"Ugrrhh, what a dream." I said as I rubbed my eyes. "Geez, why is it so bright? Did I leave the lamp on again?" I reached out to the place where my lamp would usually be. I landed my hands on something warm, which I thought to be the skirt of the lamp. Then something in my brain registered the feeling more properly.
"F**k!" I yelled out. My eyes opened widely at the sight, "I'm still here? Wasn't this just a dream?" I sat on my spot dazed at the situation. I was still in the cold, yet warm hole that I made to stay the night in. I fell asleep thinking I'd be back from the real world, but things took a sudden turn and I'm here again.
"No way," I said in realization, "Did I get reincarnated here or something? I think that's the only way of this being possible." I thought.
"Not only did I not wake up when feeling pain. I had spend at least more than 24 hours in this 'dream'." Contemplating the possibilities, I decided that this was definitely the case. I felt a sudden excitement, as joy took over my whole body. I couldn't jump in happiness, due to the small space. Hence I could only clench my fist in my moment of euphoria.
After calming down, I took back the torch and climbed back up to the surface. The hole wasn't that big, only a 2x2 so I was able to climb out easily. The only difficult thing there was axing while laying down. So it did take some time to break open the plank.
After I climbed out, I was met with the sight of the blocky world once more. The view wasn't much, it was just hills rolling everywhere, some exposing the rocks underneath them. There were also some occasional trees and creatures, but nothing much aside from that.
I continued on towards the valley that I saw. On the way I gathered some coal, stone, and wood for my build. Usually, I would go straight to mining underground so I can get iron. Though I didn't do it this time and just opted to explore the world? Who would've thought that I would be reincarnated in a Minecraft world? Thought I can't be too sure yet.
Along the way, I upgraded my equipment to stone. I got myself a stone sword now, so if I were to come across any animal. I could kill it better. Compared to the wooden sword, the stoned sword looked much more sharper around the edges and it was also a lot heavier. Fortunately, I had my inventory. Else I would get extremely tired carrying all the items that I had.
Finally after some time, I made it at the last hill before the valley. I could see the large mountains and cliffs on all it's sides, as well as the forests and grassland that made it up. My mouth gaped at the scenery, compared to the chaotic essence of a city, this was truly a treasure for the eyes.
Oink! Oink!
Suddenly I heard a familiar noise. It was the sound of porkchops, I looked around to find it's source. Lo and behold, at the base of the hill stood a lone pig. It was digging on some roots of a bush, gnawing on it.
Slowly, not wanting to startle it, I descended down the hill. I had snuck until the distance between me and the pork- I mean pig, was around 15 meters. When I suddenly stepped on an inconvenient twig.
Snap!
The pig jerked it's head up looking at my direction. Thinking that this little hunt had been a failure I drooped my shoulders and sighed. This gave away my position even more, however, to my surprise the pig had only looked at me for a couple seconds and went back to digging and eating the roots.
"How strange," I said. Then again, many creatures in Minecraft. Especially the harmless ones, would generally ignore the player. The only times when they would react is when a player hurts them. Thinking of this, I decided to test it out by running quickly towards the pig.
And as expected. The pig had not moved an inch, I came even closer to it and started petting it. It was surprisingly clean, in fact, the fur of the pig was still rather moist. This lead me to believe that it might've taken a bath? Although I don't understand much about animals to know their sanitary behaviors.
"Boo!" I then, for some reason, decided to give it a slight push and scare it. However the pig only gave me an unamused expression. "Maybe it's only special for this type of piggy?" I thought.
I took out one of the apples from my inventory. The large fruit appeared on my hand, I then waved at the pig's eyes. Seeing the juicy apple, it oinked and looked at me. I could see from it's eyes that it was saying "Can I please have it?". I chuckled at the cute fella and tossed it the apple. With a huge bite, it crunched on the apple in one go.
I gave it some more petting as it chewed the apple. After swallowing it, the pig rubbed itself on me. Surprised by this, I jumped a little bit. The pig however, didn't seem to care and rubbed even more.
"Okay, Okay." I gave in, it seemed to have wanted another one. I took out another apple and fed it, it happily ate the fruit. Feeling it's soft fur, I had the urge to scratch it. I used to do this when I had a dog, and it really liked it. I don't really know if the pig would like it though, well, although I called it pig it was actually still a wild boar. I'm just used to calling them pigs.
When I started to scratch it's fur with my hands, it oinked happily as it fell onto the ground. It lay on it's side exposing it's stomach. To which I laughed at and continued to scratch it, well, it seemed that no body really hates scratching. After I had my fun, I stood up, petting the large creature once more.
"Well, looks like I have to go now." I told it, "Maybe I'll see you around."
Sensing me leave, the pig actually stood up and followed me. It rubbed it's body on my legs and oinked, as if asking me where I was going.
"Sorry buddy, but I have to go. I need to set up base before it gets too dark." I tried to shoo it away but it followed me. Seeing that it didn't want to give up, and let it follow me. Maybe having a companion wouldn't be too bad now would it?
As the two of us made our way through the thicket, I looked out for an open field to build on. Suddenly Porkchop, who was the pig that followed me. Yes, don't judge my naming sense please. He ran to the front, which startled me.
"Yo, Porkchop! Where are you going?" I called out. Following him, while trying to not fall over, the woods started to get a little thicker. However, thanks to Porkchop who was ahead, most of the stuff on the way was trampled by him. This made it more easier to not fall over and have my head pierced by a stray branch.
Oink! Oink!
I hear Porkchop call out towards me, that's when I realized that light was seeping through the dense leaves.
Swish!
Passing through the final obstacle I was met with another beautiful scenery. It was a lake, which was clear and sparkling from the sun's constant rays. I could see some birds drinking from it, even a couple of deer.
"Holy, this is insane." I said. It was true, I've never experience any of this anywhere. Even with the best shaders and mods in Minecraft cant compare to such beauty. The added effect of seeing it in person made it even more grand. I even managed to man cry, it was so beautiful.
Oink!
I saw Porkchop jump into the water and swam around. Seeing the little fatty I also jumped in to enjoy a swim. The water was cool and refreshing, it made me feel like a was truly in paradise. After relaxing my mind I turned back to my goal. Which was to create a base.
I won't expect it to be perfect, however it should be good enough to start me off. I quickly got out of the lake, leaving Porkchop to swim by himself. Even if he runs away, I could still recognize him. How? It's simple actually, porkchop although looking like the other boars he had one defining feature. That was a scar on his nose, which took a noticeable chunk away from it. Porkchop also had a long mohawk growing from his head to his middle back.
I scouted out a good area, which wasn't too far from where I got out. Maybe I was being a little too lazy in choosing a spot, but I could always relocate. After some deliberation I decided to build just a small little shack with a cobblestone base.
(A/N:Please note that each block's dimensions are 1m x 1m x 1m, and living creatures all have different sizes and heights)
I placed down a cobblestone and realized that it was rather tall. Like waist level tall, so I placed down the workbench to craft some stairs. I also crafted a door while I was at it, this part will be my entrance no I guess. I placed another three cobblestones on each side and made it 5 blocks long, I then I used the logs to create a margin around the cobblestone. I then used the log margin to build up a frame. After that I had filled in the gaps with planks.
I went inside to fill in the rest of the cobblestone base, but had another idea. Instead of filling it in, I shoveled the dirt out and filled it in with planks. Creating a lower elevation from the cobblestone, I liked the look of it so I stuck with it. Plotting down the work bench, I created 4 chests and two furnaces with my spare materials. Then I plopped a few torches on the walls and done.
"Lookin' good, Lookin' good" I said to myself, proud of my work.
Oink! Oink! Oink!
I heard a call from outside the door, I opened it to see Porkchop staring at the newly formed building. When he saw me, he ran directly inside and inspected everything.
"Well, do you find it to your liking porkchop?" I asked the pig who made himself at home at a corner.
Oink! Oink!
He just stared at me as if asking for belly rubs.
Rumble! Rumble!
Hearing a low growl below me, I got startled. It seemed that I had forgotten about the fact that I needed to eat and drink. I guess you can forget daily necessities when you are enjoying yourself. I took out dozen or so apples and handed some to Porkchop.
"Looks like we'll be having apples for dinner today buddy," I said as I sat beside him. Porkchop paid no more attention towards me and was happily gorging on the apples. I smiled at the glutton and bit into mine as well. I also took out a bowl of water that I got from the river before. Taking down big gulps I felt the satisfaction of working a good day's work. I honestly never expected this to happen to me at all, but I welcome it. It's a lot better that what I deal with back on Earth.
With that said and done, Porkchop and I fell asleep for the night.
