Konoha

When Yuki exited the small orphanage she was in, she finally realized something was very, very wrong. The place she was in had a strange feel to it. A mix of old architecture with semi modern conveniences. Yuki was having a hard time wrapping her head around all of this. She had always grown up in megacities. Her world, as far as she knew it was nothing but large cities. But here she was in a place that was far from being anything close to being a megacity. There were lots of smaller, shorter buildings but besides that, there were many trees as well. And off in the distance, she could see a large cliff with a bunch of faces carved into it.

Right now, Yuki's mind was spinning. She did not know what was going on. She did not understand where she was anymore. "Umm…." Yuki looked up at the man walking slowly next to her. She hoped that this man who was supposed to help her grow stronger and control this power within her would give her some information that she so desired.

"Hmmm? If you have questions, just ask away." Jiraiya looked down at the small girl walking at his side. He was walking at a snail's pace because the little girl's legs were too short to go too fast.

"Ummm…" Yuki tried to put her thoughts into words as she looked up at Jiraiya. "It may seem weird, but where am I?"

"Hmmm?" Jiraiya really felt something was off with the little girl's words, but maybe growing up in the orphanage this entire time and being scorned by the others has kept her from learning much of anything. With this thought in mind, he decided not to think too much about it and answer her question. "You are in the Land of Fire and in the shinobi village of Konoha."

Jiraiya smiled at Yuki and knelt down, picked her up, and placed her on his shoulder. He then pointed toward the red painted building with a circular structure near the cliff with the faces. "That there is where the Hokage lives. This entire village is a shinobi village, and one day you too will become a shinobi. If you wish to grow strong, you must first learn to control your power. Once you learn how to control it, you will one day be able to become a jonin. While I will begin teaching you how to do things like control the chakra inside your body, you will still need to go to the academy in the next year. I figured I would let you go when that other brat goes."

Yuki had no idea who this other brat was, but there was one person who came to mind. The young boy with blonde hair that called her a monster. She remembered that Jiraiya had said his name…. "You mean… Naru…. Narupoo? No, err…"

"Haha! Narupoo! I like it! Hehe, just wait until the brat hears this one. I bet he will make all kinds of strange faces! Teach him to open his mouth. Haha!" Jiraiya was now very happy due to Yuki's slip up on Naruto's name.

Yuki blushed hearing Jiraiya shouting like this. She couldn't remember the kid's name correctly. What was she supposed to do? But now, she wondered if she somehow made an enemy. She could only sigh. She, herself, has no idea how old she was but thinking of the kids' ages in the orphanage, she should be around three to five years of age. She wondered just what kind of school the academy was.

But from what Yuki understood, she did not seem to be anywhere near home. Never mind home, she no longer felt she was even on her own planet. She had gone to school and had done well in geography, so she knew there was no place called Land of Fire. Never mind a place called Konoha.

With a slight sigh, Yuki had a feeling she would never see her elder sister again. She hoped that her elder sister would not think it was her fault for what had happened to her. 'Nee-san…. Yuki will keep a calm mind, just like how you always told me. If this truly is not the world I lived in with you, then I will be sure to grow strong, so I can take care of myself, so you will not worry. And maybe… Maybe one day I will be able to meet you again….'

Yuki did not know if her wish to see her elder sister would ever come true or not, but she did know that she would do what she could to grow stronger and hope that maybe one day she could return to her sister's side and tell her she is fine. "Ow!"

Yuki held her head and looked at Jiraiya who was smiling back at her, his fingers in a forehead clicking position. "You're so small but so lost in thought. What is the point of being so serious at your age?"

In truth, Jiraiya found Yuki's expression unlike a normal kid's. It gave her too much of a mature air even though she was only four years old. "We will go see the Hokage first before I take you to your new home."

Yuki suddenly felt nervous. While Jiraiya did not go into detail, she could feel that this Hokage person was someone of great importance. She just hoped that she did not make any mistakes and get herself into trouble.

One thing that Yuki noticed as she walked the streets with Jiraiya was that not a single car could be seen. She felt that even though the buildings were an older looking architecture that they would at least have some form of transportation. What she did not notice was that as she and Jiraiya continued forward that many people had passed by her at speeds faster than her eye could see, that the world of shinobi had no use for things like cars as they would only slow them down.
