Chapter 6, Pride of a Nation

'Returning to our Nation's greatest victory but as mere shadow of our former selves...Our Empire has fallen and our Kaiser has stepped down a Republic was formed in his absence during the Civil War in Russia, Socialist Uprisings have spread into our nation which we were able to quell.

Now our Republic is ordering us to join the Intervention with our former enemies and put down the Red Menace, I've seen the Eastern Front before our Mechs roared through the snow destroying what pride they had but these Bolsheviks have proven to be more then a mere nuisance.'

Originally the Treaty was suppose to be sign in Versailles but was held in Paris as the French proven Paris will not fall as it did during the Franco Prussian War.

Due to the Bolshevik rise to power and becoming a legitimate Government, the White Army has lost most of their territory and taken the city of Tsaritsyn back and created it as a massive command.

The Tsar's family manage to escape and fled into Sweden where the Tsar and his family remain in exile.

Mechs from both sides rampaged on the battlefield as many Mechs were destroyed along with Tanks and Planes.

Technology continue to become advance as Planes were slowly going from Biplanes with Machine guns on their nose to Planes with the ability to maneuver better and fight.

Karl finished writing as he put his journal into his coat and pulled his mask up to block the bitter cold from his face.

He was a Sergeant after serving in the Eastern Front during the Great War.

The German troops marched into the snowy plains of Russia, The Germans have battled them during the Great War but now as the Republic of Prussia was formed from the fall of the German Empire.

Groups of volunteers mainly of Great War Veterans joined the fight.

The People's Republic of Mongolia, Finnish Red Rebels and a few other Socialist groups joining the cause.

This created what's often being called a Second World War but it was more of a Global Revolutionary War.

"The 7th Army will attack their defences here" One of the Officers said tapping on the map, "I want Stormtroopers to establish a foothold and once they pop a flare we'll have our Tanks and Mechs advance in"

Karl listen to the plan then pulled his mask down to take a sip from the warm soup he was given. The Stormtroopers of the Iron Division begin to march through a forest using the trees for cover.

"I heard the Americans along with some British and French are in Siberia..." One of the Germans said.

"Most of the Bolsheviks weapons are from the former Russian Empire but they have some weapons from other nations as for their Mechs...Most of them are also Imperial Russian and only a few are Bolshevik made" Another said.

Karl continue to follow the group as they walked through the snow.

During their march one of them pulled out binoculars and spotted the Red's fort which was defended with some Field cannons and luckily no tanks or mechs.

"Well defended...Do we have any smoke grenades?" One of the Stormtroopers said, "Only a few we can attach them to rifle grenade and we can charge them"

The Squad Leader nodded as they mounted their smoke grenades attached to their rifles. Aiming then firing off the smoke grenades.

And with a blow of a whistle, the Germans let out loud battlecry and charged towards Stronghold. Armed with rifles, machine guns and other weapons.

Karl held a Gewehr rifle with a bayonet attached to it, his heart beat into his chest and went he went up to the hillside and letting out a cry.

Karl stabbed his bayonet into the nearest Soldier, He twisted the blade then pulled it firing at another Soldier.

The German Stormtroopers rushed into the trenches and buildings dealing great damage to the Red Army.

Firing a flare into the air signaling of their success.

Once their signal was seen, German Mechs and Tanks advanced to the Stronghold removing the Red Flag and raising the German one.

Karl pulled his mask down then breathed out his breath becoming visible in the cold air. "Well done 12th Battalion will hold this front, Ludwig!" The Officer said as Karl approached.

"Sir" He saluted, "I want you to take your group secure the town a few meters near us from Bolshevik control, if possible destroy any armor you see Tank or Mech"

Karl nodded and order his squad to follow him once again down the Stronghold and advance to a nearby town.

"Damn it's cold..." One of the Stormtroopers said, indeed it was cold but any of those who served in the Eastern Front gain somewhat of a endurance to it.

Karl thought back when he first enlisted in the Army when the Great War began, Military history was in his blood.

His Grandfather served in the Franco Prussian War and his Father was in the Boxer Rebellion. Karl remembered back during the cruel days of the Eastern Front.

Where German Stormwalkers, Bärwolf and Imperial Helljumpers faced against Tsar Tanks, Iron Bears and other Machines.

Karl can only reminder like it was yesterday, storming into trenches armed with a club and pistol facing Imperial Russian Soldiers during the Brusilov Offensive.

"Ludwig? Sir?" Karl turned to one of the troops, "Sorry sir but how long do you think this forsaken war will last?" He asked.

This peaked at Karl, he was curious as the Eastern Front ended with a treaty but now their back into the fray.

"Hopefully not long...I rather not be in this Godless land again I've seen enough good soldiers die in the snow, watching it turn from white to red" He says pulling his mask up.

"Once the Bolshevik can not stand anymore we'll return to Germany with Pride once again Soldiers...but first we keep moving" Karl says.

With the German Volunteers in Russian Lands once again, they can only hope it'll be a quick war and they can go back home.

Karl can only hope he'll lead these men back to Germany with their heads still on their shoulders and possibly with their Pride still intact.
