We need to talk

"He says I am the one," I repeated Dani's words.

"That is completely ridiculous," I glared at her. "How do you know any of this?" I questioned.

"Because I was there… I mean.. I slept with Jason," Dani said, raising the palms of her hands. "Dean walked in- half naked," she said and grinned. "And Christal asked him where he was. He did not waver to say that he had spent the night with you," Dani cheered.

"Oh my Lord. No." I shrieked. "I told him that I wanted to keep this on the low," I sighed. "Well that seems to be a really hard thing to do, when one could manage to pursuade the board, so that they granted you two houses on the property."

"The board?" I frowned. That did not seem right. The contract said that it was completely his property, and now mine. I would have to look into that.

"Plus there was something about his father, and that Christal seemed to think he would never approve of your relationship," Dani said toning down her words.

"I could actually understand that," I said in all honesty. "You do?" Dani frowned. "Well… yes."

"So you find yourself unworthy of him?" Dani asked full of disgust. I came to sit down next to her on the couch. "Unworthy is a very big word," I said trying to straighten my thoughts. "But I would not advice my sons to find a girlfriend who is for one, almost ten years older, second, had already been married problematically and third; has children." That was the truth.

Dani shook her head disapprovingly. "Why?" she shrugged. "Because it complicates the heck out of things. I mean… I have said that to Dean as well," I tried to explain.

"You have said to Dean that you think it is better if you are not together?" Dani spat fire at me. "Oh come.. I am not THAT selfish," I snapped at her.

"Melissa, you might not see it that way, but what you are saying right now is really selfish," she glared at me. "What about his feelings?" she shook her head. "I have heard that he has been in love with you for the past two years. TWO years!" she said really loudly!

"Shhh…" I hissed at Dani, afraid that the boys would wake up. "I ahm.. he said something like that," I frowned. It seemed unlikely though, the way he was always cold as ice.

"I don't know how we could of missed that, but is seems that it has been common knowledge as well," Dani half-smiled. I placed my hands before my eyes, feeling a little uncomfortable discussing this.

We heard noise upstairs. "Darn you, Dani," I muttered. "Good morning little Edan," Dani said as she waited for my youngest at the bottom of the stairs.

"Aunty Daniiiii," he cheered, wearing his micky mouse ears. "Oh hey Mickey," she said as she touched his mouse ears. "Where is my little buddy Edan?" she questioned playfully.

"He is still sleeping, aunty," Edan played along. "I am hungry," we heard Zion say, coming down the stairs as well.

The cook approached us. "little masters Zion and Edan," she said as she leveled herself to them, "How do you do," she asked them. "I am not Edan," the youngest said. "I am Mickey," he cheered. "Right aunty!" he said looking at Dani.

"Indeed Martha, that is absolutely right," smiled Dani. "Well, Mickey and Zion, I have made breakfast for you all," she said and guided us towards the table.

We ate until we could no longer do so. My mother walked in and said; "yes, your house is much larger." Dani looked at me, and raised an eyebrow.

"Hey mom, have you eaten yet?" I asked her. "Martha has made us pancakes," I told my mother. "I should have known that you would have agreed with the cook," she said not hiding that she did not agree.

I ignored her. I had not agreed with Martha, she just showed up. Still, I did not want to give into her tantrums right now. "How do you like your house?" Dani questioned.

"It's fine," My mother answered like it was nothing. "Where is that Dean of yours?" My mother shot. "He is not my Dean and I do not know where he is," I said.

Dani glanced at my mother and then at me. "He is at the fraternity," she offered, trying to ease the situation.

"I like Dean," Zion said. "Did you know that he gave me a very awesome room aunty," Zion said matter of factly and looked at my mother as well. "I do not trust him," my mother went on speaking. "He is hiding something from us, something big and I can feel just that," she said and did not waver.

I got what she meant… I also had this disturbing feeling that I did not know the whole truth. He was rich, and I never knew that about him before. He was not telling everyone that the fraternity, and the whole entire property was not of the board, but his. Why would he hide something like that? My mother was right, something was off... but what was it?

The housekeeper cleaned the table and my mother announced that she would stay at her place today. She wanted to take the kids, as well and it seemed that Dean had also made sure there was a playroom at her house as well.

The kids were thrilled to check it out, and so I was alone with Dani again. "Let's watch a chick flick together," suggested Dani. "Sure," I agreed. "I'll need to go to the mainbuilding first," Dani said making a face.

I studied her face, she seemed in love. "You are going to see Jason," I guessed. She winked at me. "I'll be back in a few," Dani announced.

And then I was all alone. I glanced at the ceiling, which was prettily decorated by flowers. I closed my eyes for a while, when I suddenly felt Dean's lips on mine.

"Dean," I said in shock. How could I have not heard him come in? My heart hammered against my chest. His kiss was sweet, but faint and I longed for the fire that was between us.

"We need to talk darling," Dean started to say.
