Chapter 308

Meanwhile back at Brolan Kingdom's stone wall,

CLANG!

The horse beneath Daryl whinnied as his sword clashed with Dimitri's spear. Kaze's claws swiped forward at Daryl's mount. Slashing away at the horse's flesh.

Daryl had lead his knights forward into battle. A large dragon, Bredret, had smashed down part of the stone wall. His fire breathing causing the surroundings to go up in flames. Much of the dwarves supplies in the area had been burn to ash.

Panic was all around but Dimitri's willpower was stronger then most around him. He pushed back against Daryl and his knights in this war. Determined to protect his king as it was his duty. From his fight with Daryl he could tell that General Daryl could not use mana.

"How did someone like you lead those knights into war? If you do not use mana you will die more quickly in battle." Captain Dimitri could not understand why the werewolves were following orders from a human incapable of using mana. If Daryl was able to use mana. He would have used it much sooner against Dimitri.

Daryl did not consider himself weak because of his inability to wield his own mana, the fact that Dimitri saw it as a weakness simply made him smile, "I earned my position."

CLANG! SHHKK!

Daryl's horse started to collapse under him. The kaze had managed to severely wound the horse. He tried to sturdy himself as he jumped off the horse. His sword scraping against the dwarf's spear as he managed to escape the situation.

Fumbling to stand firm on the ground Daryl blocked another incoming strike from the spear. It swung down at him from the side as the kaze beneath the dwarf swiped its claws straight at his chest. His gear was shredded apart. Flesh was sliced open as the beast's claws had cut clean through to his skin.

"Argh." Daryl groaned from the pain of the wound. Warm blood seeping from the cuts made by the beast.

"Sir!""General!" He could hear the sounds of the knights calling out at the sight of him being wounded.

"This is nothing." Daryl grunted as he pushed forward. Swinging his weapon again he struck down at Dimitri.

CLANG!!!

Dimitri blocked the strike with his spear. While he took care of Daryl's attack the kaze slashed forward again. Knowing that the beast would try the same move again. Daryl dodged their claws by jumping backwards.

RAWWRRRRRR!

The dragon roared causing the surroundings to tremble. Stones and chunks from the wall collapsed and fell from the stone wall. Many dwarves and knights alike were smashed by the falling rubble. It was not a deliberate attack. Bredret was simply destructive by nature and could forget how dangerous his size simply could become.

Roaring once again the dragon released a terrifying flame from his jaws. Burning more of the surroundings around the stone wall. The flames ate away at everything they came into contact with. Dwarves and werewolves alike from both sides found Bredret terrifying. Unlike the dwarves the werewolves pushed through their fear of the dragon to continue fighting.

Thank the gods he is on our side... The knights under Daryl's command all thought the same thing while watching the dragon fight.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!!!

Daryl struggled against Dimitri and the kaze. He knew that he needed a way to get the two of them separated. It was important to take care of Dimitri so they could move forward. They needed to get inside the dwarve's kingdom. To get inside Brolan's walls and go after their king.

One more try! Daryl thought as he charged at Dimitri once again. This time I will get him!

SHHHK!

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Daryl's heart beat felt loud in his own ears. A sharp pain came from his stomach. His eyes glancing down to find that Dimitri's spear had pierced right through him. Reflexively he grabbed hold of the spear where it was piercing him. Holding onto it tight so that Dimitri could not push it further inside.

"DARYL!" The dragon roared out his name.

Daryl could hear the dragon calling out to him, "... Bredret?"

The dragon rushed towards them. Shifting into his half dragon and half human form when he closed the distance. Giving no time for Dimitri to react. Bredret used his dragon-like wings to fly straight at the kaze.

"Kkeekk! Grawr!" The kaze's throat was grasped by Bredret's hands. Squeezing the kaze's neck. It struggled in his grasp to escape.

There was no time nor opportunity for the beast to escape him. Bredret ripped the kaze out from under Dimitri like tearing off a band aid. As the beast was removed from under him the dwarf landed flat on the ground with his spear in hand.

Bredret's throat was releasing a deep growl out of rage. He did not know why he felt so angry. When he saw Daryl in danger his mind had snapped. A tear streamed down his face as a sudden emotion he had come to know as worry mirrored itself inside him.

Stomping towards the dwarf he wanted to tear him to pieces. He wanted to turn into his dragon form and step on him. It seemed as though Bredret had gotten angry. Holding back as hard as he could he even considered burning the dwarf alive.

"Bredret," Daryl could see the dragon was in a weird state of mind, he had never seen Bredret seem so confused and angry before, he tried to remind the dragon about their task at hand, "we need to capture him alive!"

Bredret! Listen to him! A feint voice in the back of Bredret's mind called out to him. It was trying to remind him to listen to those closest to him. He could feel his anger slowly subsiding.

Daryl... He was wounded. Bredret thought to himself. Humans were very fragile creatures. When he thought of that and remembered how Daryl was wounded he snapped out of his daze.

"I will take care of him. We should get you back to camp so someone can look over your injuries." Bredret told him. From a single glance it was easy to see that Daryl was not in good condition. He was bleeding heavily and looked as if he would collapse soon.

Daryl flinched as he saw smoke coming from Bredret's mouth, the dragon was truly on edge during this battle, he agreed as he could not refute the fact that he needed to tend to his injuries, "Alright, but do not over do things. If he can not talk he will be of no use to us."

He felt worried that the dragon would roast the dwarf before they made it back to camp. They needed information from him. As the captain of the dwarven riders and the dwarf king's closest aid. That dwarf would be able to give them important information on the king.

Dimitri was not going to give up so easily. Even as his body was shaking in fear he swung his spear upward at Bredret.

It did not matter how much he refused to be taken prisoner. Bredret's scale covered hand grabbed hold of the spear. As it struck right into his palm he held on firmly to it. Heat radiating out from his palm heated up the spear. It became so hot that it began to glow from the heat and the dwarf released his grip on it.

Bredret laughed, "You're coming with us, rat."

The dwarf, Dimitri, shuddered beneath the mad dragon.
