The blood red rain storm that plagued the mortal realm continued to pour down from the skies above. Due to the storm the preparations that Daryl was busy making to go to war against the dwarves had been delayed.
He had to work all night to help the king by guiding the knights to help the kingdom remain calm. It was not possible for him to linger around the others while they went to see the strange man who had collapsed. After silencing the groups fight Daryl did not delay his intent to drag the lazy dragon, Bredret, off with him back to work.
Vorbuk arrived at the door to the room the man was currently resting in. Behind him stood the other three who came with him. The prince was still acting a bit strange. Both the vampires were calm as ever which gave him a sense of ease even if he was not sure why.
"Master," Ashley stepped forward and opened the door to the room for Vorbuk, "What should I do for you?"
"Ashley, you will wait outside the room while we talk with him." Vorbuk ordered him to remain outside the door. There was no chance he was going to allow Ashley inside with the man easily. He did not trust Ashley anywhere near the man.
"Master, I-!" Ashley was startled by being told to remain behind. His master was ordering him to remain outside and guard the door?
Vorbuk turned his eyes and glared back at Ashley while entering the room, "Are you going to disobey me?"
Ashley flinched in silence. The only thing he could do was watch the others walk inside the room without him. Closing his eyes he listened to the sound of the door shutting with everyone inside except him.
Master is very cautious around me lately. Ashley sighed in his own thoughts. Knowing it would take time to earn his master's trust back.
Vorbuk did not consider the vampires thoughts. The only thing he was worried about was making sure Ashley did not make another slip. He was not willing to give Ashley the chance to disobey him this time. Because the man who lay unconscious on the bed in front of him as he walked across the room with Leo and Aoki was not just some stranger to him.
Why is he here of all places? Vorbuk questioned the fact that he could see the man in this world. This was not the world that Vorbuk once lived on.
Was he dragged here like me?
Why did he abandon him all those years ago? No, did he really abandon him? If he was actually trapped inside this world like he now was... Vorbuk had many questions he wanted to ask. The only thing he could do was sit down on the side of the bed and question everything that he had thought he'd known about his own life.
"He doesn't seem to have any external injuries," Prince Leo said while approaching Vorbuk from behind, glancing over the condition of the man on the bed, "It must be due to something else."
"It a wonder how he managed to get to the palace gates in such a condition." Vorbuk was well aware of the fact that something much deeper was wrong with the man. "Perhaps we should call the priestess here to-!"
Vorbuk was startled by the hand that suddenly grabbed hold of his wrist in attempt to stop him from calling anyone, "Ad-! Where am I?"
"Sebastian!" Vorbuk called out the man's name as he knew it from his past life. The man seemed to stare in a blank daze at the three of them gathered around him.
Aoki looked as if he would not mind putting him down like a wild animal. The vampire clearly did not trust him. His silence was probably only maintained by the fact that he was bound to Vorbuk as his master.
The prince, Leo, seemed to be frozen in place at the fact that Vorbuk had so openly called out his name. It seemed as if the prince did not like the fact that a man unknown to him was being doted on by the beast. Was it possessiveness showing from the prince? Or was it something else?
It has been a long time since I heard that name come from anyone... The only time I used that name was when you were a child. Iemis had to force himself to refrain from smiling at that familiar name.
The only time he had ever used that name was on Vorbuk's home world. It was his way of blending into the mortals there. He knew it was a good idea to hide his true name from that child he cared for. When he first awoke he almost made the mistake of calling Vorbuk's original name from his previous life. Everyone here had no idea that the beast was reincarnated yet. The god held his tongue from calling out the name when he realized they weren't alone.
I can not allow them to summon the pope's daughter! Iemis had been startled awake when he had heard them mention bringing the priestess. He had not spoken to her yet since he had arrived at the palace. There was no guarantee that she would not recognize him due to her father being the pope. Iemis had no intent of being found out so soon after getting close to Vorbuk.
Vorbuk's appearance was similar to his previous life, though it was much healthier since his body was in better condition, so Iemis had no reason to pretend as if he did not know the beast at all while his mana was sealed to mortal standards, "It has been a while... but you can forget about summoning a healer."
"Is that all you have to say in this situation?" Vorbuk muttered under his breath in annoyance. How could Sebastian act so calmly in front of him? Did he know how long it had been since he left? Did he have no idea how he felt after he was abandoned by him?
"Vorbuk, maybe we should-!" The prince wanted to interrupt only to find himself being ignored by the beast.
"Do you have any idea how confused I was when you left?! I had no idea if you were dead or alive and now you show up here of all places?! That happens to be the first thing you say to me after all this time?! Don't call a healer?! Should I have called a exorcist instead because maybe I'm just seeing ghosts now?! I see! I have just officially lost my mind!" Vorbuk started to rant.
Many emotions were flooding out of him as he shouted at Sebastian without any idea as to who the man truly was. He had no idea how deeply the one he knew as Sebastian was still keeping secrets. If he realized he was truly the god known as Iemis the god wondered if the beast would truly explode from anger.
Anger. Relief. Worry. Betrayed. How many emotions were suffocating Vorbuk in that moment? Perhaps there was not much more the beast could handle before he truly hated all the gods for the things that had done to him and the world they were entrusted to watch over.
"I apologize... I never wanted to leave like that." Sebastian was not lying so he had no reason to hide the regretful look on his face as he apologized to the beast. No. Vorbuk was no beast and he knew that well enough. Because the god Iemis, Sebastian, had personally taught that beast for a long time when he was but a mere human child. He had done everything he could to guide that child to see the better things in life.
It was true that at first it had all been for his own benefit but he could not say he never felt affection for Vorbuk. Even when he gave up blending in with the mortals in that world and returned to his godly form he still would peak in on Vorbuk's life. Including the times when Vorbuk would get drunk in the bars. At times he would even sneak in a drunken conversation because he knew the beast would not have recognized him at those times.
Sebastian muttered under his breath quietly, "I truly am sorry for what I've done."
