viewed the appearance of this woman would surely get the same idea. She looked so rugged with the multiple piercings on her ears and nose, the long artificial lashes that fluttered her cheeks, the multiple tattoos drawn on her body, one of which was the scorpion like tattoo drawn right below the hollow of her nape and of course the multiple jewellery she'd put on. They were a variety of earrings, anklets, rings and a couple of other ornaments all of which Alice wasn't interested in.

"The Bible." She repeated through muttered voice. Her voice as husky as ever drained from the multiple amounts of tears she's shed so far.

"I don't like repeating myself! I ask again; Do you believe in the Bible and what it entails?" She questioned seemingly annoyed by Alice's long drawn silence.

"Yes." She'd finally managed to say through strained voice.

"Good! You are going to take an oath using the Bible and everyone present here will be your witness."

She stood and walked in through the hallway into a run which supposedly should be Nate's room considering the fact that the Bible she'd come along with belonged to Nate.

...

Alice lowered her gaze to the book which was now in her hands."The book of the Lord" was the thought which came to her mind. She lifted her gaze and suddenly felt exasperated.

Why should she be the one to take an oath when she's done nothing wrong! It wasn't as of everything that happened was her fault, it was all a set-up. A conspiracy hatched by Nate so why should she be the one to suffer?

She felt a sudden urge to dispose off the book or at least set it on fire in their presence to assure them she meant business and wasn't kidding around with anyone but as always, She'd always been a rational and sensible person who won't dare take such drastic steps as long as her sanity remained in check.

Reminded of the fact that the book she'd held in her hands wasn't just any ordinary book but one which contains the word and instructions of God, she swiftly drifted back to the past where she'd clearly been told what the acronym BIBLE meant. And ever since that day she'd never joked with it.

"Basic instructions before leaving earth" or so she'd been told. Reminiscing past memories, her gaze subconsciously fleeted to the spot where he'd been kneeling. It has become quite a habit of hers now, one of which she desperately needed to put to an end.

She shook her head, erasing all thoughts of him from her mind.

Why should she bother about him? Had he bothered about her when he decided to hatch a conspiracy against her?

He had chosen this path so he would tread on it alone. As it is, all efforts she's made to help him and bring him back to the right path had proven futile and had gotten her no where this far. Except... Except for the fact that she now sat here being questioned by his excuse of a mother.

It probably would be best for herself and everyone else if she just let him be. That way she'd be spared of unnecessary worry and troubles.
