Chapter 277

Prince Leo practically ran off at the servants words. His target destination was the palace gates. There was someone who looked as if they could be related to him. Was there any reason to second guess who it could have been? He could only imagine a collapsed brother, Curtis, at the gates from the servants words.

"Leo, wait!" The wolf shouted at him from behind while chasing after him.

DING!

That was when the message appeared before the wolf's eyes.

[ Quest Activated: Rescue A Long Lost Friend

Reward: Knowledge ]

Knowledge? About what? Vorbuk pondered that thought. Were the gods finally going to give him answers to some of the questions that plagued his mind about this world?

Reaching the palace gates he slowed down until he came to a stop right in front of the collapsed man. He was definitely not his brother, Curtis. Instead it was someone that Prince Leo had no knowledge of.

But why does he look like a royal from Cadirade? Prince Leo had no idea who this man was that looked so similar to his own bloodline.

"It cant be..." The wolf was stuttering and only Prince Leo could hear it. Something about this situation seemed to leave the young prince puzzled beyond belief.

"Vorbuk," Prince Leo started to ask the wolf, "Do you know who he is?"

Did he know who he was? Vorbuk wanted to turn into his human form and march right up to the guy and punch him in his face. He wanted to shout at him for many reasons.

I wish they had a bus invented in this world so I could throw him in front of one! Vorbuk cursed and shouted internally while maintaining a calm demeanor.

"Master," Ashley stepped in front of the wolf and the prince in order to block them from getting closer to the collapsed man, "he is dangerous."

The mana flow of the man did not give off something as dangerous as a dragon. It seemed like he was a normal man at first glance. However the man was not of low level.

This guy gave off the feel of someone on par with Aoki. Ashley had that feeling from the man.

"I agree. We should dispose of him quickly," Bredret said while he and Aoki followed from behind. "Aoki could take care of him for us."

"Deal." Aoki agreed to take care of the man and began to take steps towards him.

"WAIT!!! STOP!!!" Vorbuk shouted while quickly morphing into his human form. Standing between everyone else and the unconscious man behind him.

The man was being held in the arms of some very confused and flustered knights. They simply wanted to do something with the man so they could put him down. How flustered they felt in front of the crazy members of their king's palace.

"Master, he is-" Ashley wanted to warn his master about how dangerous the man could be. Nobody knew who the man was.

That was... Ashley thought nobody knew him.

"He is not to be harmed!" Vorbuk shouted at all of them with a demeanor that was almost unrecognizable in front of the others before turning to the knights holding the man, "Take him to an unoccupied room to rest."

"Yes, your majesty!" The knights quickly departed with the man. Hesitating was not something they would do in front of them. A dark shadow was cast over the prince's expression that made him want to leave as soon as possible.

Rescue a long lost friend? Was this whole world and its gods just toying with him?

How Deep did this joke need to run before it left him alone?

"You know who he is." Prince Leo understood from the way Vorbuk was reacting since they first saw the man. It was impossible not to realize it from his point of view.

"What?" The others were confused at first.

"Yes... Kind of." Vorbuk could not deny it from them. Especially if that man had appeared before them. It was only a matter of time before they realized it for themselves even without him saying anything. The moment that man woke up and spoke.

"Is he..." Prince Leo wanted to ask if he was the man that Vorbuk had spoken of in the past. Was this man the one who taught the wolf about the world?

"Yes, he was the human I once knew." Vorbuk could only respond with his blunt answer.

How difficult did it need to feel to be honest with the prince that the man was the one he once called his only friend? That his friend had vanished and left him behind and alone in his world without a word.

What was I expecting? Did I expect Vorbuk to never see his old acquaintances again? Prince Leo was not sure why this situation hurt so much for him.

Was the wolf kind to him from the beginning because he resembled his old friend? Prince Leo felt his heart throbbing.

"Leo, are you alright?" Vorbuk placed his hand on the prince's shoulder only to notice him flinching away from his touch while trying not to be obvious about it.

Prince Leo paused a moment while heading after the knights who took the man away, it was clear to Vorbuk that he was trying to avoid him suddenly, "We should probably go check on his condition, right?"

Vorbuk walked after him while trying to press him about whether or not he really was fine, because the wolf did not believe it one bit, "Are you angry with me about something?"

"I told you I am fine. Can we please drop it already?" Prince Leo was feeling more frustrated the more the wolf tried to pry him for answers about his sudden change in attitude.

Vorbuk wanted to argue back but found himself being stopped by Ashley, "Master, perhaps you should just let him calm down on his own with this one. He is obviously feeling inferior to the man he just met."

Prince Leo could feel the heavy insults that Ashley played into his words. The vampire was not whispering that quietly to begin with because he did not care at all if the prince heard his words. It made Prince Leo's blood boil til smoke could be seen coming from his over heated body.

"How dare you!" Prince Leo shouted at the vampire. His temper was beginning to lose control causing his fire mana to act up. It was causing the hallway to heat up around them.

"ENOUGH!!!" Daryl shouted as he started to walk down the hallway towards them.

"Daryl?" They all paused as the prince calmed down. Their gazes were all cast down towards the direction of the frustrated Daryl. He had only left them alone for a while and they were all already causing problems with each other.

"I came as soon as I heard, your majesty." Daryl put on the attitude of a general doing his duties for the king in order to halt the fighting that was going on between everyone, "I will have some knights stationed outside the door of his room. We do not want anything happening to your guest."

Prince Leo and the others all flinched at those words. Vorbuk was certain that he was probably the only person among them who realized what had happened. The man had noticed the trouble as soon as he showed up and instantly quieted them all down. It truly felt like a bunch of children who had just been scolded by their angry mother into silence.

Scary. Vorbuk felt like the power Daryl had to silence everyone so easily was scary. Especially as someone who did not even hold the ability to use magic.
